¶Job again took up his parable, and said,
2Jb 27:22ζῇ κύριος ὃς οὕτω με κέκρικεν καὶ ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὁ πικράνας μου τὴν ψυχήνJb 27:2
As God lives, who has thus judge me; and the Almighty, who has embittered my soul;

“As God lives, who has taken away my right,
the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter.
Jb 27:2Jb 27:2חַי־אֵ֭ל הֵסִ֣יר מִשְׁפָּטִ֑י וְ֝שַׁדַּ֗י הֵמַ֥ר נַפְשִֽׁי׃Jb 27:2
“As God lives, who has taken away my right,
the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter.
3Jb 27:33ἦ μὴν ἔτι τῆς πνοῆς μου ἐνούσης πνεῦμα δὲ θεῖον τὸ περιόν μοι ἐν ῥισίνJb 27:3
verily, while my breath is yet in me, and the breath of God which remains to me is in my nostrils,

(For the length of my life is still in me,
and the spirit of God is in my nostrils);
Jb 27:3Jb 27:3כִּֽי־כָל־ע֣וֹד נִשְׁמָתִ֣י בִ֑י וְר֖וּחַ אֱל֣וֹהַּ בְּאַפִּֽי׃Jb 27:3
(For the length of my life is still in me,
and the spirit of God is in my nostrils);
4Jb 27:44μὴ λαλήσειν τὰ χείλη μου ἄνομα οὐδὲ ἡ ψυχή μου μελετήσει ἄδικαJb 27:4
my lips shall not speak evil words, neither shall my soul meditate unrighteous thoughts.
Jb 27:4
surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness,
neither shall my tongue utter deceit.
Jb 27:4Jb 27:4אִם־תְּדַבֵּ֣רְנָה שְׂפָתַ֣י עַוְלָ֑ה וּ֝לְשׁוֹנִ֗י אִם־יֶהְגֶּ֥ה רְמִיָּֽה׃Jb 27:4
surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness,
neither shall my tongue utter deceit.
5Jb 27:55μή μοι εἴη δικαίους ὑμᾶς ἀποφῆναι ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνω οὐ γὰρ ἀπαλλάξω μου τὴν ἀκακίανJb 27:5
Far be it from me that I should justify you till I die; for I will not let go my innocence,
Jb 27:5
Far be it from me that I should justify you.
Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
Jb 27:5Jb 27:5חָלִ֣ילָה לִּי֮ אִם־אַצְדִּ֪יק אֶ֫תְכֶ֥ם עַד־אֶגְוָ֑ע לֹא־אָסִ֖יר תֻּמָּתִ֣י מִמֶּֽנִּי׃Jb 27:5
Far be it from me that I should justify you.
Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
6Jb 27:66δικαιοσύνῃ δὲ προσέχων οὐ μὴ προῶμαι οὐ γὰρ σύνοιδα ἐμαυτῷ ἄτοπα πράξαςJb 27:6
but keeping fast to my righteousness I will by no means let it go: for I am not conscious to myself of having done any thing amiss.
Jb 27:6
I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go.
My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
Jb 27:6Jb 27:6בְּצִדְקָתִ֣י הֶ֭חֱזַקְתִּי וְלֹ֣א אַרְפֶּ֑הָ לֹֽא־יֶחֱרַ֥ף לְ֝בָבִ֗י מִיָּמָֽי׃Jb 27:6
I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go.
My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
7Jb 27:77οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ εἴησαν οἱ ἐχθροί μου ὥσπερ ἡ καταστροφὴ τῶν ἀσεβῶν καὶ οἱ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἐπανιστανόμενοι ὥσπερ ἡ ἀπώλεια τῶν παρανόμωνJb 27:7
Nay rather, but let mine enemies be as the overthrow of the ungodly, and they that rise up against me, as the destruction of transgressors.
Jb 27:7
“Let my enemy be as the wicked.
Let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.
Jb 27:7Jb 27:7יְהִ֣י כְ֭רָשָׁע אֹ֣יְבִ֑י וּמִתְקוֹמְמִ֥י כְעַוָּֽל׃Jb 27:7
“Let my enemy be as the wicked.
Let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.
8Jb 27:88καὶ τίς γάρ ἐστιν ἐλπὶς ἀσεβεῖ ὅτι ἐπέχει πεποιθὼς ἐπὶ κύριον ἆρα σωθήσεταιJb 27:8
For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved?

For what is the hope of the godless, when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?
Jb 27:8Jb 27:8כִּ֤י מַה־תִּקְוַ֣ת חָ֭נֵף כִּ֣י יִבְצָ֑ע כִּ֤י יֵ֖שֶׁל אֱל֣וֹהַּ נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃Jb 27:8
For what is the hope of the godless, when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?
9Jb 27:99ἦ τὴν δέησιν αὐτοῦ εἰσακούσεται κύριος ἢ ἐπελθούσης αὐτῷ ἀνάγκηςJb 27:9
Will God hear his prayer? or, when distress has come upon him,

