He that loves instruction loves sense, but he that hates reproofs is a fool.

Whoever loves correction loves knowledge,

2Prv 12:22ט֗וֹב יָפִ֣יק רָ֭צוֹן מֵיְהוָ֑ה וְאִ֖ישׁ מְזִמּ֣וֹת יַרְשִֽׁיעַ׃Prv 12:2
A good man shall obtain favor from Yahweh,
but he will condemn a man of wicked devices.
Prv 12:2Prv 12:2κρείσσων ὁ εὑρὼν χάριν παρὰ κυρίῳ ἀνὴρ δὲ παράνομος παρασιωπηθήσεταιPrv 12:2
He that has found favour with the Lord is made better; but a transgressor shall be passed over in silence.
Prv 12:2
A good man shall obtain favor from Yahweh,

3Prv 12:33לֹא־יִכּ֣וֹן אָדָ֣ם בְּרֶ֑שַׁע וְשֹׁ֥רֶשׁ צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים בַּל־יִמּֽוֹט׃Prv 12:3
A man shall not be established by wickedness,
but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Prv 12:3Prv 12:3οὐ κατορθώσει ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ἀνόμου αἱ δὲ ῥίζαι τῶν δικαίων οὐκ ἐξαρθήσονταιPrv 12:3
A man shall not prosper by wickedness; but the roots of the righteous shall not be taken up.
Prv 12:3
A man shall not be established by wickedness,
but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4Prv 12:44אֵֽשֶׁת־חַ֭יִל עֲטֶ֣רֶת בַּעְלָ֑הּ וּכְרָקָ֖ב בְּעַצְמוֹתָ֣יו מְבִישָֽׁה׃Prv 12:4
A worthy woman is the crown of her husband,
but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.
Prv 12:4Prv 12:4γυνὴ ἀνδρεία στέφανος τῷ ἀνδρὶ αὐτῆς ὥσπερ δὲ ἐν ξύλῳ σκώληξ οὕτως ἄνδρα ἀπόλλυσιν γυνὴ κακοποιόςPrv 12:4
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but as a worm in wood, so a bad woman destroys her husband.
Prv 12:4
A worthy woman is the crown of her husband,
but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.
5Prv 12:55מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת צַדִּיקִ֣ים מִשְׁפָּ֑ט תַּחְבֻּל֖וֹת רְשָׁעִ֣ים מִרְמָֽה׃Prv 12:5
The thoughts of the righteous are just,
but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
Prv 12:5Prv 12:5λογισμοὶ δικαίων κρίματα κυβερνῶσιν δὲ ἀσεβεῖς δόλουςPrv 12:5
The thoughts of the righteous are true judgments; but ungodly men devise deceits.
Prv 12:5
The thoughts of the righteous are just,
but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
6Prv 12:66דִּבְרֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֣ים אֱרָב־דָּ֑ם וּפִ֥י יְ֝שָׁרִ֗ים יַצִּילֵֽם׃Prv 12:6
The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood,
but the speech of the upright rescues them.
Prv 12:6Prv 12:6λόγοι ἀσεβῶν δόλιοι στόμα δὲ ὀρθῶν ῥύσεται αὐτούςPrv 12:6
The words of ungodly men are crafty; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Prv 12:6
The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood,

