God of my praise, don’t remain silent,

For the end, a Psalm of David. O God, pass not over my praise in silence;

God of my praise, don’t remain silent,
2Ps 109:22כִּ֤י פִ֪י רָשָׁ֡ע וּֽפִי־מִ֭רְמָה עָלַ֣י פָּתָ֑חוּ דִּבְּר֥וּ אִ֝תִּ֗י לְשׁ֣וֹן שָֽׁקֶר׃Ps 109:2
for they have opened the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit against me.
They have spoken to me with a lying tongue.
Ps 108:2Ps 108:2ὅτι στόμα ἁμαρτωλοῦ καὶ στόμα δολίου ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἠνοίχθη ἐλάλησαν κατ’ ἐμοῦ γλώσσῃ δολίᾳPs 109:2
for the mouth of the sinner and the mouth of the crafty man have been opened against me: they have spoken against me with a crafty tongue.

3Ps 109:33וְדִבְרֵ֣י שִׂנְאָ֣ה סְבָב֑וּנִי וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֥וּנִי חִנָּֽם׃Ps 109:3
They have also surrounded me with words of hatred,
and fought against me without a cause.

And they have compassed me with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

They have also surrounded me with words of hatred,

4Ps 109:44תַּֽחַת־אַהֲבָתִ֥י יִשְׂטְנ֗וּנִי וַאֲנִ֥י תְפִלָּֽה׃Ps 109:4
In return for my love, they are my adversaries;
but I am in prayer.

Instead of loving me, they falsely accused me: but I continued to pray.

5Ps 109:55וַיָּ֘שִׂ֤ימוּ עָלַ֣י רָ֭עָה תַּ֣חַת טוֹבָ֑ה וְ֝שִׂנְאָ֗ה תַּ֣חַת אַהֲבָתִֽי׃Ps 109:5
They have rewarded me evil for good,
and hatred for my love.

6Ps 109:66הַפְקֵ֣ד עָלָ֣יו רָשָׁ֑ע וְ֝שָׂטָ֗ן יַעֲמֹ֥ד עַל־יְמִינֽוֹ׃Ps 109:6
Set a wicked man over him.
Let an adversary stand at his right hand.

Set thou a sinner against him; and let the devil stand at his right hand.

7Ps 109:77בְּ֭הִשָּׁ֣פְטוֹ יֵצֵ֣א רָשָׁ֑ע וּ֝תְפִלָּת֗וֹ תִּהְיֶ֥ה לַֽחֲטָאָֽה׃Ps 109:7
When he is judged, let him come forth guilty.
Let his prayer be turned into sin.
Ps 108:7Ps 108:7ἐν τῷ κρίνεσθαι αὐτὸν ἐξέλθοι καταδεδικασμένος καὶ ἡ προσευχὴ αὐτοῦ γενέσθω εἰς ἁμαρτίανPs 109:7
When he is judged, let him go forth condemned: and let his prayer become sin.

Let his days be few.
Let another take his office.

9Ps 109:99יִֽהְיוּ־בָנָ֥יו יְתוֹמִ֑ים וְ֝אִשְׁתּוֹ אַלְמָנָֽה׃Ps 109:9
Let his children be fatherless,
and his wife a widow.

Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow.

10Ps 109:1010וְנ֤וֹעַ יָנ֣וּעוּ בָנָ֣יו וְשִׁאֵ֑לוּ וְ֝דָרְשׁ֗וּ מֵחָרְבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃Ps 109:10
Let his children be wandering beggars.
Let them be sought from their ruins.
Ps 108:10Ps 108:10σαλευόμενοι μεταναστήτωσαν οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπαιτησάτωσαν ἐκβληθήτωσαν ἐκ τῶν οἰκοπέδων αὐτῶνPs 109:10
Let his children wander without a dwelling-place, and beg: let them be cast out of their habitations.

11Ps 109:1111יְנַקֵּ֣שׁ נ֭וֹשֶׁה לְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֑וֹ וְיָבֹ֖זּוּ זָרִ֣ים יְגִיעֽוֹ׃Ps 109:11
Let the creditor seize all that he has.
Let strangers plunder the fruit of his labor.

