Weary in my soul, I will pour my words with groans upon him: I will speak being straitened in the bitterness of my soul.

“My soul is weary of my life.
I will give free course to my complaint.
I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
2Jb 10:22καὶ ἐρῶ πρὸς κύριον μή με ἀσεβεῖν δίδασκε καὶ διὰ τί με οὕτως ἔκριναςJb 10:2
And I will say to the Lord, Do not teach me to be impious; and wherefore hast thou thus judged me?
Jb 10:2
I will tell God, ‘Do not condemn me.
Show me why you contend with me.
Jb 10:2Jb 10:2אֹמַ֣ר אֶל־אֱ֭לוֹהַּ אַל־תַּרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי הֽ֝וֹדִיעֵ֗נִי עַ֣ל מַה־תְּרִיבֵֽנִי׃Jb 10:2
I will tell God, ‘Do not condemn me.
Show me why you contend with me.
3Jb 10:33ἦ καλόν σοι ἐὰν ἀδικήσω ὅτι ἀπείπω ἔργα χειρῶν σου βουλῇ δὲ ἀσεβῶν προσέσχεςJb 10:3
Is it good before thee if I be unrighteous? for thou hast disowned the work of thy hands, and attended to the counsel of the ungodly.

Is it good to you that you should oppress,
that you should despise the work of your hands,
and smile on the counsel of the wicked?
Jb 10:3Jb 10:3הֲט֤וֹב לְךָ֨ ׀ כִּֽי־תַעֲשֹׁ֗ק כִּֽי־תִ֭מְאַס יְגִ֣יעַ כַּפֶּ֑יךָ וְעַל־עֲצַ֖ת רְשָׁעִ֣ים הוֹפָֽעְתָּ׃Jb 10:3
Is it good to you that you should oppress,
that you should despise the work of your hands,
and smile on the counsel of the wicked?
4Jb 10:44ἦ ὥσπερ βροτὸς ὁρᾷ καθορᾷς ἢ καθὼς ὁρᾷ ἄνθρωπος βλέψῃJb 10:4
Or dost thou see as a mortal sees? or wilt thou look as a man sees?

Do you have eyes of flesh?
Or do you see as man sees?
Jb 10:4Jb 10:4הַעֵינֵ֣י בָשָׂ֣ר לָ֑ךְ אִם־כִּרְא֖וֹת אֱנ֣וֹשׁ תִּרְאֶֽה׃Jb 10:4
Do you have eyes of flesh?
Or do you see as man sees?
5Jb 10:55ἦ ὁ βίος σου ἀνθρώπινός ἐστιν ἢ τὰ ἔτη σου ἀνδρόςJb 10:5
Or is thy life human, or thy years the years of a man,

Are your days as the days of mortals,
or your years as man’s years,
Jb 10:5Jb 10:5הֲכִימֵ֣י אֱנ֣וֹשׁ יָמֶ֑יךָ אִם־שְׁ֝נוֹתֶ֗יךָ כִּ֣ימֵי גָֽבֶר׃Jb 10:5
Are your days as the days of mortals,
or your years as man’s years,
6Jb 10:66ὅτι ἀνεζήτησας τὴν ἀνομίαν μου καὶ τὰς ἁμαρτίας μου ἐξιχνίασαςJb 10:6
that thou hast enquired into mine iniquity, and searched out my sins?
Jb 10:6
that you inquire after my iniquity,
and search after my sin?
Jb 10:6Jb 10:6כִּֽי־תְבַקֵּ֥שׁ לַעֲוֹנִ֑י וּ֭לְחַטָּאתִ֥י תִדְרֽוֹשׁ׃Jb 10:6
that you inquire after my iniquity,
and search after my sin?
7Jb 10:77οἶδας γὰρ ὅτι οὐκ ἠσέβησα ἀλλὰ τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν σου ἐξαιρούμενοςJb 10:7
For thou knowest that I have not committed iniquity: but who is he that can deliver out of thy hands?
Jb 10:7
Although you know that I am not wicked,
there is no one who can deliver out of your hand.
Jb 10:7Jb 10:7עַֽל־דַּ֭עְתְּךָ כִּי־לֹ֣א אֶרְשָׁ֑ע וְאֵ֖ין מִיָּדְךָ֣ מַצִּֽיל׃Jb 10:7
Although you know that I am not wicked,
there is no one who can deliver out of your hand.
8Jb 10:88αἱ χεῖρές σου ἔπλασάν με καὶ ἐποίησάν με μετὰ ταῦτα μεταβαλών με ἔπαισαςJb 10:8
Thy hands have formed me and made me; afterwards thou didst change thy mind, and smite me.

“‘Your hands have framed me and fashioned me altogether,
yet you destroy me.
Jb 10:8Jb 10:8יָדֶ֣יךָ עִ֭צְּבוּנִי וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֑וּנִי יַ֥חַד סָ֝בִ֗יב וַֽתְּבַלְּעֵֽנִי׃Jb 10:8
“‘Your hands have framed me and fashioned me altogether,

9Jb 10:99μνήσθητι ὅτι πηλόν με ἔπλασας εἰς δὲ γῆν με πάλιν ἀποστρέφειςJb 10:9
Remember that thou hast made me as clay, and thou dost turn me again to earth.
Jb 10:9
Remember, I beg you, that you have fashioned me as clay.
Will you bring me into dust again?
Jb 10:9Jb 10:9זְכָר־נָ֭א כִּי־כַחֹ֣מֶר עֲשִׂיתָ֑נִי וְֽאֶל־עָפָ֥ר תְּשִׁיבֵֽנִי׃Jb 10:9
Remember, I beg you, that you have fashioned me as clay.
Will you bring me into dust again?
10Jb 10:1010ἦ οὐχ ὥσπερ γάλα με ἤμελξας ἐτύρωσας δέ με ἴσα τυρῷJb 10:10
Hast thou not poured me out like milk, and curdled me like cheese?

