My son, keep my words.
Lay up my commandments within you.
Prv 7:1Prv 7:1υἱέ φύλασσε ἐμοὺς λόγους τὰς δὲ ἐμὰς ἐντολὰς κρύψον παρὰ σεαυτῷPrv 7:1
My son, keep my words, and hide with thee my commandments. My son, honour the Lord, and thou shalt be strong; and fear none but him:

My son, keep my words.
Lay up my commandments within you.
2Prv 7:22שְׁמֹ֣ר מִצְוֹתַ֣י וֶחְיֵ֑ה וְ֝תוֹרָתִ֗י כְּאִישׁ֥וֹן עֵינֶֽיךָ׃Prv 7:2
Keep my commandments and live!
Guard my teaching as the apple of your eye.

keep my commandments, and thou shalt live; and keep my words as the pupils of thine eyes.

Keep my commandments and live!

3Prv 7:33קָשְׁרֵ֥ם עַל־אֶצְבְּעֹתֶ֑יךָ כָּ֝תְבֵ֗ם עַל־ל֥וּחַ לִבֶּֽךָ׃Prv 7:3
Bind them on your fingers.
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
Prv 7:3Prv 7:3περίθου δὲ αὐτοὺς σοῖς δακτύλοις ἐπίγραψον δὲ ἐπὶ τὸ πλάτος τῆς καρδίας σουPrv 7:3
And bind them on thy fingers, and write them on the table of thine heart.
Prv 7:3
Bind them on your fingers.
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4Prv 7:44אֱמֹ֣ר לַֽ֭חָכְמָה אֲחֹ֣תִי אָ֑תְּ וּ֝מֹדָ֗ע לַבִּינָ֥ה תִקְרָֽא׃Prv 7:4
Tell wisdom, “You are my sister.”
Call understanding your relative,
Prv 7:4Prv 7:4εἶπον τὴν σοφίαν σὴν ἀδελφὴν εἶναι τὴν δὲ φρόνησιν γνώριμον περιποίησαι σεαυτῷPrv 7:4
Say that wisdom is thy sister, and gain prudence as an acquaintance for thyself;
Prv 7:4
Tell wisdom, “You are my sister.”
Call understanding your relative,
5Prv 7:55לִ֭שְׁמָרְךָ מֵאִשָּׁ֣ה זָרָ֑ה מִ֝נָּכְרִיָּ֗ה אֲמָרֶ֥יהָ הֶחֱלִֽיקָה׃Prv 7:5
that they may keep you from the strange woman,
from the foreigner who flatters with her words.
Prv 7:5Prv 7:5ἵνα σε τηρήσῃ ἀπὸ γυναικὸς ἀλλοτρίας καὶ πονηρᾶς ἐάν σε λόγοις τοῖς πρὸς χάριν ἐμβάληταιPrv 7:5
that she may keep thee from the strange and wicked woman, if she should assail thee with flattering words.
Prv 7:5
that they may keep you from the strange woman,
from the foreigner who flatters with her words.
6Prv 7:66כִּ֭י בְּחַלּ֣וֹן בֵּיתִ֑י בְּעַ֖ד אֶשְׁנַבִּ֣י נִשְׁקָֽפְתִּי׃Prv 7:6
For at the window of my house,
I looked out through my lattice.
Prv 7:6Prv 7:6ἀπὸ γὰρ θυρίδος ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου αὐτῆς εἰς τὰς πλατείας παρακύπτουσαPrv 7:6
For she looks from a window out of her house into the streets, at one whom she may see of the senseless ones, a young man void of understanding,

For at the window of my house,
I looked out through my lattice.
7Prv 7:77וָאֵ֤רֶא בַפְּתָאיִ֗ם אָ֘בִ֤ינָה בַבָּנִ֗ים נַ֣עַר חֲסַר־לֵֽב׃Prv 7:7
I saw among the simple ones.
I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding,
Prv 7:7Prv 7:7ὃν ἂν ἴδῃ τῶν ἀφρόνων τέκνων νεανίαν ἐνδεῆ φρενῶνPrv 7:7
passing by the corner in the passages near her house,

