τῷ Δαυιδ ἐπὶ τῶν ποταμῶν Βαβυλῶνος ἐκεῖ ἐκαθίσαμεν καὶ ἐκλαύσαμεν ἐν τῷ μνησθῆναι ἡμᾶς τῆς Σιων
Ps 137:1
For David, a Psalm of Jeremias. By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat; and wept when we remembered Sion.

Yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
2Ps 137:22עַֽל־עֲרָבִ֥ים בְּתוֹכָ֑הּ תָּ֝לִ֗ינוּ כִּנֹּרוֹתֵֽינוּ׃Ps 137:2
On the willows in its midst,
we hung up our harps.

We hung our harps on the willows in the midst of it.

3Ps 137:33כִּ֤י שָׁ֨ם שְֽׁאֵל֪וּנוּ שׁוֹבֵ֡ינוּ דִּבְרֵי־שִׁ֭יר וְתוֹלָלֵ֣ינוּ שִׂמְחָ֑ה שִׁ֥ירוּ לָ֝֗נוּ מִשִּׁ֥יר צִיּֽוֹן׃Ps 137:3
For there, those who led us captive asked us for songs.
Those who tormented us demanded songs of joy:
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”
Ps 136:3Ps 136:3ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἐπηρώτησαν ἡμᾶς οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύσαντες ἡμᾶς λόγους ᾠδῶν καὶ οἱ ἀπαγαγόντες ἡμᾶς ὕμνον ᾄσατε ἡμῖν ἐκ τῶν ᾠδῶν ΣιωνPs 137:3
For there they that had taken us captive asked of us the words of a song; and they that had carried us away asked a hymn, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Sion.

How can we sing Yahweh’s song in a foreign land?

5Ps 137:55אִֽם־אֶשְׁכָּחֵ֥ךְ יְֽרוּשָׁלִָ֗ם תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח יְמִינִֽי׃Ps 137:5
If I forget you, Jerusalem,
let my right hand forget its skill.
Ps 136:5Ps 136:5ἐὰν ἐπιλάθωμαί σου Ιερουσαλημ ἐπιλησθείη ἡ δεξιά μουPs 137:5
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill.
Ps 137:5

6Ps 137:66תִּדְבַּ֥ק־לְשׁוֹנִ֨י ׀ לְחִכִּי֮ אִם־לֹ֪א אֶ֫זְכְּרֵ֥כִי אִם־לֹ֣א אַ֭עֲלֶה אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלִַ֑ם עַ֝֗ל רֹ֣אשׁ שִׂמְחָתִֽי׃Ps 137:6
Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don’t remember you;
if I don’t prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy.
Ps 136:6Ps 136:6κολληθείη ἡ γλῶσσά μου τῷ λάρυγγί μου ἐὰν μή σου μνησθῶ ἐὰν μὴ προανατάξωμαι τὴν Ιερουσαλημ ἐν ἀρχῇ τῆς εὐφροσύνης μουPs 137:6
May my tongue cleave to my throat, if I do not remember thee; if I do not prefer Jerusalem as the chief of my joy.
Ps 137:6
Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don’t remember you;

Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to its foundations.

8Ps 137:88בַּת־בָּבֶ֗ל הַשְּׁד֫וּדָ֥ה אַשְׁרֵ֥י שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם־לָ֑ךְ אֶת־גְּ֝מוּלֵ֗ךְ שֶׁגָּמַ֥לְתְּ לָֽנוּ׃Ps 137:8
Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
he will be happy who rewards you,
as you have served us.
Ps 136:8Ps 136:8θυγάτηρ Βαβυλῶνος ἡ ταλαίπωρος μακάριος ὃς ἀνταποδώσει σοι τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου ὃ ἀνταπέδωκας ἡμῖνPs 137:8
Wretched daughter of Babylon! blessed shall he be who shall reward thee as thou hast rewarded us.
Ps 137:8
Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
he will be happy who rewards you,
as you have served us.
9Ps 137:99אַשְׁרֵ֤י ׀ שֶׁיֹּאחֵ֓ז וְנִפֵּ֬ץ אֶֽת־עֹ֝לָלַ֗יִךְ אֶל־הַסָּֽלַע׃Ps 137:9
Happy shall he be,
who takes and dashes your little ones against the rock.
Ps 136:9Ps 136:9μακάριος ὃς κρατήσει καὶ ἐδαφιεῖ τὰ νήπιά σου πρὸς τὴν πέτρανPs 137:9
Blessed shall he be who shall seize and dash thine infants against the rock.
Ps 137:9
Happy shall he be,
who takes and dashes your little ones against the rock.
