2Ps 55:12הַאֲזִ֣ינָה אֱ֭לֹהִים תְּפִלָּתִ֑י וְאַל־תִּ֝תְעַלַּ֗ם מִתְּחִנָּתִֽי׃Ps 55:1
Listen to my prayer, God.
Don’t hide yourself from my supplication.
Ps 54:2Ps 54:2ἐνώτισαι ὁ θεός τὴν προσευχὴν μου καὶ μὴ ὑπερίδῃς τὴν δέησίν μου2

3Ps 55:23הַקְשִׁ֣יבָה לִּ֣י וַעֲנֵ֑נִי אָרִ֖יד בְּשִׂיחִ֣י וְאָהִֽימָה׃Ps 55:2
Attend to me, and answer me.
I am restless in my complaint, and moan,
Ps 54:3Ps 54:3πρόσχες μοι καὶ εἰσάκουσόν μου ἐλυπήθην ἐν τῇ ἀδολεσχίᾳ μου καὶ ἐταράχθηνPs 55:2
Attend to me, and hearken to me: I was grieved in my meditation, and troubled;
Ps 55:2
Attend to me, and answer me.
I am restless in my complaint, and moan,
4Ps 55:34מִקּ֤וֹל אוֹיֵ֗ב מִפְּנֵ֣י עָקַ֣ת רָשָׁ֑ע כִּי־יָמִ֥יטוּ עָלַ֥י אָ֝֗וֶן וּבְאַ֥ף יִשְׂטְמֽוּנִי׃Ps 55:3
Because of the voice of the enemy,
Because of the oppression of the wicked.
For they bring suffering on me.
In anger they hold a grudge against me.
Ps 54:4Ps 54:4ἀπὸ φωνῆς ἐχθροῦ καὶ ἀπὸ θλίψεως ἁμαρτωλοῦ ὅτι ἐξέκλιναν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἀνομίαν καὶ ἐν ὀργῇ ἐνεκότουν μοιPs 55:3
because of the voice of the enemy, and because of the oppression of the sinner: for they brought iniquity against me, and were wrathfully angry with me.
Ps 55:3
Because of the voice of the enemy,
Because of the oppression of the wicked.
For they bring suffering on me.
In anger they hold a grudge against me.
5Ps 55:45לִ֭בִּי יָחִ֣יל בְּקִרְבִּ֑י וְאֵימ֥וֹת מָ֝֗וֶת נָפְל֥וּ עָלָֽי׃Ps 55:4
My heart is severely pained within me.
The terrors of death have fallen on me.
Ps 54:5Ps 54:5ἡ καρδία μου ἐταράχθη ἐν ἐμοί καὶ δειλία θανάτου ἐπέπεσεν ἐπ’ ἐμέPs 55:4
My heart was troubled within me; and the fear of death fell upon me.
Ps 55:4
My heart is severely pained within me.
The terrors of death have fallen on me.
6Ps 55:56יִרְאָ֣ה וָ֭רַעַד יָ֣בֹא בִ֑י וַ֝תְּכַסֵּ֗נִי פַּלָּצֽוּת׃Ps 55:5
Fearfulness and trembling have come on me.
Horror has overwhelmed me.
Ps 54:6Ps 54:6φόβος καὶ τρόμος ἦλθεν ἐπ’ ἐμέ καὶ ἐκάλυψέν με σκότοςPs 55:5
Fear and trembling came upon me, and darkness covered me.
Ps 55:5
Fearfulness and trembling have come on me.

7Ps 55:67וָאֹמַ֗ר מִֽי־יִתֶּן־לִּ֣י אֵ֭בֶר כַּיּוֹנָ֗ה אָע֥וּפָה וְאֶשְׁכֹּֽנָה׃Ps 55:6
I said, “Oh that I had wings like a dove!
Then I would fly away, and be at rest.
Ps 54:7Ps 54:7καὶ εἶπα τίς δώσει μοι πτέρυγας ὡσεὶ περιστερᾶς καὶ πετασθήσομαι καὶ καταπαύσωPs 55:6
And I said, O that I had wings as those of a dove! then would I flee away, and be at rest.
Ps 55:6
I said, “Oh that I had wings like a dove!
Then I would fly away, and be at rest.
8Ps 55:78הִ֭נֵּה אַרְחִ֣יק נְדֹ֑ד אָלִ֖ין בַּמִּדְבָּ֣ר סֶֽלָה׃Ps 55:7
Behold, then I would wander far off.
I would lodge in the wilderness.”

