a Gk. ἐλεεινός, pitiable (e.g., see Rv. 3:17 and 1 Cor. 15:19). Here, does it mean one whose pleas merit mercy? The NETS version of OG Daniel translates this Eugene Lemcio, however, sees as the correct translation.
