And Elisaie spoke to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thy house, and sojourn wherever thou mayest sojourn: for the Lord has called for a famine upon the land; indeed it is come upon the land for seven years.

2Kgs 8:1
¶Now Elisha had spoken to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for Yahweh has called for a famine. It shall also come on the land seven years.”
22Kgs 8:22καὶ ἀνέστη ἡ γυνὴ καὶ ἐποίησεν κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα Ελισαιε καὶ ἐπορεύθη αὐτὴ καὶ ὁ οἶκος αὐτῆς καὶ παρῴκει ἐν γῇ ἀλλοφύλων ἑπτὰ ἔτη4Kgs 8:2
And the woman arose, and did according to the word of Elisaie, both she and her house; and they sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

¶The woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God. She went with her household, and lived in the land of the Philistines seven years.
32Kgs 8:33καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ τέλος τῶν ἑπτὰ ἐτῶν καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ἡ γυνὴ ἐκ γῆς ἀλλοφύλων εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἦλθεν βοῆσαι πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα περὶ τοῦ οἴκου ἑαυτῆς καὶ περὶ τῶν ἀγρῶν ἑαυτῆς4Kgs 8:3
And it came to pass after the expiration of the seven years, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines to the city; and came to cry to the king for her house and for her lands.

It happened at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines. Then she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land.
42Kgs 8:44καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐλάλει πρὸς Γιεζι τὸ παιδάριον Ελισαιε τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ θεοῦ λέγων διήγησαι δή μοι πάντα τὰ μεγάλα ἃ ἐποίησεν Ελισαιε4Kgs 8:4
And the king spoke to Giezi the servant of Elisaie the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things which Elisaie has done.

Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”
52Kgs 8:55καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτοῦ ἐξηγουμένου τῷ βασιλεῖ ὡς ἐζωπύρησεν υἱὸν τεθνηκότα καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡ γυνή ἧς ἐζωπύρησεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς Ελισαιε βοῶσα πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα περὶ τοῦ οἴκου ἑαυτῆς καὶ περὶ τῶν ἀγρῶν ἑαυτῆς καὶ εἶπεν Γιεζι κύριε βασιλεῦ αὕτη ἡ γυνή καὶ οὗτος ὁ υἱὸς αὐτῆς ὃν ἐζωπύρησεν Ελισαιε4Kgs 8:5
And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life the dead son, behold, the woman whose son Elisaie restored to life came crying to the king for her house and for her lands. And Giezi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisaie restored to life.

62Kgs 8:66καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ διηγήσατο αὐτῷ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ ὁ βασιλεὺς εὐνοῦχον ἕνα λέγων ἐπίστρεψον πάντα τὰ αὐτῆς καὶ πάντα τὰ γενήματα τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτῆς ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας ἧς κατέλιπεν τὴν γῆν ἕως τοῦ νῦν4Kgs 8:6
And the king asked the woman, and she told him: and the king appointed her a eunuch, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field from the day that she left the land until now.

¶When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.”

¶When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.”
72Kgs 8:77καὶ ἦλθεν Ελισαιε εἰς Δαμασκόν καὶ υἱὸς Αδερ βασιλεὺς Συρίας ἠρρώστει καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες ἥκει ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἕως ὧδε4Kgs 8:7
And Elisaie came to Damascus; and the king of Syria the son of Ader was ill, and they brought him word, saying, The man of God is come hither.

¶Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. It was told him, saying, “The man of God has come here.”
2Kgs 8:72Kgs 8:7וַיָּבֹ֤א אֱלִישָׁע֙ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וּבֶן־הֲדַ֥ד מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָ֖ם חֹלֶ֑ה וַיֻּגַּד־ל֣וֹ לֵאמֹ֔ר בָּ֛א אִ֥ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים עַד־הֵֽנָּה׃2Kgs 8:7
¶Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. It was told him, saying, “The man of God has come here.”
82Kgs 8:88καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς Αζαηλ λαβὲ ἐν τῇ χειρί σου μαναα καὶ δεῦρο εἰς ἀπαντὴν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐπιζήτησον τὸν κύριον παρ’ αὐτοῦ λέγων εἰ ζήσομαι ἐκ τῆς ἀρρωστίας μου ταύτης4Kgs 8:8
And the king said to Azael, Take in thine hand a present, and go to meet the man of God, and enquire of the Lord by him, saying, Shall I recover of this my disease?

