2Jb 34:22ἀκούσατέ μου σοφοί ἐπιστάμενοι ἐνωτίζεσθε τὸ καλόνJb 34:2
Hear me, ye wise men; hearken, ye that have knowledge.

“Hear my words, you wise men.
Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.

“Hear my words, you wise men.
Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
3Jb 34:33ὅτι οὖς λόγους δοκιμάζει καὶ λάρυγξ γεύεται βρῶσινJb 34:3
For the ear tries words, and the mouth tastes meat.

as the palate tastes food.

4Jb 34:44κρίσιν ἑλώμεθα ἑαυτοῖς γνῶμεν ἀνὰ μέσον ἑαυτῶν ὅ τι καλόνJb 34:4
Let us choose judgment to ourselves: let us know amount ourselves what is right.

Let us choose for us that which is right.
Let us know among ourselves what is good.
Jb 34:4Jb 34:4מִשְׁפָּ֥ט נִבְחֲרָה־לָּ֑נוּ נֵדְעָ֖ה בֵינֵ֣ינוּ מַה־טּֽוֹב׃Jb 34:4
Let us choose for us that which is right.
Let us know among ourselves what is good.
5Jb 34:55ὅτι εἴρηκεν Ιωβ δίκαιός εἰμι ὁ κύριος ἀπήλλαξέν μου τὸ κρίμαJb 34:5
For Job has said, I am righteous: the Lord has removed my judgment.

God has taken away my right:

For Job has said, ‘I am righteous,
God has taken away my right:
6Jb 34:66ἐψεύσατο δὲ τῷ κρίματί μου βίαιον τὸ βέλος μου ἄνευ ἀδικίαςJb 34:6
And he has erred in my judgment: my wound is severe without unrighteousness of mine.

Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar.
My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’

8Jb 34:88οὐχ ἁμαρτὼν οὐδὲ ἀσεβήσας ἢ ὁδοῦ κοινωνήσας μετὰ ποιούντων τὰ ἄνομα τοῦ πορευθῆναι μετὰ ἀσεβῶνJb 34:8
saying, I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, to go with the ungodly.

and walks with wicked men?

Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity,
and walks with wicked men?
9Jb 34:99μὴ γὰρ εἴπῃς ὅτι οὐκ ἔσται ἐπισκοπὴ ἀνδρός καὶ ἐπισκοπὴ αὐτῷ παρὰ κυρίουJb 34:9
For thou shouldest not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, whereas there is a visitation on him from the Lord.

For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing
that he should delight himself with God.’

10Jb 34:1010διό συνετοὶ καρδίας ἀκούσατέ μου μή μοι εἴη ἔναντι κυρίου ἀσεβῆσαι καὶ ἔναντι παντοκράτορος ταράξαι τὸ δίκαιονJb 34:10
Wherefore hear me, ye that are wise in heart: far be it from me to sin before the Lord, and to pervert righteousness before the almighty.

“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding:
far be it from God, that he should do wickedness,
from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding:
far be it from God, that he should do wickedness,
from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11Jb 34:1111ἀλλὰ ἀποδιδοῖ ἀνθρώπῳ καθὰ ποιεῖ ἕκαστος αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τρίβῳ ἀνδρὸς εὑρήσει αὐτόνJb 34:11
Yea, he renders to a man accordingly as each of them does, and in a man's path he will find him.

For the work of a man he will render to him,
and cause every man to find according to his ways.

For the work of a man he will render to him,
and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12Jb 34:1212οἴῃ δὲ τὸν κύριον ἄτοπα ποιήσειν ἢ ὁ παντοκράτωρ ταράξει κρίσινJb 34:12
And thinkest thou that the Lord will do wrong, or will the Almighty who made the earth wrest judgment?
Jb 34:12
Yes surely, God will not do wickedly,
neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
Jb 34:12Jb 34:12אַף־אָמְנָ֗ם אֵ֥ל לֹֽא־יַרְשִׁ֑יעַ וְ֝שַׁדַּ֗י לֹֽא־יְעַוֵּ֥ת מִשְׁפָּֽט׃Jb 34:12
Yes surely, God will not do wickedly,
neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
13Jb 34:1313ὃς ἐποίησεν τὴν γῆν τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ποιῶν τὴν ὑπ’ οὐρανὸν καὶ τὰ ἐνόντα πάνταJb 34:13
And who is he that made the whole world under heaven, and all things therein?

14Jb 34:1414εἰ γὰρ βούλοιτο συνέχειν καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα παρ’ αὐτῷ κατασχεῖνJb 34:14
For if he would confine, and restrain his spirit with himself;

If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,

If he set his heart on himself,
If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
15Jb 34:1515τελευτήσει πᾶσα σὰρξ ὁμοθυμαδόν πᾶς δὲ βροτὸς εἰς γῆν ἀπελεύσεται ὅθεν καὶ ἐπλάσθηJb 34:15
all flesh would die together, and every mortal would return to the earth, whence also he was formed.

