εἰς τὸ τέλος ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυιδ
Ps 41:1
For the end, a Psalm of David. Blessed is the man who thinks, on the poor and needy: the Lord shall deliver him in an evil day.

2Ps 41:12אַ֭שְׁרֵי מַשְׂכִּ֣יל אֶל־דָּ֑ל בְּי֥וֹם רָ֝עָ֗ה יְֽמַלְּטֵ֥הוּ יְהוָֽה׃Ps 41:1
Blessed is he who considers the poor.
Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.
Ps 40:2Ps 40:2μακάριος ὁ συνίων ἐπὶ πτωχὸν καὶ πένητα ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πονηρᾷ ῥύσεται αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος2
Ps 41:1
Blessed is he who considers the poor.
Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.
3Ps 41:23יְהוָ֤ה ׀ יִשְׁמְרֵ֣הוּ וִֽ֭יחַיֵּהוּ ‏{ יאשר וְאֻשַּׁ֣ר }‏ בָּאָ֑רֶץ וְאַֽל־תִּ֝תְּנֵ֗הוּ בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ אֹיְבָֽיו׃

Ketib: יאשר ⬪ Qere: וְאֻשַּׁ֣ר
Ps 41:2
Yahweh will preserve him, and keep him alive.
He shall be blessed on the earth,
and he will not surrender him to the will of his enemies.
Ps 40:3Ps 40:3κύριος διαφυλάξαι αὐτὸν καὶ ζήσαι αὐτὸν καὶ μακαρίσαι αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ γῇ καὶ μὴ παραδῴη αὐτὸν εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθροῦ αὐτοῦPs 41:2
May the Lord preserve him and keep him alive, and bless him on the earth, and not deliver him into the hands of his enemy.
Ps 41:2
Yahweh will preserve him, and keep him alive.
He shall be blessed on the earth,
and he will not surrender him to the will of his enemies.
4Ps 41:34יְֽהוָ֗ה יִ֭סְעָדֶנּוּ עַל־עֶ֣רֶשׂ דְּוָ֑י כָּל־מִ֝שְׁכָּב֗וֹ הָפַ֥כְתָּ בְחָלְיֽוֹ׃Ps 41:3
Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed,
and restore him from his bed of illness.
Ps 40:4Ps 40:4κύριος βοηθήσαι αὐτῷ ἐπὶ κλίνης ὀδύνης αὐτοῦ ὅλην τὴν κοίτην αὐτοῦ ἔστρεψας ἐν τῇ ἀρρωστίᾳ αὐτοῦPs 41:3
May the Lord help him upon the bed of his pain; thou hast made all his bed in his sickness.
Ps 41:3
Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed,
and restore him from his bed of illness.
5Ps 41:45אֲ‍ֽנִי־אָ֭מַרְתִּי יְהוָ֣ה חָנֵּ֑נִי רְפָאָ֥ה נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י כִּי־חָטָ֥אתִי לָֽךְ׃Ps 41:4
I said, “Yahweh, have mercy on me!
Heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
Ps 40:5Ps 40:5ἐγὼ εἶπα κύριε ἐλέησόν με ἴασαι τὴν ψυχήν μου ὅτι ἥμαρτόν σοιPs 41:4
I said, O Lord, have mercy upon me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
Ps 41:4
I said, “Yahweh, have mercy on me!
Heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
6Ps 41:56אוֹיְבַ֗י יֹאמְר֣וּ רַ֣ע לִ֑י מָתַ֥י יָ֝מ֗וּת וְאָבַ֥ד שְׁמֽוֹ׃Ps 41:5
My enemies speak evil against me:
“When will he die, and his name perish?”
Ps 40:6Ps 40:6οἱ ἐχθροί μου εἶπαν κακά μοι πότε ἀποθανεῖται καὶ ἀπολεῖται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦPs 41:5
Mine enemies have spoken evil against me, saying, When shall he die, and his name perish?
Ps 41:5
My enemies speak evil against me:
“When will he die, and his name perish?”
7Ps 41:67וְאִם־בָּ֤א לִרְא֨וֹת ׀ שָׁ֤וְא יְדַבֵּ֗ר לִבּ֗וֹ יִקְבָּץ־אָ֥וֶן ל֑וֹ יֵצֵ֖א לַח֣וּץ יְדַבֵּֽר׃Ps 41:6
If he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood.
His heart gathers iniquity to itself.
When he goes abroad, he tells it.
Ps 40:7Ps 40:7καὶ εἰ εἰσεπορεύετο τοῦ ἰδεῖν μάτην ἐλάλει ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ συνήγαγεν ἀνομίαν ἑαυτῷ ἐξεπορεύετο ἔξω καὶ ἐλάλειPs 41:6
And if he came to see me, his heart spoke vainly; he gathered iniquity to himself; he went forth and spoke in like manner.
Ps 41:6
If he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood.
His heart gathers iniquity to itself.
When he goes abroad, he tells it.