7Prv 12:77הָפ֣וֹךְ רְשָׁעִ֣ים וְאֵינָ֑ם וּבֵ֖ית צַדִּיקִ֣ים יַעֲמֹֽד׃Prv 12:7
The wicked are overthrown, and are no more,
but the house of the righteous shall stand.
Prv 12:7Prv 12:7οὗ ἐὰν στραφῇ ἀσεβὴς ἀφανίζεται οἶκοι δὲ δικαίων παραμένουσινPrv 12:7
When the ungodly is overthrown, he vanishes away; but the houses of the just remain.
Prv 12:7
The wicked are overthrown, and are no more,
but the house of the righteous shall stand.
8Prv 12:88לְֽפִי־שִׂ֭כְלוֹ יְהֻלַּל־אִ֑ישׁ וְנַעֲוֵה־לֵ֝֗ב יִהְיֶ֥ה לָבֽוּז׃Prv 12:8
A man shall be commended according to his wisdom,
but he who has a warped mind shall be despised.
Prv 12:8Prv 12:8στόμα συνετοῦ ἐγκωμιάζεται ὑπὸ ἀνδρός νωθροκάρδιος δὲ μυκτηρίζεταιPrv 12:8
The mouth of an understanding man is praised by a man; but he that is dull of heart is had in derision.
Prv 12:8
A man shall be commended according to his wisdom,
but he who has a warped mind shall be despised.
9Prv 12:99ט֣וֹב נִ֭קְלֶה וְעֶ֣בֶד ל֑וֹ מִ֝מְּתַכַּבֵּ֗ד וַחֲסַר־לָֽחֶם׃Prv 12:9
Better is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant,
than he who honors himself, and lacks bread.
Prv 12:9Prv 12:9κρείσσων ἀνὴρ ἐν ἀτιμίᾳ δουλεύων ἑαυτῷ ἢ τιμὴν ἑαυτῷ περιτιθεὶς καὶ προσδεόμενος ἄρτουPrv 12:9
Better is a man in dishonour serving himself, than one honouring himself and wanting bread.
Prv 12:9
Better is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant,
than he who honors himself, and lacks bread.
10Prv 12:1010יוֹדֵ֣עַ צַ֭דִּיק נֶ֣פֶשׁ בְּהֶמְתּ֑וֹ וְֽרַחֲמֵ֥י רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים אַכְזָרִֽי׃Prv 12:10
A righteous man respects the life of his animal,
but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Prv 12:10Prv 12:10δίκαιος οἰκτίρει ψυχὰς κτηνῶν αὐτοῦ τὰ δὲ σπλάγχνα τῶν ἀσεβῶν ἀνελεήμοναPrv 12:10
A righteous man has pity for the lives of his cattle; but the bowels of the ungodly are unmerciful.
Prv 12:10
A righteous man respects the life of his animal,

He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread,
but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding.
Prv 12:11Prv 12:11ὁ ἐργαζόμενος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γῆν ἐμπλησθήσεται ἄρτων οἱ δὲ διώκοντες μάταια ἐνδεεῖς φρενῶνPrv 12:11
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread; but they that pursue vanities are void of understanding. He that enjoys himself in banquets of wine, shall leave dishonour in his own strong holds.
Prv 12:11

12Prv 12:1212חָמַ֣ד רָ֭שָׁע מְצ֣וֹד רָעִ֑ים וְשֹׁ֖רֶשׁ צַדִּיקִ֣ים יִתֵּֽן׃Prv 12:12
The wicked desires the plunder of evil men,
but the root of the righteous flourishes.

The desires of the ungodly are evil; but the roots of the godly are firmly set.

13Prv 12:1313בְּפֶ֣שַׁע שְׂ֭פָתַיִם מוֹקֵ֣שׁ רָ֑ע וַיֵּצֵ֖א מִצָּרָ֣ה צַדִּֽיק׃Prv 12:13
An evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips,
but the righteous shall come out of trouble.
Prv 12:13Prv 12:13δι’ ἁμαρτίαν χειλέων ἐμπίπτει εἰς παγίδας ἁμαρτωλός ἐκφεύγει δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν δίκαιοςPrv 12:13
For the sin of his lips a sinner falls into snare; but a righteous man escapes from them. He whose looks are gentle shall be pitied, but he that contends in the gates will afflict souls.
Prv 12:13
An evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips,
but the righteous shall come out of trouble.
14Prv 12:1414מִפְּרִ֣י פִי־אִ֭ישׁ יִשְׂבַּע־ט֑וֹב וּגְמ֥וּל יְדֵי־אָ֝דָ֗ם ‏{ ישוב יָשִׁ֥יב }‏ לֽוֹ׃

Prv 12:14
A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.
The work of a man’s hands shall be rewarded to him.
Prv 12:14Prv 12:14ἀπὸ καρπῶν στόματος ψυχὴ ἀνδρὸς πλησθήσεται ἀγαθῶν ἀνταπόδομα δὲ χειλέων αὐτοῦ δοθήσεται αὐτῷPrv 12:14
The soul of a man shall be filled with good from the fruits of his mouth; and the recompence of his lips shall be given to him.
Prv 12:14
A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.
The work of a man’s hands shall be rewarded to him.
15Prv 12:1515דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֱ֭וִיל יָשָׁ֣ר בְּעֵינָ֑יו וְשֹׁמֵ֖עַ לְעֵצָ֣ה חָכָֽם׃Prv 12:15
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but he who is wise listens to counsel.