Jb 27:9Jb 27:9הַֽ֭צַעֲקָתוֹ יִשְׁמַ֥ע ׀ אֵ֑ל כִּֽי־תָב֖וֹא עָלָ֣יו צָרָֽה׃Jb 27:9
Will God hear his cry when trouble comes on him?
10Jb 27:1010μὴ ἔχει τινὰ παρρησίαν ἔναντι αὐτοῦ ἢ ὡς ἐπικαλεσαμένου αὐτοῦ εἰσακούσεται αὐτοῦJb 27:10
has he any confidence before him? or will God hear him as he calls upon him?
Jb 27:10
Will he delight himself in the Almighty,
and call on God at all times?
Jb 27:10Jb 27:10אִם־עַל־שַׁדַּ֥י יִתְעַנָּ֑ג יִקְרָ֖א אֱל֣וֹהַּ בְּכָל־עֵֽת׃Jb 27:10
Will he delight himself in the Almighty,
and call on God at all times?
11Jb 27:1111ἀλλὰ δὴ ἀναγγελῶ ὑμῖν τί ἐστιν ἐν χειρὶ κυρίου ἅ ἐστιν παρὰ παντοκράτορι οὐ ψεύσομαιJb 27:11
Yet now I will tell you what is in the hand of the Lord: I will not lie concerning the things which are with the Almighty.
Jb 27:11
I will teach you about the hand of God.
That which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
Jb 27:11Jb 27:11אוֹרֶ֣ה אֶתְכֶ֣ם בְּיַד־אֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עִם־שַׁ֝דַּ֗י לֹ֣א אֲכַחֵֽד׃Jb 27:11
I will teach you about the hand of God.
That which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
12Jb 27:1212ἰδοὺ δὴ πάντες οἴδατε ὅτι κενὰ κενοῖς ἐπιβάλλετεJb 27:12
Behold, ye all know that ye are adding vanity to vanity.
Jb 27:12
Behold, all of you have seen it yourselves;
why then have you become altogether vain?
Jb 27:12Jb 27:12הֵן־אַתֶּ֣ם כֻּלְּכֶ֣ם חֲזִיתֶ֑ם וְלָמָּה־זֶּ֝֗ה הֶ֣בֶל תֶּהְבָּֽלוּ׃Jb 27:12
Behold, all of you have seen it yourselves;
why then have you become altogether vain?
13Jb 27:1313αὕτη ἡ μερὶς ἀνθρώπου ἀσεβοῦς παρὰ κυρίου κτῆμα δὲ δυναστῶν ἐλεύσεται παρὰ παντοκράτορος ἐπ’ αὐτούςJb 27:13
This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of oppressors shall come upon them from the Almighty.
Jb 27:13
“This is the portion of a wicked man with God,
the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty.
Jb 27:13Jb 27:13זֶ֤ה ׀ חֵֽלֶק־אָדָ֖ם רָשָׁ֥ע ׀ עִם־אֵ֑ל וְֽנַחֲלַ֥ת עָ֝רִיצִ֗ים מִשַּׁדַּ֥י יִקָּֽחוּ׃Jb 27:13
“This is the portion of a wicked man with God,
the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty.
14Jb 27:1414ἐὰν δὲ πολλοὶ γένωνται οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς σφαγὴν ἔσονται ἐὰν δὲ καὶ ἀνδρωθῶσιν προσαιτήσουσινJb 27:14
And if their children be many, they shall be for slaughter: and if they grow up, they shall beg.
Jb 27:14
If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword.
His offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
Jb 27:14Jb 27:14אִם־יִרְבּ֣וּ בָנָ֣יו לְמוֹ־חָ֑רֶב וְ֝צֶאֱצָאָ֗יו לֹ֣א יִשְׂבְּעוּ־לָֽחֶם׃Jb 27:14
If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword.
His offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
15Jb 27:1515οἱ δὲ περιόντες αὐτοῦ ἐν θανάτῳ τελευτήσουσιν χήρας δὲ αὐτῶν οὐθεὶς ἐλεήσειJb 27:15
And they that survive of him shall utterly perish, and no one shall pity their widows.
Jb 27:15
Those who remain of him shall be buried in death.
His widows shall make no lamentation.

Jb 27:15

16Jb 27:1616ἐὰν συναγάγῃ ὥσπερ γῆν ἀργύριον ἴσα δὲ πηλῷ ἑτοιμάσῃ χρυσίονJb 27:16
Even if he should gather silver as earth, and prepare gold as clay;

Though he heap up silver as the dust,
and prepare clothing as the clay;
Jb 27:16Jb 27:16אִם־יִצְבֹּ֣ר כֶּעָפָ֣ר כָּ֑סֶף וְ֝כַחֹ֗מֶר יָכִ֥ין מַלְבּֽוּשׁ׃Jb 27:16
Though he heap up silver as the dust,

17Jb 27:1717ταῦτα πάντα δίκαιοι περιποιήσονται τὰ δὲ χρήματα αὐτοῦ ἀληθινοὶ καθέξουσινJb 27:17
All these things shall the righteous gain, and the truehearted shall possess his wealth.

he may prepare it, but the just shall put it on,
and the innocent shall divide the silver.

19Jb 27:1919πλούσιος κοιμηθεὶς καὶ οὐ προσθήσει ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ διήνοιξεν καὶ οὐκ ἔστινJb 27:19
The rich man shall lie down, and shall not continue: he has opened his eyes, and he is not.
Jb 27:19
He lies down rich, but he shall not do so again.

20Jb 27:2020συνήντησαν αὐτῷ ὥσπερ ὕδωρ αἱ ὀδύναι νυκτὶ δὲ ὑφείλατο αὐτὸν γνόφοςJb 27:20
Pains have come upon him as water, and darkness has carried him away by night.

Terrors overtake him like waters.
A storm steals him away in the night.
Jb 27:20Jb 27:20תַּשִּׂיגֵ֣הוּ כַ֭מַּיִם בַּלָּה֑וֹת לַ֝֗יְלָה גְּנָבַ֥תּוּ סוּפָֽה׃Jb 27:20
Terrors overtake him like waters.

21Jb 27:2121ἀναλήμψεται αὐτὸν καύσων καὶ ἀπελεύσεται καὶ λικμήσει αὐτὸν ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτοῦJb 27:21
And a burning wind shall catch him, and he shall depart, and it shall utterly drive him out of his place.

The east wind carries him away, and he departs.