Ps 54:8Ps 54:8ἰδοὺ ἐμάκρυνα φυγαδεύων καὶ ηὐλίσθην ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ διάψαλμαPs 55:7
Lo! I have fled afar off, and lodged in the wilderness. Pause.
Ps 55:7
Behold, then I would wander far off.
I would lodge in the wilderness.”

9Ps 55:89אָחִ֣ישָׁה מִפְלָ֣ט לִ֑י מֵר֖וּחַ סֹעָ֣ה מִסָּֽעַר׃Ps 55:8
“I would hurry to a shelter from the stormy wind and storm.”
Ps 54:9Ps 54:9προσεδεχόμην τὸν σῴζοντά με ἀπὸ ὀλιγοψυχίας καὶ καταιγίδοςPs 55:8
I waited for him that should deliver me from distress of spirit and tempest.
Ps 55:8
“I would hurry to a shelter from the stormy wind and storm.”
10Ps 55:910בַּלַּ֣ע אֲ֭דֹנָי פַּלַּ֣ג לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם כִּֽי־רָאִ֨יתִי חָמָ֖ס וְרִ֣יב בָּעִֽיר׃Ps 55:9
Confuse them, Lord, and confound their language,
for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
Ps 54:10Ps 54:10καταπόντισον κύριε καὶ καταδίελε τὰς γλώσσας αὐτῶν ὅτι εἶδον ἀνομίαν καὶ ἀντιλογίαν ἐν τῇ πόλειPs 55:9
Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen iniquity and gain saying in the city.

Confuse them, Lord, and confound their language,
for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
11Ps 55:1011יוֹמָ֤ם וָלַ֗יְלָה יְסוֹבְבֻ֥הָ עַל־חוֹמֹתֶ֑יהָ וְאָ֖וֶן וְעָמָ֣ל בְּקִרְבָּֽהּ׃Ps 55:10
Day and night they prowl around on its walls.
Malice and abuse are also within her.
Ps 54:11Ps 54:11ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς κυκλώσει αὐτὴν ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη αὐτῆς ἀνομία καὶ κόπος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς καὶ ἀδικίαPs 55:10
Day and night he shall go round about it upon its walls: iniquity and sorrow and unrighteousness are in the midst of it;
Ps 55:10
Day and night they prowl around on its walls.
Malice and abuse are also within her.
12Ps 55:1112הַוּ֥וֹת בְּקִרְבָּ֑הּ וְֽלֹא־יָמִ֥ישׁ מֵ֝רְחֹבָ֗הּ תֹּ֣ךְ וּמִרְמָֽה׃Ps 55:11
Destructive forces are within her.
Threats and lies don’t depart from her streets.
Ps 54:12Ps 54:12καὶ οὐκ ἐξέλιπεν ἐκ τῶν πλατειῶν αὐτῆς τόκος καὶ δόλοςPs 55:11
and usury and craft have not failed from its streets.
Ps 55:11
Destructive forces are within her.
Threats and lies don’t depart from her streets.
13Ps 55:1213כִּ֤י לֹֽא־אוֹיֵ֥ב יְחָֽרְפֵ֗נִי וְאֶ֫שָּׂ֥א לֹֽא־מְ֭שַׂנְאִי עָלַ֣י הִגְדִּ֑יל וְאֶסָּתֵ֥ר מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃Ps 55:12
For it was not an enemy who insulted me,
then I could have endured it.
Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me,
then I would have hidden myself from him.
Ps 54:13Ps 54:13ὅτι εἰ ἐχθρὸς ὠνείδισέν με ὑπήνεγκα ἄν καὶ εἰ ὁ μισῶν με ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἐμεγαλορρημόνησεν ἐκρύβην ἂν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦPs 55:12
For if an enemy had reproached me, I would have endured it; and if one who hated me had spoken vauntingly against me, I would have hid myself from him.
Ps 55:12
For it was not an enemy who insulted me,