I saw among the simple ones.
I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding,
8Prv 7:88עֹבֵ֣ר בַּ֭שּׁוּק אֵ֣צֶל פִּנָּ֑הּ וְדֶ֖רֶךְ בֵּיתָ֣הּ יִצְעָֽד׃Prv 7:8
passing through the street near her corner,
he went the way to her house,
Prv 7:8Prv 7:8παραπορευόμενον παρὰ γωνίαν ἐν διόδοις οἴκων αὐτῆςPrv 7:8
and speaking, in the dark of the evening,
Prv 7:8
passing through the street near her corner,
he went the way to her house,
9Prv 7:99בְּנֶֽשֶׁף־בְּעֶ֥רֶב י֑וֹם בְּאִישׁ֥וֹן לַ֝֗יְלָה וַאֲפֵלָֽה׃Prv 7:9
in the twilight, in the evening of the day,
in the middle of the night and in the darkness.
Prv 7:9Prv 7:9καὶ λαλοῦντα ἐν σκότει ἑσπερινῷ ἡνίκα ἂν ἡσυχία νυκτερινὴ ᾖ καὶ γνοφώδηςPrv 7:9
when there happens to be the stillness of night and of darkness:
Prv 7:9
in the twilight, in the evening of the day,
in the middle of the night and in the darkness.
10Prv 7:1010וְהִנֵּ֣ה אִ֭שָּׁה לִקְרָאת֑וֹ שִׁ֥ית ז֝וֹנָ֗ה וּנְצֻ֥רַת לֵֽב׃Prv 7:10
Behold, there a woman met him with the attire of a prostitute,
and with crafty intent.
Prv 7:10Prv 7:10ἡ δὲ γυνὴ συναντᾷ αὐτῷ εἶδος ἔχουσα πορνικόν ἣ ποιεῖ νέων ἐξίπτασθαι καρδίαςPrv 7:10
and the woman meets him having the appearance of a harlot, that causes the hearts of young men to flutter.
Prv 7:10
Behold, there a woman met him with the attire of a prostitute,
and with crafty intent.
11Prv 7:1111הֹמִיָּ֣ה הִ֣יא וְסֹרָ֑רֶת בְּ֝בֵיתָ֗הּ לֹא־יִשְׁכְּנ֥וּ רַגְלֶֽיהָ׃Prv 7:11
She is loud and defiant.
Her feet don’t stay in her house.
Prv 7:11Prv 7:11ἀνεπτερωμένη δέ ἐστιν καὶ ἄσωτος ἐν οἴκῳ δὲ οὐχ ἡσυχάζουσιν οἱ πόδες αὐτῆςPrv 7:11
And she is fickle, and debauched, and her feet abide not at home.
Prv 7:11
She is loud and defiant.
Her feet don’t stay in her house.
12Prv 7:1212פַּ֤עַם ׀ בַּח֗וּץ פַּ֥עַם בָּרְחֹב֑וֹת וְאֵ֖צֶל כָּל־פִּנָּ֣ה תֶאֱרֹֽב׃Prv 7:12
Now she is in the streets, now in the squares,
and lurking at every corner.
Prv 7:12Prv 7:12χρόνον γάρ τινα ἔξω ῥέμβεται χρόνον δὲ ἐν πλατείαις παρὰ πᾶσαν γωνίαν ἐνεδρεύειPrv 7:12
For at one time she wanders without, and at another time she lies in wait in the streets, at every corner.
Prv 7:12
Now she is in the streets, now in the squares,
and lurking at every corner.
13Prv 7:1313וְהֶחֱזִ֣יקָה בּ֭וֹ וְנָ֣שְׁקָה־לּ֑וֹ הֵעֵ֥זָה פָ֝נֶ֗יהָ וַתֹּ֣אמַר לֽוֹ׃Prv 7:13
So she caught him, and kissed him.
With an impudent face she said to him:
Prv 7:13Prv 7:13εἶτα ἐπιλαβομένη ἐφίλησεν αὐτόν ἀναιδεῖ δὲ προσώπῳ προσεῖπεν αὐτῷPrv 7:13
Then she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him,
Prv 7:13
So she caught him, and kissed him.
With an impudent face she said to him:
14Prv 7:1414זִבְחֵ֣י שְׁלָמִ֣ים עָלָ֑י הַ֝יּ֗וֹם שִׁלַּ֥מְתִּי נְדָרָֽי׃Prv 7:14
“Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me.
This day I have paid my vows.
Prv 7:14Prv 7:14θυσία εἰρηνική μοί ἐστιν σήμερον ἀποδίδωμι τὰς εὐχάς μουPrv 7:14
I have a peace-offering; today I pay my vows:
Prv 7:14
“Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me.
This day I have paid my vows.