The ways of fools are right in their own eyes; but a wise man hearkens to counsels.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but he who is wise listens to counsel.
16Prv 12:1616אֱוִ֗יל בַּ֭יּוֹם יִוָּדַ֣ע כַּעְס֑וֹ וְכֹסֶ֖ה קָל֣וֹן עָרֽוּם׃Prv 12:16
A fool shows his annoyance the same day,
but one who overlooks an insult is prudent.
Prv 12:16Prv 12:16ἄφρων αὐθημερὸν ἐξαγγέλλει ὀργὴν αὐτοῦ κρύπτει δὲ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ἀτιμίαν πανοῦργοςPrv 12:16
A fool declares his wrath the same day; but a prudent man hides his own disgrace.
Prv 12:16
A fool shows his annoyance the same day,

17Prv 12:1717יָפִ֣יחַ אֱ֭מוּנָה יַגִּ֣יד צֶ֑דֶק וְעֵ֖ד שְׁקָרִ֣ים מִרְמָֽה׃Prv 12:17

but a false witness lies.

A righteous man declares the open truth; but an unjust witness is deceitful.
Prv 12:17
He who is truthful testifies honestly,
but a false witness lies.
18Prv 12:1818יֵ֣שׁ בּ֭וֹטֶה כְּמַדְקְר֣וֹת חָ֑רֶב וּלְשׁ֖וֹן חֲכָמִ֣ים מַרְפֵּֽא׃Prv 12:18
There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword,
but the tongue of the wise heals.
Prv 12:18Prv 12:18εἰσὶν οἳ λέγοντες τιτρώσκουσιν μαχαίρᾳ γλῶσσαι δὲ σοφῶν ἰῶνταιPrv 12:18
Some wound as they speak, like swords; but the tongues of the wise heal.
Prv 12:18
There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword,
but the tongue of the wise heals.
19Prv 12:1919שְֽׂפַת־אֱ֭מֶת תִּכּ֣וֹן לָעַ֑ד וְעַד־אַ֝רְגִּ֗יעָה לְשׁ֣וֹן שָֽׁקֶר׃Prv 12:19
Truth’s lips will be established forever,
but a lying tongue is only momentary.
Prv 12:19Prv 12:19χείλη ἀληθινὰ κατορθοῖ μαρτυρίαν μάρτυς δὲ ταχὺς γλῶσσαν ἔχει ἄδικονPrv 12:19
True lips establish testimony; but a hasty witness has an unjust tongue.
Prv 12:19
Truth’s lips will be established forever,
but a lying tongue is only momentary.
20Prv 12:2020מִ֭רְמָה בְּלֶב־חֹ֣רְשֵׁי רָ֑ע וּֽלְיֹעֲצֵ֖י שָׁל֣וֹם שִׂמְחָֽה׃Prv 12:20
Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil,
but joy comes to the promoters of peace.
Prv 12:20Prv 12:20δόλος ἐν καρδίᾳ τεκταινομένου κακά οἱ δὲ βουλόμενοι εἰρήνην εὐφρανθήσονταιPrv 12:20
There is deceit in the heart of him that imagines evil; but they that love peace shall rejoice.
Prv 12:20
Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil,
but joy comes to the promoters of peace.
21Prv 12:2121לֹא־יְאֻנֶּ֣ה לַצַּדִּ֣יק כָּל־אָ֑וֶן וּ֝רְשָׁעִ֗ים מָ֣לְאוּ רָֽע׃Prv 12:21
No mischief shall happen to the righteous,
but the wicked shall be filled with evil.
Prv 12:21Prv 12:21οὐκ ἀρέσει τῷ δικαίῳ οὐδὲν ἄδικον οἱ δὲ ἀσεβεῖς πλησθήσονται κακῶνPrv 12:21
No injustice will please a just man; but the ungodly will be filled with mischief.