14Ps 55:1314וְאַתָּ֣ה אֱנ֣וֹשׁ כְּעֶרְכִּ֑י אַ֝לּוּפִ֗י וּמְיֻדָּֽעִי׃Ps 55:13
But it was you, a man like me,
my companion, and my familiar friend.
Ps 54:14Ps 54:14σὺ δέ ἄνθρωπε ἰσόψυχε ἡγεμών μου καὶ γνωστέ μουPs 55:13
But thou, O man like minded, my guide, and my acquaintance,
Ps 55:13
But it was you, a man like me,
my companion, and my familiar friend.
15Ps 55:1415אֲשֶׁ֣ר יַ֭חְדָּו נַמְתִּ֣יק ס֑וֹד בְּבֵ֥ית אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים נְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בְּרָֽגֶשׁ׃Ps 55:14
We took sweet fellowship together.
We walked in God’s house with company.
Ps 54:15Ps 54:15ὃς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό μοι ἐγλύκανας ἐδέσματα ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπορεύθημεν ἐν ὁμονοίᾳPs 55:14
who in companionship with me sweetened our food: we walked in the house of God in concord.
Ps 55:14
We took sweet fellowship together.
We walked in God’s house with company.
16Ps 55:1516‏{ ישימות יַשִּׁ֤י מָ֨וֶת ׀ }‏ עָלֵ֗ימוֹ יֵרְד֣וּ שְׁא֣וֹל חַיִּ֑ים כִּֽי־רָע֖וֹת בִּמְגוּרָ֣ם בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃

Ps 55:15
Let death come suddenly on them.
Let them go down alive into Sheol.
For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the midst of them.
Ps 54:16Ps 54:16ἐλθέτω θάνατος ἐπ’ αὐτούς καὶ καταβήτωσαν εἰς ᾅδου ζῶντες ὅτι πονηρίαι ἐν ταῖς παροικίαις αὐτῶν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶνPs 55:15
Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into Hades, for iniquity is in their dwellings, in the midst of them.
Ps 55:15
Let death come suddenly on them.
Let them go down alive into Sheol.
For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the midst of them.
17Ps 55:1617אֲ֭נִי אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֶקְרָ֑א וַ֝יהוָ֗ה יוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃Ps 55:16
As for me, I will call on God.
Yahweh will save me.
Ps 54:17Ps 54:17ἐγὼ δὲ πρὸς τὸν θεὸν ἐκέκραξα καὶ ὁ κύριος εἰσήκουσέν μουPs 55:16
I cried to God, and the Lord hearkened to me.
Ps 55:16
As for me, I will call on God.
Yahweh will save me.
18Ps 55:1718עֶ֤רֶב וָבֹ֣קֶר וְ֭צָהֳרַיִם אָשִׂ֣יחָה וְאֶהֱמֶ֑ה וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע קוֹלִֽי׃Ps 55:17
Evening, morning, and at noon, I will cry out in distress.
He will hear my voice.
Ps 54:18Ps 54:18ἑσπέρας καὶ πρωὶ καὶ μεσημβρίας διηγήσομαι ἀπαγγελῶ καὶ εἰσακούσεται τῆς φωνῆς μουPs 55:17
Evening, and morning, and at noon I will declare and make known my wants: and he shall hear my voice.
Ps 55:17
Evening, morning, and at noon, I will cry out in distress.
He will hear my voice.
19Ps 55:1819פָּ֘דָ֤ה בְשָׁל֣וֹם נַ֭פְשִׁי מִקֲּרָב־לִ֑י כִּֽי־בְ֝רַבִּ֗ים הָי֥וּ עִמָּדִֽי׃Ps 55:18
He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me,
although there are many who oppose me.
Ps 54:19Ps 54:19λυτρώσεται ἐν εἰρήνῃ τὴν ψυχήν μου ἀπὸ τῶν ἐγγιζόντων μοι ὅτι ἐν πολλοῖς ἦσαν σὺν ἐμοίPs 55:18
He shall deliver my soul in peace from them that draw nigh to me: for they were with me in many cases.
Ps 55:18
He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me,
although there are many who oppose me.
20Ps 55:1920יִשְׁמַ֤ע ׀ אֵ֨ל ׀ וְֽיַעֲנֵם֮ וְיֹ֤שֵׁ֥ב קֶ֗דֶם סֶ֥לָה אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֵ֣ין חֲלִיפ֣וֹת לָ֑מוֹ וְלֹ֖א יָרְא֣וּ אֱלֹהִֽים׃Ps 55:19
God, who is enthroned forever,
will hear, and answer them.
Selah.
They never change,
who don’t fear God.
Ps 54:20Ps 54:20εἰσακούσεται ὁ θεὸς καὶ ταπεινώσει αὐτούς ὁ ὑπάρχων πρὸ τῶν αἰώνων διάψαλμα οὐ γάρ ἐστιν αὐτοῖς ἀντάλλαγμα καὶ οὐκ ἐφοβήθησαν τὸν θεόνPs 55:19
God shall hear, and bring them low, even he that has existed from eternity. Pause. For they suffer no reverse, and therefore they have not feared God.
Ps 55:19
God, who is enthroned forever,
will hear, and answer them.
Selah.
They never change,
who don’t fear God.
21Ps 55:2021שָׁלַ֣ח יָ֭דָיו בִּשְׁלֹמָ֗יו חִלֵּ֥ל בְּרִיתֽוֹ׃Ps 55:20
He raises his hands against his friends.
He has violated his covenant.
Ps 54:21Ps 54:21ἐξέτεινεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ἀποδιδόναι ἐβεβήλωσαν τὴν διαθήκην αὐτοῦPs 55:20
He has reached forth his hand for retribution; they have profaned his covenant.
Ps 55:20
He raises his hands against his friends.
He has violated his covenant.
22Ps 55:2122חָלְק֤וּ ׀ מַחְמָאֹ֣ת פִּיו֮ וּֽקֲרָב־לִ֫בּ֥וֹ רַכּ֖וּ דְבָרָ֥יו מִשֶּׁ֗מֶן וְהֵ֣מָּה פְתִחֽוֹת׃Ps 55:21
His mouth was smooth as butter,
but his heart was war.
His words were softer than oil,
yet they were drawn swords.
Ps 54:22Ps 54:22διεμερίσθησαν ἀπὸ ὀργῆς τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤγγισεν ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἡπαλύνθησαν οἱ λόγοι αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ ἔλαιον καὶ αὐτοί εἰσιν βολίδεςPs 55:21
They were scattered at the anger of his countenance, and his heart drew nigh them. His words were smoother than oil, yet are they darts.
Ps 55:21
His mouth was smooth as butter,
but his heart was war.

