Prv 31:1
My words have been spoken by God—the oracular answer of a king, whom his mother instructed.

2Prv 31:22מַה־בְּ֭רִי וּמַֽה־בַּר־בִּטְנִ֑י וּ֝מֶה בַּר־נְדָרָֽי׃Prv 31:2
“Oh, my son!
Oh, son of my womb!
Oh, son of my vows!
Prv 31:2Prv 31:2τί τέκνον τηρήσεις τί ῥήσεις θεοῦ πρωτογενές σοὶ λέγω υἱέ τί τέκνον ἐμῆς κοιλίας τί τέκνον ἐμῶν εὐχῶνPrv 31:2
What wilt thou keep, my son, what? the words of God. My firstborn son, I speak to thee: what? son of my womb? what? son of my vows?

“Oh, my son!
Oh, son of my womb!

3Prv 31:33אַל־תִּתֵּ֣ן לַנָּשִׁ֣ים חֵילֶ֑ךָ וּ֝דְרָכֶ֗יךָ לַֽמְח֥וֹת מְלָכִֽין׃Prv 31:3
Don’t give your strength to women,
nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
Prv 31:3Prv 31:3μὴ δῷς γυναιξὶ σὸν πλοῦτον καὶ τὸν σὸν νοῦν καὶ βίον εἰς ὑστεροβουλίανPrv 31:3
Give not thy wealth to women, nor thy mind and living to remorse. Do all things with counsel: drink wine with counsel.

Don’t give your strength to women,
nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
4Prv 31:44אַ֤ל לַֽמְלָכִ֨ים ׀ לְֽמוֹאֵ֗ל אַ֣ל לַֽמְלָכִ֣ים שְׁתוֹ־יָ֑יִן וּ֝לְרוֹזְנִ֗ים ‏{ או אֵ֣י }‏ שֵׁכָֽר׃

Prv 31:4
It is not for kings, Lemuel;
it is not for kings to drink wine;
nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’
Prv 31:4Prv 31:4μετὰ βουλῆς πάντα ποίει μετὰ βουλῆς οἰνοπότει οἱ δυνάσται θυμώδεις εἰσίν οἶνον δὲ μὴ πινέτωσανPrv 31:4
Princes are prone to anger: let them then not drink wine:
Prv 31:4
It is not for kings, Lemuel;
it is not for kings to drink wine;
nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’
5Prv 31:55פֶּן־יִ֭שְׁתֶּה וְיִשְׁכַּ֣ח מְחֻקָּ֑ק וִֽ֝ישַׁנֶּה דִּ֣ין כָּל־בְּנֵי־עֹֽנִי׃Prv 31:5
lest they drink, and forget the law,
and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.
Prv 31:5Prv 31:5ἵνα μὴ πιόντες ἐπιλάθωνται τῆς σοφίας καὶ ὀρθὰ κρῖναι οὐ μὴ δύνωνται τοὺς ἀσθενεῖςPrv 31:5
lest they drink, and forget wisdom, and be not able to judge the poor rightly.

and wine to the bitter in soul:

Give strong drink to those that are in sorrow, and the wine to drink to those in pain:

Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish;
and wine to the bitter in soul:
7Prv 31:77יִ֭שְׁתֶּה וְיִשְׁכַּ֣ח רִישׁ֑וֹ וַ֝עֲמָל֗וֹ לֹ֣א יִזְכָּר־עֽוֹד׃Prv 31:7
Let him drink, and forget his poverty,
and remember his misery no more.

that they may forget their poverty, and may not remember their troubles any more.

8Prv 31:88פְּתַח־פִּ֥יךָ לְאִלֵּ֑ם אֶל־דִּ֝֗ין כָּל־בְּנֵ֥י חֲלֽוֹף׃Prv 31:8
Open your mouth for the mute,
in the cause of all who are left desolate.
Prv 31:8Prv 31:8ἄνοιγε σὸν στόμα λόγῳ θεοῦ καὶ κρῖνε πάντας ὑγιῶςPrv 31:8
Open thy mouth with the word of God, and judge all fairly.
Prv 31:8
Open your mouth for the mute,
in the cause of all who are left desolate.
9Prv 31:99פְּתַח־פִּ֥יךָ שְׁפָט־צֶ֑דֶק וְ֝דִ֗ין עָנִ֥י וְאֶבְיֽוֹן׃ פ Prv 31:9
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
and serve justice to the poor and needy.”