Haven’t you poured me out like milk,
and curdled me like cheese?
¶Truly, did you not milk me as milk but curdled me as cheese (tyre)

Haven’t you poured me out like milk,
and curdled me like cheese?
11Jb 10:1111δέρμα καὶ κρέας με ἐνέδυσας ὀστέοις δὲ καὶ νεύροις με ἐνεῖραςJb 10:11
And thou didst clothe me with skin and flesh, and frame me with bones and sinews.

You have clothed me with skin and flesh,
and knit me together with bones and sinews.

You have clothed me with skin and flesh,
and knit me together with bones and sinews.
12Jb 10:1212ζωὴν δὲ καὶ ἔλεος ἔθου παρ’ ἐμοί ἡ δὲ ἐπισκοπή σου ἐφύλαξέν μου τὸ πνεῦμαJb 10:12
And thou didst bestow upon me life and mercy, and thy oversight has preserved my spirit.
Jb 10:12
You have granted me life and loving kindness.
Your visitation has preserved my spirit.

Having these things in thyself, I know that thou canst do all things; for nothing is impossible with thee.

Yet you hid these things in your heart.
I know that this is with you:

Yet you hid these things in your heart.
I know that this is with you:
14Jb 10:1414ἐάν τε γὰρ ἁμάρτω φυλάσσεις με ἀπὸ δὲ ἀνομίας οὐκ ἀθῷόν με πεποίηκαςJb 10:14
And if I should sin, thou watchest me; and thou hast not cleared me from iniquity.
Jb 10:14
if I sin, then you mark me.
You will not acquit me from my iniquity.
Jb 10:14Jb 10:14אִם־חָטָ֥אתִי וּשְׁמַרְתָּ֑נִי וּ֝מֵעֲוֹנִ֗י לֹ֣א תְנַקֵּֽנִי׃Jb 10:14
if I sin, then you mark me.
You will not acquit me from my iniquity.
15Jb 10:1515ἐάν τε γὰρ ἀσεβὴς ὦ οἴμμοι ἐάν τε ὦ δίκαιος οὐ δύναμαι ἀνακύψαι πλήρης γὰρ ἀτιμίας εἰμίJb 10:15
Or if I should be ungodly, woe is me: and if I should be righteous, I cannot lift myself up, for I am full of dishonour.
Jb 10:15
If I am wicked, woe to me.
If I am righteous, I still shall not lift up my head,
being filled with disgrace,
and conscious of my affliction.
Jb 10:15Jb 10:15אִם־רָשַׁ֡עְתִּי אַלְלַ֬י לִ֗י וְ֭צָדַקְתִּי לֹא־אֶשָּׂ֣א רֹאשִׁ֑י שְׂבַ֥ע קָ֝ל֗וֹן וּרְאֵ֥ה עָנְיִֽי׃Jb 10:15
If I am wicked, woe to me.
If I am righteous, I still shall not lift up my head,
being filled with disgrace,
and conscious of my affliction.
16Jb 10:1616ἀγρεύομαι γὰρ ὥσπερ λέων εἰς σφαγήν πάλιν δὲ μεταβαλὼν δεινῶς με ὀλέκειςJb 10:16
For I am hunted like a lion for slaughter; for again thou hast changed and art terribly destroying me;

If my head is held high, you hunt me like a lion.
Again you show yourself powerful to me.
Jb 10:16Jb 10:16וְ֭יִגְאֶה כַּשַּׁ֣חַל תְּצוּדֵ֑נִי וְ֝תָשֹׁ֗ב תִּתְפַּלָּא־בִֽי׃Jb 10:16
If my head is held high, you hunt me like a lion.
Again you show yourself powerful to me.
17Jb 10:1717ἐπανακαινίζων ἐπ’ ἐμὲ τὴν ἔτασίν μου ὀργῇ δὲ μεγάλῃ μοι ἐχρήσω ἐπήγαγες δὲ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ πειρατήριαJb 10:17
renewing against me my torture: and thou hast dealt with me in great anger, and thou hast brought trials upon me.

You renew your witnesses against me,
and increase your indignation on me.
Changes and warfare are with me.

You renew your witnesses against me,

Why then didst thou bring me out of the womb? and why did I not die, and no eye see me,

“‘Why, then, have you brought me forth out of the womb?
I wish I had given up the spirit, and no eye had seen me.
Jb 10:18Jb 10:18וְלָ֣מָּה מֵ֭רֶחֶם הֹצֵאתָ֑נִי אֶ֝גְוַ֗ע וְעַ֣יִן לֹא־תִרְאֵֽנִי׃Jb 10:18

I wish I had given up the spirit, and no eye had seen me.

and I become as if I had not been? for why was I not carried from the womb to the grave?

Is not the time of my life short? suffer me to rest a little,