15Prv 7:1515עַל־כֵּ֭ן יָצָ֣אתִי לִקְרָאתֶ֑ךָ לְשַׁחֵ֥ר פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ וָאֶמְצָאֶֽךָּ׃Prv 7:15
Therefore I came out to meet you,
to diligently seek your face,
and I have found you.
Prv 7:15Prv 7:15ἕνεκα τούτου ἐξῆλθον εἰς συνάντησίν σοι ποθοῦσα τὸ σὸν πρόσωπον εὕρηκά σεPrv 7:15
therefore I came forth to meet thee, desiring thy face; and I have found thee.
Prv 7:15
Therefore I came out to meet you,
to diligently seek your face,
and I have found you.
16Prv 7:1616מַ֭רְבַדִּים רָבַ֣דְתִּי עַרְשִׂ֑י חֲ֝טֻב֗וֹת אֵט֥וּן מִצְרָֽיִם׃Prv 7:16
I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry,
with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.
Prv 7:16Prv 7:16κειρίαις τέτακα τὴν κλίνην μου ἀμφιτάποις δὲ ἔστρωκα τοῖς ἀπ’ ΑἰγύπτουPrv 7:16
I have spread my bed with sheets, and I have covered it with double tapestry from Egypt.
Prv 7:16
I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry,
with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.
17Prv 7:1717נַ֥פְתִּי מִשְׁכָּבִ֑י מֹ֥ר אֲ֝הָלִ֗ים וְקִנָּמֽוֹן׃Prv 7:17
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Prv 7:17Prv 7:17διέρραγκα τὴν κοίτην μου κρόκῳ τὸν δὲ οἶκόν μου κινναμώμῳPrv 7:17
I have sprinkled my couch with saffron, and my house with cinnamon.
Prv 7:17
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18Prv 7:1818לְכָ֤ה נִרְוֶ֣ה דֹ֭דִים עַד־הַבֹּ֑קֶר נִ֝תְעַלְּסָ֗ה בָּאֳהָבִֽים׃Prv 7:18
Come, let’s take our fill of loving until the morning.
Let’s solace ourselves with loving.
Prv 7:18Prv 7:18ἐλθὲ καὶ ἀπολαύσωμεν φιλίας ἕως ὄρθρου δεῦρο καὶ ἐγκυλισθῶμεν ἔρωτιPrv 7:18
Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love.
Prv 7:18
Come, let’s take our fill of loving until the morning.
Let’s solace ourselves with loving.
19Prv 7:1919כִּ֤י אֵ֣ין הָאִ֣ישׁ בְּבֵית֑וֹ הָ֝לַ֗ךְ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ מֵרָחֽוֹק׃Prv 7:19
For my husband isn’t at home.
He has gone on a long journey.
Prv 7:19Prv 7:19οὐ γὰρ πάρεστιν ὁ ἀνήρ μου ἐν οἴκῳ πεπόρευται δὲ ὁδὸν μακρὰνPrv 7:19
For my husband is not at home, but is gone on a long journey,
Prv 7:19
For my husband isn’t at home.
He has gone on a long journey.
20Prv 7:2020צְֽרוֹר־הַ֭כֶּסֶף לָקַ֣ח בְּיָד֑וֹ לְי֥וֹם הַ֝כֵּ֗סֶא יָבֹ֥א בֵיתֽוֹ׃Prv 7:20
He has taken a bag of money with him.
He will come home at the full moon.”
Prv 7:20Prv 7:20ἔνδεσμον ἀργυρίου λαβὼν ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ δι’ ἡμερῶν πολλῶν ἐπανήξει εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦPrv 7:20
having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house.
Prv 7:20
He has taken a bag of money with him.
He will come home at the full moon.”
21Prv 7:2121הִ֭טַּתּוּ בְּרֹ֣ב לִקְחָ֑הּ בְּחֵ֥לֶק שְׂ֝פָתֶ֗יהָ תַּדִּיחֶֽנּוּ׃Prv 7:21
With persuasive words, she led him astray.
With the flattering of her lips, she seduced him.
Prv 7:21Prv 7:21ἀπεπλάνησεν δὲ αὐτὸν πολλῇ ὁμιλίᾳ βρόχοις τε τοῖς ἀπὸ χειλέων ἐξώκειλεν αὐτόνPrv 7:21
So with much converse she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from the right path.