Open thy mouth and judge justly, and plead the cause of the poor and weak.

Prv 31:10
Who shall find a virtuous woman? for such a one is more valuable than precious stones.

12Prv 31:1212גְּמָלַ֣תְהוּ ט֣וֹב וְלֹא־רָ֑ע כֹּ֝֗ל יְמֵ֣י חַיֶּֽיה׃Prv 31:12
She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.

For she employs all her living for her husband's good.

She seeks wool and flax,
and works eagerly with her hands.

Gathering wool and flax, she makes it serviceable with her hands.

14Prv 31:1414הָ֭יְתָה כָּאֳנִיּ֣וֹת סוֹחֵ֑ר מִ֝מֶּרְחָ֗ק תָּבִ֥יא לַחְמָֽהּ׃Prv 31:14
She is like the merchant ships.
She brings her bread from afar.
Prv 31:14Prv 31:14ἐγένετο ὡσεὶ ναῦς ἐμπορευομένη μακρόθεν συνάγει δὲ αὕτη τὸν βίονPrv 31:14
She is like a ship trading from a distance: so she procures her livelihood.

15Prv 31:1515וַתָּ֤קָם ׀ בְּע֬וֹד לַ֗יְלָה וַתִּתֵּ֣ן טֶ֣רֶף לְבֵיתָ֑הּ וְ֝חֹ֗ק לְנַעֲרֹתֶֽיהָ׃Prv 31:15
She rises also while it is yet night,
gives food to her household,
and portions for her servant girls.
Prv 31:15Prv 31:15καὶ ἀνίσταται ἐκ νυκτῶν καὶ ἔδωκεν βρώματα τῷ οἴκῳ καὶ ἔργα ταῖς θεραπαίναιςPrv 31:15
And she rises by night, and gives food to her household, and appointed tasks to her maidens.

16Prv 31:1616זָמְמָ֣ה שָׂ֭דֶה וַתִּקָּחֵ֑הוּ מִפְּרִ֥י כַ֝פֶּ֗יהָ ‏{ נטע נָ֣טְעָה }‏ כָּֽרֶם׃

Prv 31:16
She considers a field, and buys it.
With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.
Prv 31:16Prv 31:16θεωρήσασα γεώργιον ἐπρίατο ἀπὸ δὲ καρπῶν χειρῶν αὐτῆς κατεφύτευσεν κτῆμαPrv 31:16
She views a farm, and buys it: and with the fruit of her hands she plants and a possession.

17Prv 31:1717חָֽגְרָ֣ה בְע֣וֹז מָתְנֶ֑יהָ וַ֝תְּאַמֵּ֗ץ זְרֹעוֹתֶֽיהָ׃Prv 31:17
She arms her waist with strength,
and makes her arms strong.
Prv 31:17Prv 31:17ἀναζωσαμένη ἰσχυρῶς τὴν ὀσφὺν αὐτῆς ἤρεισεν τοὺς βραχίονας αὐτῆς εἰς ἔργονPrv 31:17
She strongly girds her loins, and strengthens her arms for work.
Prv 31:17
She arms her waist with strength,
and makes her arms strong.
18Prv 31:1818טָ֭עֲמָה כִּי־ט֣וֹב סַחְרָ֑הּ לֹֽא־יִכְבֶּ֖ה ‏{ בליל בַלַּ֣יְלָה }‏ נֵרָֽהּ׃

