Ps 56:1
For the end, concerning the people that were removed from the sanctuary, by David for a memorial, when the Philistines caught him in Geth. Have mercy upon me, O God; for man has trodden me down; all the day long he warring has afflicted me.

2Ps 56:12חָנֵּ֣נִי אֱ֭לֹהִים כִּֽי־שְׁאָפַ֣נִי אֱנ֑וֹשׁ כָּל־הַ֝יּ֗וֹם לֹחֵ֥ם יִלְחָצֵֽנִי׃Ps 56:1
Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up.
All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
Ps 55:2Ps 55:2ἐλέησόν με κύριε ὅτι κατεπάτησέν με ἄνθρωπος ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν πολεμῶν ἔθλιψέν με2
Ps 56:1
Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up.
All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
3Ps 56:23שָׁאֲפ֣וּ שׁ֭וֹרְרַי כָּל־הַיּ֑וֹם כִּֽי־רַבִּ֨ים לֹחֲמִ֖ים לִ֣י מָרֽוֹם׃Ps 56:2
My enemies want to swallow me up all day long,
for they are many who fight proudly against me.
Ps 55:3Ps 55:3κατεπάτησάν με οἱ ἐχθροί μου ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ὅτι πολλοὶ οἱ πολεμοῦντές με ἀπὸ ὕψουςPs 56:2
Mine enemies have trodden me down all the day from the dawning of the day; for there are many warring against me.
Ps 56:2
My enemies want to swallow me up all day long,
for they are many who fight proudly against me.
4Ps 56:34י֥וֹם אִירָ֑א אֲ֝נִ֗י אֵלֶ֥יךָ אֶבְטָֽח׃Ps 56:3
When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in you.
Ps 55:4Ps 55:4ἡμέρας φοβηθήσομαι ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπὶ σοὶ ἐλπιῶPs 56:3
They shall be afraid, but I will trust in thee.
Ps 56:3
When I am afraid,

5Ps 56:45בֵּאלֹהִים֮ אֲהַלֵּ֪ל דְּבָ֫ר֥וֹ בֵּאלֹהִ֣ים בָּ֭טַחְתִּי לֹ֣א אִירָ֑א מַה־יַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה בָשָׂ֣ר לִֽי׃Ps 56:4
In God, I praise his word.
In God, I put my trust.
I will not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
Ps 55:5Ps 55:5ἐν τῷ θεῷ ἐπαινέσω τοὺς λόγους μου ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἐπὶ τῷ θεῷ ἤλπισα οὐ φοβηθήσομαι τί ποιήσει μοι σάρξPs 56:4
In God I will praise my words; all the day have I hoped in God; I will not fear what flesh shall do to me.
Ps 56:4
In God, I praise his word.
In God, I put my trust.
I will not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
6Ps 56:56כָּל־הַ֭יּוֹם דְּבָרַ֣י יְעַצֵּ֑בוּ עָלַ֖י כָּל־מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֣ם לָרָֽע׃Ps 56:5
All day long they twist my words.
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
Ps 55:6Ps 55:6ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν τοὺς λόγους μου ἐβδελύσσοντο κατ’ ἐμοῦ πάντες οἱ διαλογισμοὶ αὐτῶν εἰς κακόνPs 56:5
All the day long they have abominated my words; all their devices are against me for evil.
Ps 56:5
All day long they twist my words.
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
7Ps 56:67יָג֤וּרוּ ׀ ‏{ יצפינו יִצְפּ֗וֹנוּ }‏ הֵ֭מָּה עֲקֵבַ֣י יִשְׁמֹ֑רוּ כַּ֝אֲשֶׁ֗ר קִוּ֥וּ נַפְשִֽׁי׃

Ps 56:6
They conspire and lurk,
watching my steps, they are eager to take my life.
Ps 55:7Ps 55:7παροικήσουσιν καὶ κατακρύψουσιν αὐτοὶ τὴν πτέρναν μου φυλάξουσιν καθάπερ ὑπέμειναν τὴν ψυχήν μουPs 56:6
They will dwell near and hide themselves; they will watch my steps, accordingly as I have waited patiently in my soul.
Ps 56:6

Shall they escape by iniquity?