¶The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Yahweh by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
2Kgs 8:82Kgs 8:8וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶל־חֲזָהאֵ֗ל קַ֤ח בְּיָֽדְךָ֙ מִנְחָ֔ה וְלֵ֕ךְ לִקְרַ֖את אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְדָרַשְׁתָּ֨ אֶת־יְהוָ֤ה מֵֽאוֹתוֹ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַאֶחְיֶ֖ה מֵחֳלִ֥י זֶֽה׃2Kgs 8:8
¶The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Yahweh by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
92Kgs 8:99καὶ ἐπορεύθη Αζαηλ εἰς ἀπαντὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλαβεν μαναα ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἀγαθὰ Δαμασκοῦ ἄρσιν τεσσαράκοντα καμήλων καὶ ἦλθεν καὶ ἔστη ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Ελισαιε ὁ υἱός σου υἱὸς Αδερ βασιλεὺς Συρίας ἀπέστειλέν με πρὸς σὲ λέγων εἰ ζήσομαι ἐκ τῆς ἀρρωστίας μου ταύτης4Kgs 8:9
And Azael went to meet him, and he took a present in his hand, and all the good things of Damascus, forty camels' load, and came and stood before him, and said to Elisaie, Thy son the son of Ader, the king of Syria, has sent me to thee to enquire, saying, Shall I recover of this my disease?

¶So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, “Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”

And Elisaie said, Go, say, Thou shalt certainly live; yet the Lord has shewed me that thou shalt surely die.

¶Elisha said to him, “Go, tell him, ‘You shall surely recover;’ however Yahweh has shown me that he shall surely die.”

And he stood before him, and fixed his countenance till he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

He settled his gaze steadfastly on him, until he was ashamed. Then the man of God wept.

122Kgs 8:1212καὶ εἶπεν Αζαηλ τί ὅτι ὁ κύριός μου κλαίει καὶ εἶπεν ὅτι οἶδα ὅσα ποιήσεις τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ κακά τὰ ὀχυρώματα αὐτῶν ἐξαποστελεῖς ἐν πυρὶ καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς αὐτῶν ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ ἀποκτενεῖς καὶ τὰ νήπια αὐτῶν ἐνσείσεις καὶ τὰς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσας αὐτῶν ἀναρρήξεις4Kgs 8:12
And Azael said, Why does my lord weep? And he said, Because I know all the evil that thou wilt do to the children of Israel: thou wilt utterly destroy their strong holds with fire, and thou wilt slay their choice men with the sword, and thou wilt dash their infants against the ground, and their women with child thou wilt rip up.

¶Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?”
¶He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child.”

¶Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?”
¶He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child.”
132Kgs 8:1313καὶ εἶπεν Αζαηλ τίς ἐστιν ὁ δοῦλός σου ὁ κύων ὁ τεθνηκώς ὅτι ποιήσει τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ εἶπεν Ελισαιε ἔδειξέν μοι κύριός σε βασιλεύοντα ἐπὶ Συρίαν4Kgs 8:13
And Azael said, Who is thy servant? a dead dog, that he should do this thing? And Elisaie said, The Lord has shewn me thee ruling over Syria.
2Kgs 8:13¶Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?”
¶Elisha answered, “Yahweh has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”[a]

And he departed from Elisaie, and went in to his lord; and he said to him, What said Elisaie to thee? and he said, He said to me, Thou shalt surely live.

¶He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”

¶In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah then, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

¶In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah then, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