8Ps 41:78יַ֗חַד עָלַ֣י יִ֭תְלַחֲשׁוּ כָּל־שֹׂנְאָ֑י עָלַ֓י ׀ יַחְשְׁב֖וּ רָעָ֣ה לִֽי׃Ps 41:7
All who hate me whisper together against me.
They imagine the worst for me.
Ps 40:8Ps 40:8ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ κατ’ ἐμοῦ ἐψιθύριζον πάντες οἱ ἐχθροί μου κατ’ ἐμοῦ ἐλογίζοντο κακά μοιPs 41:7
All my enemies whispered against me; against me they devised my hurt.
Ps 41:7
All who hate me whisper together against me.
They imagine the worst for me.
9Ps 41:89דְּֽבַר־בְּ֭לִיַּעַל יָצ֣וּק בּ֑וֹ וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁ֝כַ֗ב לֹא־יוֹסִ֥יף לָקֽוּם׃Ps 41:8
“An evil disease,” they say, “has afflicted him.
Now that he lies he shall rise up no more.”
Ps 40:9Ps 40:9λόγον παράνομον κατέθεντο κατ’ ἐμοῦ μὴ ὁ κοιμώμενος οὐχὶ προσθήσει τοῦ ἀναστῆναιPs 41:8
They denounced a wicked word against me, saying, Now that he lies, shall he not rise up again?
Ps 41:8
“An evil disease,” they say, “has afflicted him.
Now that he lies he shall rise up no more.”
10Ps 41:910גַּם־אִ֤ישׁ שְׁלוֹמִ֨י ׀ אֲשֶׁר־בָּטַ֣חְתִּי ב֭וֹ אוֹכֵ֣ל לַחְמִ֑י הִגְדִּ֖יל עָלַ֣י עָקֵֽב׃Ps 41:9
Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,
who ate bread with me,
has lifted up his heel against me.
Ps 40:10Ps 40:10καὶ γὰρ ὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς εἰρήνης μου ἐφ’ ὃν ἤλπισα ὁ ἐσθίων ἄρτους μου ἐμεγάλυνεν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ πτερνισμόνPs 41:9
For even the man of my peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, lifted up his heel against me.
Ps 41:9
Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,
who ate bread with me,
has lifted up his heel against me.
11Ps 41:1011וְאַתָּ֤ה יְהוָ֗ה חָנֵּ֥נִי וַהֲקִימֵ֑נִי וַֽאֲשַׁלְּמָ֥ה לָהֶֽם׃Ps 41:10
But you, Yahweh, have mercy on me, and raise me up,
that I may repay them.
Ps 40:11Ps 40:11σὺ δέ κύριε ἐλέησόν με καὶ ἀνάστησόν με καὶ ἀνταποδώσω αὐτοῖςPs 41:10
But thou, O Lord, have compassion upon me, and raise me up, and I shall requite them.
Ps 41:10
But you, Yahweh, have mercy on me, and raise me up,
that I may repay them.
12Ps 41:1112בְּזֹ֣את יָ֭דַעְתִּי כִּֽי־חָפַ֣צְתָּ בִּ֑י כִּ֤י לֹֽא־יָרִ֖יעַ אֹיְבִ֣י עָלָֽי׃Ps 41:11
By this I know that you delight in me,
because my enemy doesn’t triumph over me.
Ps 40:12Ps 40:12ἐν τούτῳ ἔγνων ὅτι τεθέληκάς με ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἐπιχαρῇ ὁ ἐχθρός μου ἐπ’ ἐμέPs 41:11
By this I know that thou hast delighted in me, because mine enemy shall not rejoice over me.
Ps 41:11
By this I know that you delight in me,
because my enemy doesn’t triumph over me.
13Ps 41:1213וַאֲנִ֗י בְּ֭תֻמִּי תָּמַ֣כְתָּ בִּ֑י וַתַּצִּיבֵ֖נִי לְפָנֶ֣יךָ לְעוֹלָֽם׃Ps 41:12
As for me, you uphold me in my integrity,
and set me in your presence forever.
Ps 40:13Ps 40:13ἐμοῦ δὲ διὰ τὴν ἀκακίαν ἀντελάβου καὶ ἐβεβαίωσάς με ἐνώπιόν σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶναPs 41:12
But thou didst help me because of mine innocence, and hast established me before thee for ever.
Ps 41:12
As for me, you uphold me in my integrity,
and set me in your presence forever.
14Ps 41:1314בָּ֘ר֤וּךְ יְהוָ֨ה ׀ אֱלֹ֘הֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מֵֽ֭הָעוֹלָם וְעַ֥ד הָעוֹלָ֗ם אָ֘מֵ֥ן ׀ וְאָמֵֽן׃Ps 41:13
Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
from everlasting and to everlasting!
Amen and amen.
Ps 40:14Ps 40:14εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα γένοιτο γένοιτοPs 41:13
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. So be it, so be it.
Ps 41:13
Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
from everlasting and to everlasting!
