Why do the nations rage,
and the peoples plot a vain thing?

ἵνα τί ἐφρύαξαν ἔθνη καὶ λαοὶ ἐμελέτησαν κενά
Ps 2:1
Wherefore did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things?
Ps 2:1
Why do the nations rage,
and the peoples plot a vain thing?
2Ps 2:22יִ֥תְיַצְּב֨וּ ׀ מַלְכֵי־אֶ֗רֶץ וְרוֹזְנִ֥ים נֽוֹסְדוּ־יָ֑חַד עַל־יְ֝הוָה וְעַל־מְשִׁיחֽוֹ׃Ps 2:2
The kings of the earth take a stand,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against Yahweh, and against his Anointed, saying,
Ps 2:2Ps 2:2παρέστησαν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες συνήχθησαν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ κατὰ τοῦ χριστοῦ αὐτοῦ διάψαλμαPs 2:2
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered themselves together, against the Lord, and against his Christ;

and the rulers take counsel gather together,

3Ps 2:33נְֽ֭נַתְּקָה אֶת־מֽוֹסְרוֹתֵ֑ימוֹ וְנַשְׁלִ֖יכָה מִמֶּ֣נּוּ עֲבֹתֵֽימוֹ׃Ps 2:3
“Let’s break their bonds apart,
and cast their cords from us.”

4Ps 2:44יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם יִשְׂחָ֑ק אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י יִלְעַג־לָֽמוֹ׃Ps 2:4
He who sits in the heavens will laugh.
The Lord will have them in derision.
Ps 2:4Ps 2:4ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν οὐρανοῖς ἐκγελάσεται αὐτούς καὶ ὁ κύριος ἐκμυκτηριεῖ αὐτούςPs 2:4
He that dwells in the heavens shall laugh them to scorn, and the Lord shall mock them.
Ps 2:4
He who sits in the heavens will laugh loud.
The Lord will have them in derision.will scoff at themª

5Ps 2:55אָ֤ז יְדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלֵ֣ימוֹ בְאַפּ֑וֹ וּֽבַחֲרוֹנ֥וֹ יְבַהֲלֵֽמוֹ׃Ps 2:5
Then he will speak to them in his anger,
and terrify them in his wrath:

“Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.”
Ps 2:6Ps 2:6ἐγὼ δὲ κατεστάθην βασιλεὺς ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ Σιων ὄρος τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦPs 2:6
But I have been made king by him on Sion his holy mountain,
Ps 2:6
“Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.”
7Ps 2:77אֲסַפְּרָ֗ה אֶֽ֫ל חֹ֥ק יְֽהוָ֗ה אָמַ֘ר אֵלַ֥י בְּנִ֥י אַ֑תָּה אֲ֝נִ֗י הַיּ֥וֹם יְלִדְתִּֽיךָ׃Ps 2:7
I will tell of the decree.
Yahweh said to me, “You are my son.
Today I have become your father.
Ps 2:7Ps 2:7διαγγέλλων τὸ πρόσταγμα κυρίου κύριος εἶπεν πρός με υἱός μου εἶ σύ ἐγὼ σήμερον γεγέννηκά σεPs 2:7
declaring the ordinance of the Lord: the Lord said to me, Thou art my Son, to-day have I begotten thee.
Ps 2:7
I will tell of the decree.
Yahweh said to me, “You are my son.
Today I have become your fathewhile proclaiming the ordinance of The Lordr.

Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance,
the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.

Now therefore be wise, you kings.
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.

Give sincere homage to the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath will soon be kindled.
Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
Ps 2:12Ps 2:12δράξασθε παιδείας μήποτε ὀργισθῇ κύριος καὶ ἀπολεῖσθε ἐξ ὁδοῦ δικαίας ὅταν ἐκκαυθῇ ἐν τάχει ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ μακάριοι πάντες οἱ πεποιθότες ἐπ’ αὐτῷPs 2:12
Accept correction, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and ye should perish from the righteous way: whensoever his wrath shall be suddenly kindled, blessed are all they that trust in him.
Ps 2:12
Give sincere homage to the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath will soon be kindled.
Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.Take hold of chastisement lest The Lord be angry and you be destroyedª (perished or lost) from the righteous way for His wrath will be inflamed quickly. Blessed are ALL those who put their trust upon Him.