Let there be none to extend kindness to him,
neither let there be any to have pity on his fatherless children.
Ps 108:12Ps 108:12μὴ ὑπαρξάτω αὐτῷ ἀντιλήμπτωρ μηδὲ γενηθήτω οἰκτίρμων τοῖς ὀρφανοῖς αὐτοῦPs 109:12
Let him have no helper; neither let there be any one to have compassion on his fatherless children.

13Ps 109:1313יְהִֽי־אַחֲרִית֥וֹ לְהַכְרִ֑ית בְּד֥וֹר אַ֝חֵ֗ר יִמַּ֥ח שְׁמָֽם׃Ps 109:13
Let his posterity be cut off.
In the generation following let their name be blotted out.
Ps 108:13Ps 108:13γενηθήτω τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ εἰς ἐξολέθρευσιν ἐν γενεᾷ μιᾷ ἐξαλειφθήτω τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦPs 109:13
Let his children be given up to utter destruction: in one generation let his name be blotted out.

Let his posterity be cut off.

14Ps 109:1414יִזָּכֵ֤ר ׀ עֲוֹ֣ן אֲ֭בֹתָיו אֶל־יְהוָ֑ה וְחַטַּ֥את אִ֝מּ֗וֹ אַל־תִּמָּֽח׃Ps 109:14
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by Yahweh.
Don’t let the sin of his mother be blotted out.
Ps 108:14Ps 108:14ἀναμνησθείη ἡ ἀνομία τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ ἡ ἁμαρτία τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ μὴ ἐξαλειφθείηPs 109:14

Let them be before Yahweh continually,
that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth;
Ps 108:15Ps 108:15γενηθήτωσαν ἔναντι κυρίου διὰ παντός καὶ ἐξολεθρευθείη ἐκ γῆς τὸ μνημόσυνον αὐτῶνPs 109:15
Let them be before the Lord continually; and let their memorial be blotted out from the earth.

16Ps 109:1616יַ֗עַן אֲשֶׁ֤ר ׀ לֹ֥א זָכַר֮ עֲשׂ֪וֹת חָ֥סֶד וַיִּרְדֹּ֡ף אִישׁ־עָנִ֣י וְ֭אֶבְיוֹן וְנִכְאֵ֨ה לֵבָ֬ב לְמוֹתֵֽת׃Ps 109:16
because he didn’t remember to show kindness,
but persecuted the poor and needy man,
the broken in heart, to kill them.
Ps 108:16Ps 108:16ἀνθ’ ὧν οὐκ ἐμνήσθη τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἔλεος καὶ κατεδίωξεν ἄνθρωπον πένητα καὶ πτωχὸν καὶ κατανενυγμένον τῇ καρδίᾳ τοῦ θανατῶσαιPs 109:16
Because he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the needy and poor man, and that to slay him that was pricked in the heart.

17Ps 109:1717וַיֶּאֱהַ֣ב קְ֭לָלָה וַתְּבוֹאֵ֑הוּ וְֽלֹא־חָפֵ֥ץ בִּ֝בְרָכָ֗ה וַתִּרְחַ֥ק מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃Ps 109:17
Yes, he loved cursing, and it came to him.
He didn’t delight in blessing, and it was far from him.
Ps 108:17Ps 108:17καὶ ἠγάπησεν κατάραν καὶ ἥξει αὐτῷ καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν εὐλογίαν καὶ μακρυνθήσεται ἀπ’ αὐτοῦPs 109:17
He loved cursing also, and it shall come upon him; and he took not pleasure in blessing, so it shall be removed far from him.

18Ps 109:1818וַיִּלְבַּ֥שׁ קְלָלָ֗ה כְּמַ֫דּ֥וֹ וַתָּבֹ֣א כַמַּ֣יִם בְּקִרְבּ֑וֹ וְ֝כַשֶּׁ֗מֶן בְּעַצְמוֹתָֽיו׃Ps 109:18
He clothed himself also with cursing as with his garment.
It came into his inward parts like water,
like oil into his bones.
Ps 108:18Ps 108:18καὶ ἐνεδύσατο κατάραν ὡς ἱμάτιον καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ὡς ὕδωρ εἰς τὰ ἔγκατα αὐτοῦ καὶ ὡσεὶ ἔλαιον ἐν τοῖς ὀστέοις αὐτοῦPs 109:18
Yea, he put on cursing as a garment, and it is come as water into his bowels, and as oil into his bones.