Take heed lest he rebuke thee: hear this, hearken to the voice of words.

“If now you have understanding, hear this.
Listen to the voice of my words.

“If now you have understanding, hear this.

17Jb 34:1717ἰδὲ σὺ τὸν μισοῦντα ἄνομα καὶ τὸν ὀλλύντα τοὺς πονηροὺς ὄντα αἰώνιον δίκαιονJb 34:17
Behold then the one that hates iniquities, and that destroys the wicked, who is for ever just.

Shall even one who hates justice govern?
Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—

18Jb 34:1818ἀσεβὴς ὁ λέγων βασιλεῖ παρανομεῖς ἀσεβέστατε τοῖς ἄρχουσινJb 34:18
He is ungodly that says to a king, Thou art a transgressor, that says to princes, O most ungodly one.

or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?

Who says to a king, ‘Vile!’

19Jb 34:1919ὃς οὐκ ἐπῃσχύνθη πρόσωπον ἐντίμου οὐδὲ οἶδεν τιμὴν θέσθαι ἁδροῖς θαυμασθῆναι πρόσωπα αὐτῶνJb 34:19
Such a one as would not reverence the face of an honourable man, neither knows how to give honour to the great, so as that their persons should be respected.

nor respects the rich more than the poor;
for they all are the work of his hands.

Who doesn’t respect the persons of princes,
nor respects the rich more than the poor;
for they all are the work of his hands.
20Jb 34:2020κενὰ δὲ αὐτοῖς ἀποβήσεται τὸ κεκραγέναι καὶ δεῖσθαι ἀνδρός ἐχρήσαντο γὰρ παρανόμως ἐκκλινομένων ἀδυνάτωνJb 34:20
But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; for they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside from their right.

In a moment they die, even at midnight.
The people are shaken and pass away.

Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves.

Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard his ordinances,

and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
28Jb 34:2828τοῦ ἐπαγαγεῖν ἐπ’ αὐτὸν κραυγὴν πένητος καὶ κραυγὴν πτωχῶν εἰσακούσεταιJb 34:28
so as to bring before him the cry of the needy; for he will hear the cry of the poor.

And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? and he will hide his face, and who shall see him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man also:

When he gives quietness, who then can condemn?
When he hides his face, who then can see him?

30Jb 34:3030βασιλεύων ἄνθρωπον ὑποκριτὴν ἀπὸ δυσκολίας λαοῦJb 34:30
causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people.

For there is one that says to the Mighty One, I have received blessings; I will not take a pledge:

I will see apart from myself: do thou shew me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do so any more.

33Jb 34:3333μὴ παρὰ σοῦ ἀποτείσει αὐτήν ὅτι ἀπώσῃ ὅτι σὺ ἐκλέξῃ καὶ οὐκ ἐγώ καὶ τί ἔγνως λάλησονJb 34:33
Will he take vengeance for it on thee, whereas thou wilt put it far from thee? for thou shalt choose, and not I; and what thou knowest, speak thou.

Men of understanding will tell me,

35Jb 34:3535Ιωβ δὲ οὐκ ἐν συνέσει ἐλάλησεν τὰ δὲ ῥήματα αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐν ἐπιστήμῃJb 34:35
But Job has not spoken with understanding, his words are not uttered with knowledge.

‘Job speaks without knowledge.
His words are without wisdom.’

‘Job speaks without knowledge.
His words are without wisdom.’
36Jb 34:3636οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ μάθε Ιωβ μὴ δῷς ἔτι ἀνταπόκρισιν ὥσπερ οἱ ἄφρονεςJb 34:36
Howbeit do thou learn, Job: no longer make answer as the foolish:
Jb 34:36
I wish that Job were tried to the end,
because of his answering like wicked men.
Jb 34:36Jb 34:36אָבִ֗י יִבָּחֵ֣ן אִיּ֣וֹב עַד־נֶ֑צַח עַל־תְּ֝שֻׁבֹ֗ת בְּאַנְשֵׁי־אָֽוֶן׃Jb 34:36

37Jb 34:3737ἵνα μὴ προσθῶμεν ἐφ’ ἁμαρτίαις ἡμῶν ἀνομία δὲ ἐφ’ ἡμῖν λογισθήσεται πολλὰ λαλούντων ῥήματα ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίουJb 34:37
that we add not to our sins: for iniquity will be reckoned against us, if we speak many words before the Lord.

For he adds rebellion to his sin.
He claps his hands among us,
and multiplies his words against God.”