yet they were drawn swords.
23Ps 55:2223הַשְׁלֵ֤ךְ עַל־יְהוָ֨ה ׀ יְהָבְךָ֮ וְה֪וּא יְכַ֫לְכְּלֶ֥ךָ לֹא־יִתֵּ֖ן לְעוֹלָ֥ם מ֗וֹט לַצַּדִּֽיק׃Ps 55:22
Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you.
He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
Ps 54:23Ps 54:23ἐπίρριψον ἐπὶ κύριον τὴν μέριμνάν σου καὶ αὐτός σε διαθρέψει οὐ δώσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα σάλον τῷ δικαίῳPs 55:22
Cast thy care upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Ps 55:22
Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you.
He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
24Ps 55:2324וְאַתָּ֤ה אֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀ תּוֹרִדֵ֬ם ׀ לִבְאֵ֬ר שַׁ֗חַת אַנְשֵׁ֤י דָמִ֣ים וּ֭מִרְמָה לֹא־יֶחֱצ֣וּ יְמֵיהֶ֑ם וַ֝אֲנִ֗י אֶבְטַח־בָּֽךְ׃Ps 55:23
But you, God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction.
Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days,
but I will trust in you.
Ps 54:24Ps 54:24σὺ δέ ὁ θεός κατάξεις αὐτοὺς εἰς φρέαρ διαφθορᾶς ἄνδρες αἱμάτων καὶ δολιότητος οὐ μὴ ἡμισεύσωσιν τὰς ἡμέρας αὐτῶν ἐγὼ δὲ ἐλπιῶ ἐπὶ σέ κύριεPs 55:23
But thou, O God, shalt bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloody and crafty men shall not live out half their days; but I will hope in thee, O Lord.
Ps 55:23
But you, God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction.
Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days,
but I will trust in you.