Let it be to him as the clothing with which he covers himself,
for the belt that is always around him.

Let it be to him as a garment which he puts on, and as a girdle with which he girds himself continually.

Let it be to him as the clothing with which he covers himself,

20Ps 109:2020זֹ֤את פְּעֻלַּ֣ת שֹׂ֭טְנַי מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וְהַדֹּבְרִ֥ים רָ֝֗ע עַל־נַפְשִֽׁי׃Ps 109:20
This is the reward of my adversaries from Yahweh,
of those who speak evil against my soul.
Ps 108:20Ps 108:20τοῦτο τὸ ἔργον τῶν ἐνδιαβαλλόντων με παρὰ κυρίου καὶ τῶν λαλούντων πονηρὰ κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς μουPs 109:20
This is the dealing of the Lord with those who falsely accuse me, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

This is the reward of my adversaries from Yahweh,
of those who speak evil against my soul.
21Ps 109:2121וְאַתָּ֤ה ׀ יְה֘וִ֤ה אֲדֹנָ֗י עֲ‍ֽשֵׂה־אִ֭תִּי לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמֶ֑ךָ כִּי־ט֥וֹב חַ֝סְדְּךָ֗ הַצִּילֵֽנִי׃Ps 109:21
But deal with me, Yahweh the Lord, for your name’s sake,
because your loving kindness is good, deliver me;
Ps 108:21Ps 108:21καὶ σύ κύριε κύριε ποίησον μετ’ ἐμοῦ ἔλεος ἕνεκεν τοῦ ὀνόματός σου ὅτι χρηστὸν τὸ ἔλεός σουPs 109:21
But thou, O Lord, Lord, deal mercifully with me, for thy name's sake: for thy mercy is good.
Ps 109:21
But deal with me, Yahweh the Lord, for your name’s sake,
because your loving kindness is good, deliver me;
22Ps 109:2222כִּֽי־עָנִ֣י וְאֶבְי֣וֹן אָנֹ֑כִי וְ֝לִבִּ֗י חָלַ֥ל בְּקִרְבִּֽי׃Ps 109:22
for I am poor and needy.
My heart is wounded within me.
Ps 108:22Ps 108:22ῥῦσαί με ὅτι πτωχὸς καὶ πένης ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ ἡ καρδία μου τετάρακται ἐντός μουPs 109:22
Deliver me, for I am poor and needy; and my heart is troubled within me.

23Ps 109:2323כְּצֵל־כִּנְטוֹת֥וֹ נֶהֱלָ֑כְתִּי נִ֝נְעַ֗רְתִּי כָּֽאַרְבֶּֽה׃Ps 109:23
I fade away like an evening shadow.
I am shaken off like a locust.
Ps 108:23Ps 108:23ὡσεὶ σκιὰ ἐν τῷ ἐκκλῖναι αὐτὴν ἀντανῃρέθην ἐξετινάχθην ὡσεὶ ἀκρίδεςPs 109:23
I am removed as a shadow in its going down: I am tossed up and down like locusts.

I fade away like an evening shadow.
I am shaken off like a locust.
24Ps 109:2424בִּ֭רְכַּי כָּשְׁל֣וּ מִצּ֑וֹם וּ֝בְשָׂרִ֗י כָּחַ֥שׁ מִשָּֽׁמֶן׃Ps 109:24
My knees are weak through fasting.
My body is thin and lacks fat.
Ps 108:24Ps 108:24τὰ γόνατά μου ἠσθένησαν ἀπὸ νηστείας καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου ἠλλοιώθη δι’ ἔλαιονPs 109:24
My knees are weakened through fasting, and my flesh is changed by reason of the want of oil.

My knees are weak through fasting.

