Hear ye the word of the Lord, which he has spoken to you, O house of Israel.

Jer 10:2

Thus saith the Lord, Learn ye not the ways of the heathen, and be not alarmed at the signs of the sky; for they are alarmed at them, falling on their faces.

Jer 10:3

For the customs of the nations are vain; it is a tree cut out of the forest, the work of the carpenter, or a molten image.

Jer 10:4

They are beautified with silver and gold, they fix them with hammers and nails;

Jer 10:5

they will set them up that they may not move; it is wrought silver, they will not walk, it is forged silver They must certainly be borne, for they cannot ride of themselves. Fear them not; for they cannot do any evil, and there is no good in them.

Jer 10:5

They are like a palm tree, of turned work, and don’t speak: they must be carried, because they can’t go. Don’t be afraid of them; for they can’t do evil, neither is it in them to do good.”Being picked up they will be carried because they can not be mounted (ridden). Do not fear them because they do not have the ability to do evil, and good is not in them.

Jer 10:9

There is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the artificer and of the hands of the goldsmith; blue and purple for their clothing; they are all the work of skillful men.Silver is worked into relief, it will not travel. Silver is added from Tharsis, gold will arrive Mophaz and the hand of the one who melts, the works of designers all clothing them in purple and blue

Jer 10:12

It is the Lord that made the earth by his strength, who set up the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the sky,

Jer 10:13

and set abundance of waters in the sky, and brought up clouds from the ends of the earth; he made lightnings for the rain, and brought forth light out of his treasures.

when he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasuries.and a multitude of water in heaven and He led up the clouds from the ends of the earth and He made lightning into rain and He led light out of His treasures.

Jer 10:14

Every man is deprived of knowledge, every goldsmith is confounded because of his graven images; for he has cast false gods, there is no breath in them.

~~Every man is become brutish and is without knowledge; every goldsmith is disappointed by his engraved image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.~~Every man has become a moron from knowledge. Every artificer was humiliated by his idols because they are lies cast into a mould and their is no spirit in them.

^a νομην (nomen) is the Koine word for pasturage and it is very close to νομος which means custom or law. This chapter begins w God imploring the Children of Israel to not learn the nomima of the nations and then warns that the generations which have not calld upon His name have consumed Jakob and literally annihilate him and made his nomen (pasturage) desolate.
