My kinsman is gone down to his garden, to the beds of spice, to feed his flock in the gardens, and to gather lilies.

Where has your beloved gone, you fairest among women?
Where has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you?

Where has your beloved gone, you fairest among women?
Where has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you?

2Sg 6:22ἀδελφιδός μου κατέβη εἰς κῆπον αὐτοῦ εἰς φιάλας τοῦ ἀρώματος ποιμαίνειν ἐν κήποις καὶ συλλέγειν κρίναSg 6:2
I am my kinsman's, and my kinsman is mine, who feeds among the lilies.

My beloved has gone down to his garden,

3Sg 6:33ἐγὼ τῷ ἀδελφιδῷ μου καὶ ἀδελφιδός μου ἐμοὶ ὁ ποιμαίνων ἐν τοῖς κρίνοιςSg 6:3
Thou art fair, my companion, as Pleasure, beautiful as Jerusalem, terrible as armies set in array.

I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.

4Sg 6:44καλὴ εἶ ἡ πλησίον μου ὡς εὐδοκία ὡραία ὡς Ιερουσαλημ θάμβος ὡς τεταγμέναιSg 6:4
Turn away thine eyes from before me, for they have ravished me: thy hair is as flocks of goats which have appeared from Galaad.

lovely as Jerusalem,
awesome as an army with banners.

You are beautiful, my love, as Tirzah,
lovely as Jerusalem,
awesome as an army with banners.
5Sg 6:55ἀπόστρεψον ὀφθαλμούς σου ἀπεναντίον μου ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἀνεπτέρωσάν με τρίχωμά σου ὡς ἀγέλαι τῶν αἰγῶν αἳ ἀνεφάνησαν ἀπὸ τοῦ ΓαλααδSg 6:5
Thy teeth are as flocks of shorn sheep, that have gone up from the washing, all of them bearing twins, and there is none barren among them: thy lips are as a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely.

Turn away your eyes from me,
for they have overcome me.
Your hair is like a flock of goats,
that lie along the side of Gilead.
Sg 6:5Sg 6:5הָסֵ֤בִּי עֵינַ֙יִךְ֙ מִנֶּגְדִּ֔י שֶׁ֥הֵ֖ם הִרְהִיבֻ֑נִי שַׂעְרֵךְ֙ כְּעֵ֣דֶר הָֽעִזִּ֔ים שֶׁגָּלְשׁ֖וּ מִן־הַגִּלְעָֽד׃Sg 6:5
Turn away your eyes from me,

6Sg 6:66ὀδόντες σου ὡς ἀγέλαι τῶν κεκαρμένων αἳ ἀνέβησαν ἀπὸ τοῦ λουτροῦ αἱ πᾶσαι διδυμεύουσαι καὶ ἀτεκνοῦσα οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐταῖςSg 6:6
Thy cheek is like the rind of a pomegranate, being seen without thy veil.

Your teeth are like a flock of ewes,
which have come up from the washing;
of which every one has twins;
none is bereaved among them.
Sg 6:6Sg 6:6שִׁנַּ֙יִךְ֙ כְּעֵ֣דֶר הָֽרְחֵלִ֔ים שֶׁעָל֖וּ מִן־הָרַחְצָ֑ה שֶׁכֻּלָּם֙ מַתְאִימ֔וֹת וְשַׁכֻּלָ֖ה אֵ֥ין בָּהֶֽם׃Sg 6:6

7Sg 6:77ὡς σπαρτίον τὸ κόκκινον χείλη σου καὶ ἡ λαλιά σου ὡραία ὡς λέπυρον τῆς ῥόας μῆλόν σου ἐκτὸς τῆς σιωπήσεώς σουSg 6:7
There are sixty queens, and eighty concubines, and maidens without number.

Your temples are like a piece of a pomegranate behind your veil.

8Sg 6:88ἑξήκοντά εἰσιν βασίλισσαι καὶ ὀγδοήκοντα παλλακαί καὶ νεάνιδες ὧν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμόςSg 6:8
My dove, my perfect one is one; she is the only one of her mother; she is the choice of her that bore her. The daughters saw her, and the queens will pronounce her blessed, yea, and the concubines, and they will praise her.

9Sg 6:99μία ἐστὶν περιστερά μου τελεία μου μία ἐστὶν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς ἐκλεκτή ἐστιν τῇ τεκούσῃ αὐτῆς εἴδοσαν αὐτὴν θυγατέρες καὶ μακαριοῦσιν αὐτήν βασίλισσαι καὶ παλλακαὶ καὶ αἰνέσουσιν αὐτήνSg 6:9
Who is this that looks forth as the morning, fair as the moon, choice as the sun, terrible as armies set in array?

My dove, my perfect one, is unique.
She is her mother’s only daughter.
She is the favorite one of her who bore her.
The daughters saw her, and called her blessed;
the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.
Sg 6:9Sg 6:9אַחַ֥ת הִיא֙ יוֹנָתִ֣י תַמָּתִ֔י אַחַ֥ת הִיא֙ לְאִמָּ֔הּ בָּרָ֥ה הִ֖יא לְיֽוֹלַדְתָּ֑הּ רָא֤וּהָ בָנוֹת֙ וַֽיְאַשְּׁר֔וּהָ מְלָכ֥וֹת וּפִֽילַגְשִׁ֖ים וַֽיְהַלְלֽוּהָ׃ ס Sg 6:9

10Sg 6:1010τίς αὕτη ἡ ἐκκύπτουσα ὡσεὶ ὄρθρος καλὴ ὡς σελήνη ἐκλεκτὴ ὡς ὁ ἥλιος θάμβος ὡς τεταγμέναιSg 6:10
I went down to the garden of nuts, to look at the fruits of the valley, to see if the vine flowered, if the pomegranates blossomed.

Who is she who looks forth as the morning,
beautiful as the moon,
clear as the sun,
and awesome as an army with banners?

Who is she who looks forth as the morning,

11Sg 6:1111εἰς κῆπον καρύας κατέβην ἰδεῖν ἐν γενήμασιν τοῦ χειμάρρου ἰδεῖν εἰ ἤνθησεν ἡ ἄμπελος ἐξήνθησαν αἱ ῥόαι ἐκεῖ δώσω τοὺς μαστούς μου σοίSg 6:11
There I will give thee my breasts: my soul knew it not: it made me as the chariots of Aminadab.

I went down into the nut tree grove,
to see the green plants of the valley,
to see whether the vine budded,
and the pomegranates were in flower.
Sg 6:11Sg 6:11אֶל־גִּנַּ֤ת אֱגוֹז֙ יָרַ֔דְתִּי לִרְא֖וֹת בְּאִבֵּ֣י הַנָּ֑חַל לִרְאוֹת֙ הֲפָֽרְחָ֣ה הַגֶּ֔פֶן הֵנֵ֖צוּ הָרִמֹּנִֽים׃Sg 6:11

Return, return, O Sunamite; return, return, and we will look at thee. What will ye see in the Sunamite? She comes as bands of armies.

my desire set me with my royal people’s chariots.