Prv 31:18
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.
Prv 31:18Prv 31:18ἐγεύσατο ὅτι καλόν ἐστιν τὸ ἐργάζεσθαι καὶ οὐκ ἀποσβέννυται ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ὁ λύχνος αὐτῆςPrv 31:18
And she finds by experience that working is good; and her candle goes not out all night.
Prv 31:18
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.
19Prv 31:1919יָ֭דֶיהָ שִׁלְּחָ֣ה בַכִּישׁ֑וֹר וְ֝כַפֶּ֗יהָ תָּ֣מְכוּ פָֽלֶךְ׃Prv 31:19
She lays her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
Prv 31:19Prv 31:19τοὺς πήχεις αὐτῆς ἐκτείνει ἐπὶ τὰ συμφέροντα τὰς δὲ χεῖρας αὐτῆς ἐρείδει εἰς ἄτρακτονPrv 31:19
She reaches forth her arms to needful works, and applies her hands to the spindle.
Prv 31:19
She lays her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
20Prv 31:2020כַּ֭פָּהּ פָּרְשָׂ֣ה לֶעָנִ֑י וְ֝יָדֶ֗יהָ שִׁלְּחָ֥ה לָֽאֶבְיֽוֹן׃Prv 31:20
She opens her arms to the poor;
yes, she extends her hands to the needy.
Prv 31:20Prv 31:20χεῖρας δὲ αὐτῆς διήνοιξεν πένητι καρπὸν δὲ ἐξέτεινεν πτωχῷPrv 31:20
And she opens her hands to the needy, and reaches out fruit to the poor.
Prv 31:20
She opens her arms to the poor;
yes, she extends her hands to the needy.
21Prv 31:2121לֹא־תִירָ֣א לְבֵיתָ֣הּ מִשָּׁ֑לֶג כִּ֥י כָל־בֵּ֝יתָ֗הּ לָבֻ֥שׁ שָׁנִֽים׃Prv 31:21
She is not afraid of the snow for her household;
for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Prv 31:21Prv 31:21οὐ φροντίζει τῶν ἐν οἴκῳ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς ὅταν που χρονίζῃ πάντες γὰρ οἱ παρ’ αὐτῆς ἐνδιδύσκονταιPrv 31:21
Her husband is not anxious about those at home when he tarries anywhere abroad: for all her household are clothed.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household;
for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22Prv 31:2222מַרְבַדִּ֥ים עָֽשְׂתָה־לָּ֑הּ שֵׁ֖שׁ וְאַרְגָּמָ֣ן לְבוּשָֽׁהּ׃Prv 31:22
She makes for herself carpets of tapestry.
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Prv 31:22Prv 31:22δισσὰς χλαίνας ἐποίησεν τῷ ἀνδρὶ αὐτῆς ἐκ δὲ βύσσου καὶ πορφύρας ἑαυτῇ ἐνδύματαPrv 31:22
She makes for her husband clothes of double texture, and garments for herself of fine linen and scarlet.

23Prv 31:2323נוֹדָ֣ע בַּשְּׁעָרִ֣ים בַּעְלָ֑הּ בְּ֝שִׁבְתּ֗וֹ עִם־זִקְנֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃Prv 31:23
Her husband is respected in the gates,
when he sits among the elders of the land.
Prv 31:23Prv 31:23περίβλεπτος δὲ γίνεται ἐν πύλαις ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς ἡνίκα ἂν καθίσῃ ἐν συνεδρίῳ μετὰ τῶν γερόντων κατοίκων τῆς γῆςPrv 31:23
And her husband becomes a distinguished person in the gates, when he sits in council with the old inhabitants of the land.

Her husband is respected in the gates,
when he sits among the elders of the land.
24Prv 31:2424סָדִ֣ין עָ֭שְׂתָה וַתִּמְכֹּ֑ר וַ֝חֲג֗וֹר נָתְנָ֥ה לַֽכְּנַעֲנִֽי׃Prv 31:24
She makes linen garments and sells them,
and delivers sashes to the merchant.
Prv 31:24Prv 31:24σινδόνας ἐποίησεν καὶ ἀπέδοτο περιζώματα δὲ τοῖς ΧαναναίοιςPrv 31:24
She makes fine linens, and sells girdles to the Chananites: she opens her mouth heedfully and with propriety, and controls her tongue.