With persuasive words, she led him astray.
With the flattering of her lips, she seduced him.
22Prv 7:2222ה֤וֹלֵ֥ךְ אַחֲרֶ֗יהָ פִּ֫תְאֹ֥ם כְּ֭שׁוֹר אֶל־טָ֣בַח יָב֑וֹא וּ֝כְעֶ֗כֶס אֶל־מוּסַ֥ר אֱוִֽיל׃Prv 7:22
He followed her immediately,
as an ox goes to the slaughter,
as a fool stepping into a noose.
Prv 7:22Prv 7:22ὁ δὲ ἐπηκολούθησεν αὐτῇ κεπφωθείς ὥσπερ δὲ βοῦς ἐπὶ σφαγὴν ἄγεται καὶ ὥσπερ κύων ἐπὶ δεσμοὺςPrv 7:22
And he followed her, being gently led on, and that as an ox is led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:

23Prv 7:2323עַ֤ד יְפַלַּ֪ח חֵ֡ץ כְּֽבֵד֗וֹ כְּמַהֵ֣ר צִפּ֣וֹר אֶל־פָּ֑ח וְלֹֽא־יָ֝דַ֗ע כִּֽי־בְנַפְשׁ֥וֹ הֽוּא׃ פ Prv 7:23
Until an arrow strikes through his liver,
as a bird hurries to the snare,
and doesn’t know that it will cost his life.
Prv 7:23Prv 7:23ἢ ὡς ἔλαφος τοξεύματι πεπληγὼς εἰς τὸ ἧπαρ σπεύδει δὲ ὥσπερ ὄρνεον εἰς παγίδα οὐκ εἰδὼς ὅτι περὶ ψυχῆς τρέχειPrv 7:23
and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for his life.
Prv 7:23
Until an arrow strikes through his liver,
as a bird hurries to the snare,
and doesn’t know that it will cost his life.
24Prv 7:2424וְעַתָּ֣ה בָ֭נִים שִׁמְעוּ־לִ֑י וְ֝הַקְשִׁ֗יבוּ לְאִמְרֵי־פִֽי׃Prv 7:24
Now therefore, sons, listen to me.
Pay attention to the words of my mouth.
Prv 7:24Prv 7:24νῦν οὖν υἱέ ἄκουέ μου καὶ πρόσεχε ῥήμασιν στόματός μουPrv 7:24
Now then, my son, hearken to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Prv 7:24
Now therefore, sons, listen to me.
Pay attention to the words of my mouth.
25Prv 7:2525אַל־יֵ֣שְׂטְ אֶל־דְּרָכֶ֣יהָ לִבֶּ֑ךָ אַל־תֵּ֝תַע בִּנְתִיבוֹתֶֽיהָ׃Prv 7:25
Don’t let your heart turn to her ways.
Don’t go astray in her paths,
Prv 7:25Prv 7:25μὴ ἐκκλινάτω εἰς τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτῆς ἡ καρδία σουPrv 7:25
Let not thine heart turn aside to her ways:
Prv 7:25
Don’t let your heart turn to her ways.
Don’t go astray in her paths,
26Prv 7:2626כִּֽי־רַבִּ֣ים חֲלָלִ֣ים הִפִּ֑ילָה וַ֝עֲצֻמִ֗ים כָּל־הֲרֻגֶֽיהָ׃Prv 7:26
for she has thrown down many wounded.
Yes, all her slain are a mighty army.
Prv 7:26Prv 7:26πολλοὺς γὰρ τρώσασα καταβέβληκεν καὶ ἀναρίθμητοί εἰσιν οὓς πεφόνευκενPrv 7:26
for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable.
Prv 7:26
for she has thrown down many wounded.
Yes, all her slain are a mighty army.
27Prv 7:2727דַּרְכֵ֣י שְׁא֣וֹל בֵּיתָ֑הּ יֹ֝רְד֗וֹת אֶל־חַדְרֵי־מָֽוֶת׃ פ Prv 7:27
Her house is the way to Sheol,
going down to the rooms of death.
Prv 7:27Prv 7:27ὁδοὶ ᾅδου ὁ οἶκος αὐτῆς κατάγουσαι εἰς τὰ ταμίεια τοῦ θανάτουPrv 7:27
Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death.
Prv 7:27
Her house is the way to Sheol,
going down to the rooms of death.