22Prv 12:2222תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה שִׂפְתֵי־שָׁ֑קֶר וְעֹשֵׂ֖י אֱמוּנָ֣ה רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃Prv 12:22
Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,
but those who do the truth are his delight.
Prv 12:22Prv 12:22βδέλυγμα κυρίῳ χείλη ψευδῆ ὁ δὲ ποιῶν πίστεις δεκτὸς παρ’ αὐτῷPrv 12:22
Lying lips are a abomination to the Lord; but he that deals faithfully is accepted with him.
Prv 12:22
Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,
but those who do the truth are his delight.
23Prv 12:2323אָדָ֣ם עָ֭רוּם כֹּ֣סֶה דָּ֑עַת וְלֵ֥ב כְּ֝סִילִ֗ים יִקְרָ֥א אִוֶּֽלֶת׃Prv 12:23
A prudent man keeps his knowledge,
but the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness.
Prv 12:23Prv 12:23ἀνὴρ συνετὸς θρόνος αἰσθήσεως καρδία δὲ ἀφρόνων συναντήσεται ἀραῖςPrv 12:23
An understanding man is a throne of wisdom; but the heart of fools shall meet with curses.
Prv 12:23
A prudent man keeps his knowledge,
but the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness.
24Prv 12:2424יַד־חָרוּצִ֥ים תִּמְשׁ֑וֹל וּ֝רְמִיָּ֗ה תִּהְיֶ֥ה לָמַֽס׃Prv 12:24
The hands of the diligent ones shall rule,
but laziness ends in slave labor.
Prv 12:24Prv 12:24χεὶρ ἐκλεκτῶν κρατήσει εὐχερῶς δόλιοι δὲ ἔσονται εἰς προνομήνPrv 12:24
The hand of chosen men shall easily obtain rule; but the deceitful shall be for a prey.
Prv 12:24
The hands of the diligent ones shall rule,
but laziness ends in slave labor.
25Prv 12:2525דְּאָגָ֣ה בְלֶב־אִ֣ישׁ יַשְׁחֶ֑נָּה וְדָבָ֖ר ט֣וֹב יְשַׂמְּחֶֽנָּה׃Prv 12:25
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down,
but a kind word makes it glad.
Prv 12:25Prv 12:25φοβερὸς λόγος καρδίαν ταράσσει ἀνδρὸς δικαίου ἀγγελία δὲ ἀγαθὴ εὐφραίνει αὐτόνPrv 12:25
A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man; but a good message rejoices him.
Prv 12:25
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down,
but a kind word makes it glad.
26Prv 12:2626יָתֵ֣ר מֵרֵעֵ֣הוּ צַדִּ֑יק וְדֶ֖רֶךְ רְשָׁעִ֣ים תַּתְעֵֽם׃Prv 12:26
A righteous person is cautious in friendship,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Prv 12:26Prv 12:26ἐπιγνώμων δίκαιος ἑαυτοῦ φίλος ἔσται αἱ δὲ γνῶμαι τῶν ἀσεβῶν ἀνεπιεικεῖς ἁμαρτάνοντας καταδιώξεται κακά ἡ δὲ ὁδὸς τῶν ἀσεβῶν πλανήσει αὐτούςPrv 12:26
A just arbitrator shall be his own friend; but mischief shall pursue sinners; and the way of ungodly men shall lead them astray.
Prv 12:26
A righteous person is cautious in friendship,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27Prv 12:2727לֹא־יַחֲרֹ֣ךְ רְמִיָּ֣ה צֵיד֑וֹ וְהוֹן־אָדָ֖ם יָקָ֣ר חָרֽוּץ׃Prv 12:27
The slothful man doesn’t roast his game,
but the possessions of diligent men are prized.
Prv 12:27Prv 12:27οὐκ ἐπιτεύξεται δόλιος θήρας κτῆμα δὲ τίμιον ἀνὴρ καθαρόςPrv 12:27
A deceitful man shall catch no game; but a blameless man is a precious possession.
Prv 12:27
The slothful man doesn’t roast his game,
but the possessions of diligent men are prized.
28Prv 12:2828בְּאֹֽרַח־צְדָקָ֥ה חַיִּ֑ים וְדֶ֖רֶךְ נְתִיבָ֣ה אַל־מָֽוֶת׃Prv 12:28
In the way of righteousness is life;
in its path there is no death.
Prv 12:28Prv 12:28ἐν ὁδοῖς δικαιοσύνης ζωή ὁδοὶ δὲ μνησικάκων εἰς θάνατονPrv 12:28
In the ways of righteousness is life; but the ways of those that remember injuries lead to death.
Prv 12:28
In the way of righteousness is life;
in its path there is no death.