Thou wilt on no account save them; thou wilt bring down the people in wrath.

You number my wanderings.
You put my tears into your bottle.
Aren’t they in your book?
Ps 55:9Ps 55:9τὴν ζωήν μου ἐξήγγειλά σοι ἔθου τὰ δάκρυά μου ἐνώπιόν σου ὡς καὶ ἐν τῇ ἐπαγγελίᾳ σουPs 56:8
O God, I have declared my life to thee; thou has set my tears before thee, even according to thy promise.
Ps 56:8
You number my wanderings.
You put my tears into your bottle.

10Ps 56:910אָ֥֨ז יָ֘שׁ֤וּבוּ אוֹיְבַ֣י אָ֭חוֹר בְּי֣וֹם אֶקְרָ֑א זֶה־יָ֝דַ֗עְתִּי כִּֽי־אֱלֹהִ֥ים לִֽי׃Ps 56:9
Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call.
I know this, that God is for me.
Ps 55:10Ps 55:10ἐπιστρέψουσιν οἱ ἐχθροί μου εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω ἐν ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ ἐπικαλέσωμαί σε ἰδοὺ ἔγνων ὅτι θεός μου εἶ σύPs 56:9
Mine enemies shall be turned back, in the day wherein I shall call upon thee; behold, I know that thou art my God.
Ps 56:9
Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call.
I know this, that God is for me.
11Ps 56:1011בֵּֽ֭אלֹהִים אֲהַלֵּ֣ל דָּבָ֑ר בַּ֝יהוָ֗ה אֲהַלֵּ֥ל דָּבָֽר׃Ps 56:10
In God, I will praise his word.
In Yahweh, I will praise his word.
Ps 55:11Ps 55:11ἐπὶ τῷ θεῷ αἰνέσω ῥῆμα ἐπὶ τῷ κυρίῳ αἰνέσω λόγονPs 56:10
In God, will I praise his word; in the Lord will I praise his saying.
Ps 56:10
In God, I will praise his word.
In Yahweh, I will praise his word.
12Ps 56:1112בֵּֽאלֹהִ֣ים בָּ֭טַחְתִּי לֹ֣א אִירָ֑א מַה־יַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה אָדָ֣ם לִֽי׃Ps 56:11
I have put my trust in God.
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
Ps 55:12Ps 55:12ἐπὶ τῷ θεῷ ἤλπισα οὐ φοβηθήσομαι τί ποιήσει μοι ἄνθρωποςPs 56:11
I have hoped in God; I will not be afraid of what man shall do to me.
Ps 56:11
I have put my trust in God.
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
13Ps 56:1213עָלַ֣י אֱלֹהִ֣ים נְדָרֶ֑יךָ אֲשַׁלֵּ֖ם תּוֹדֹ֣ת לָֽךְ׃Ps 56:12
Your vows are on me, God.
I will give thank offerings to you.
Ps 55:13Ps 55:13ἐν ἐμοί ὁ θεός αἱ εὐχαὶ ἃς ἀποδώσω αἰνέσεώς σοιPs 56:12
The vows of thy praise, O God, which I will pay, are upon me.
Ps 56:12
Your vows are on me, God.
I will give thank offerings to you.
14Ps 56:1314כִּ֤י הִצַּ֪לְתָּ נַפְשִׁ֡י מִמָּוֶת֮ הֲלֹ֥א רַגְלַ֗י מִ֫דֶּ֥חִי לְ֭הִֽתְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵ֣י אֱלֹהִ֑ים בְּ֝א֗וֹר הַֽחַיִּֽים׃Ps 56:13
For you have delivered my soul from death,
and prevented my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
Ps 55:14Ps 55:14ὅτι ἐρρύσω τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ θανάτου καὶ τοὺς πόδας μου ἐξ ὀλισθήματος τοῦ εὐαρεστῆσαι ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν φωτὶ ζώντωνPs 56:13
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, and my feet from sliding, that I should be well-pleasing before God in the land of the living.
Ps 56:13
For you have delivered my soul from death,
and prevented my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