25Ps 109:2525וַאֲנִ֤י ׀ הָיִ֣יתִי חֶרְפָּ֣ה לָהֶ֑ם יִ֝רְא֗וּנִי יְנִיע֥וּן רֹאשָֽׁם׃Ps 109:25
I have also become a reproach to them.
When they see me, they shake their head.

Help me, Yahweh, my God.
Save me according to your loving kindness;

Help me, O Lord my God; and save me according to thy mercy.
Ps 109:26
Help me, Yahweh, my God.
Save me according to your loving kindness;
27Ps 109:2727וְֽ֭יֵדְעוּ כִּי־יָ֣דְךָ זֹּ֑את אַתָּ֖ה יְהוָ֣ה עֲשִׂיתָֽהּ׃Ps 109:27
that they may know that this is your hand;
that you, Yahweh, have done it.
Ps 108:27Ps 108:27καὶ γνώτωσαν ὅτι ἡ χείρ σου αὕτη καὶ σύ κύριε ἐποίησας αὐτήνPs 109:27
And let them know that this is thy hand; and that thou, Lord, hast wrought it.
Ps 109:27
that they may know that this is your hand;
that you, Yahweh, have done it.
28Ps 109:2828יְקַֽלְלוּ־הֵמָּה֮ וְאַתָּ֪ה תְבָ֫רֵ֥ךְ קָ֤מוּ ׀ וַיֵּבֹ֗שׁוּ וְֽעַבְדְּךָ֥ יִשְׂמָֽח׃Ps 109:28
They may curse, but you bless.
When they arise, they will be shamed,
but your servant shall rejoice.
Ps 108:28Ps 108:28καταράσονται αὐτοί καὶ σὺ εὐλογήσεις οἱ ἐπανιστανόμενοί μοι αἰσχυνθήτωσαν ὁ δὲ δοῦλός σου εὐφρανθήσεταιPs 109:28
Let them curse, but thou shalt bless: let them that rise up against me be ashamed, but let thy servant rejoice.
Ps 109:28
They may curse, but you bless.
When they arise, they will be shamed,
but your servant shall rejoice.
29Ps 109:2929יִלְבְּשׁ֣וּ שׂוֹטְנַ֣י כְּלִמָּ֑ה וְיַעֲט֖וּ כַמְעִ֣יל בָּשְׁתָּֽם׃Ps 109:29
Let my adversaries be clothed with dishonor.
Let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.
Ps 108:29Ps 108:29ἐνδυσάσθωσαν οἱ ἐνδιαβάλλοντές με ἐντροπὴν καὶ περιβαλέσθωσαν ὡσεὶ διπλοΐδα αἰσχύνην αὐτῶνPs 109:29
Let those that falsely accuse me be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle.
Ps 109:29
Let my adversaries be clothed with dishonor.
Let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.
30Ps 109:3030א֘וֹדֶ֤ה יְהוָ֣ה מְאֹ֣ד בְּפִ֑י וּבְת֖וֹךְ רַבִּ֣ים אֲהַֽלְלֶֽנּוּ׃Ps 109:30
I will give great thanks to Yahweh with my mouth.
Yes, I will praise him among the multitude.
Ps 108:30Ps 108:30ἐξομολογήσομαι τῷ κυρίῳ σφόδρα ἐν τῷ στόματί μου καὶ ἐν μέσῳ πολλῶν αἰνέσω αὐτόνPs 109:30
I will give thanks to the Lord abundantly with my mouth; and in the midst of many I will praise him.
Ps 109:30
I will give great thanks to Yahweh with my mouth.
Yes, I will praise him among the multitude.
31Ps 109:3131כִּֽי־יַ֭עֲמֹד לִימִ֣ין אֶבְי֑וֹן לְ֝הוֹשִׁ֗יעַ מִשֹּׁפְטֵ֥י נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃Ps 109:31
For he will stand at the right hand of the needy,
to save him from those who judge his soul.
Ps 108:31Ps 108:31ὅτι παρέστη ἐκ δεξιῶν πένητος τοῦ σῶσαι ἐκ τῶν καταδιωκόντων τὴν ψυχήν μουPs 109:31
For he stood on the right hand of the poor, to save me from them that persecute my soul.

For he will stand at the right hand of the needy,
to save him from those who judge his soul.