25Prv 31:2525עֹז־וְהָדָ֥ר לְבוּשָׁ֑הּ וַ֝תִּשְׂחַ֗ק לְי֣וֹם אַחֲרֽוֹן׃Prv 31:25
Strength and dignity are her clothing.
She laughs at the time to come.
Prv 31:25Prv 31:25στόμα αὐτῆς διήνοιξεν προσεχόντως καὶ ἐννόμως καὶ τάξιν ἐστείλατο τῇ γλώσσῃ αὐτῆςPrv 31:25
She puts on strength and honour; and rejoices in the last days.

Strength and dignity are her clothing.
She laughs at the time to come.
26Prv 31:2626פִּ֭יהָ פָּתְחָ֣ה בְחָכְמָ֑ה וְתֽוֹרַת־חֶ֝֗סֶד עַל־לְשׁוֹנָֽהּ׃Prv 31:26
She opens her mouth with wisdom.
Faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Prv 31:26Prv 31:26ἰσχὺν καὶ εὐπρέπειαν ἐνεδύσατο καὶ εὐφράνθη ἐν ἡμέραις ἐσχάταιςPrv 31:26
But she opens her mouth wisely, and according to law.

Faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27Prv 31:2727צ֭וֹפִיָּה הֲלִיכ֣וֹת בֵּיתָ֑הּ וְלֶ֥חֶם עַ֝צְל֗וּת לֹ֣א תֹאכֵֽל׃Prv 31:27
She looks well to the ways of her household,
and doesn’t eat the bread of idleness.
Prv 31:27Prv 31:27στεγναὶ διατριβαὶ οἴκων αὐτῆς σῖτα δὲ ὀκνηρὰ οὐκ ἔφαγενPrv 31:27
The ways of her household are careful, and she eats not the bread of idleness.
Prv 31:27
She looks well to the ways of her household,
and doesn’t eat the bread of idleness.
28Prv 31:2828קָ֣מוּ בָ֭נֶיהָ וַֽיְאַשְּׁר֑וּהָ בַּ֝עְלָ֗הּ וַֽיְהַֽלְלָֽהּ׃Prv 31:28
Her children rise up and call her blessed.
Her husband also praises her:
Prv 31:28Prv 31:28τὸ στόμα δὲ ἀνοίγει σοφῶς καὶ νομοθέσμως ἡ δὲ ἐλεημοσύνη αὐτῆς ἀνέστησεν τὰ τέκνα αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπλούτησαν καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς ᾔνεσεν αὐτήνPrv 31:28
And her kindness to them sets up her children for them, and they grow rich, and her husband praises her.
Prv 31:28
Her children rise up and call her blessed.
Her husband also praises her:
29Prv 31:2929רַבּ֣וֹת בָּ֭נוֹת עָ֣שׂוּ חָ֑יִל וְ֝אַ֗תְּ עָלִ֥ית עַל־כֻּלָּֽנָה׃Prv 31:29
“Many women do noble things,
but you excel them all.”
Prv 31:29Prv 31:29πολλαὶ θυγατέρες ἐκτήσαντο πλοῦτον πολλαὶ ἐποίησαν δυνατά σὺ δὲ ὑπέρκεισαι καὶ ὑπερῆρας πάσαςPrv 31:29
Many daughters have obtained wealth, many have wrought valiantly; but thou hast exceeded, thou hast surpassed all.
Prv 31:29

30Prv 31:3030שֶׁ֣קֶר הַ֭חֵן וְהֶ֣בֶל הַיֹּ֑פִי אִשָּׁ֥ה יִרְאַת־יְ֝הוָ֗ה הִ֣יא תִתְהַלָּֽל׃Prv 31:30
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain;
but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.
Prv 31:30Prv 31:30ψευδεῖς ἀρέσκειαι καὶ μάταιον κάλλος γυναικός γυνὴ γὰρ συνετὴ εὐλογεῖται φόβον δὲ κυρίου αὕτη αἰνείτωPrv 31:30
Charms are false, and woman's beauty is vain: for it is a wise woman that is blessed, and let her praise the fear the Lord.
Prv 31:30
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain;
but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.servility can be faked and a woman's beauty is vain, but an inisghtful woman is well spoken of, let her praise the fear of the Lord
