2Jb 16:22שָׁמַ֣עְתִּי כְאֵ֣לֶּה רַבּ֑וֹת מְנַחֲמֵ֖י עָמָ֣ל כֻּלְּכֶֽם׃Jb 16:2
“I have heard many such things.
You are all miserable comforters!
Jb 16:2Jb 16:2ἀκήκοα τοιαῦτα πολλά παρακλήτορες κακῶν πάντεςJb 16:2
I have heard many such things: poor comforters are ye all.

3Jb 16:33הֲקֵ֥ץ לְדִבְרֵי־ר֑וּחַ א֥וֹ מַה־יַּ֝מְרִֽיצְךָ֗ כִּ֣י תַעֲנֶֽה׃Jb 16:3
Shall vain words have an end?
Or what provokes you that you answer?
Jb 16:3Jb 16:3τί γάρ μὴ τάξις ἐστὶν ῥήμασιν πνεύματος ἢ τί παρενοχλήσει σοι ὅτι ἀποκρίνῃJb 16:3
What! is there any reason in vain words? or what will hinder thee from answering?
Jb 16:3
Shall vain words have an end?
Or what provokes you that you answer?
4Jb 16:44גַּ֤ם ׀ אָנֹכִי֮ כָּכֶ֪ם אֲדַ֫בֵּ֥רָה ל֤וּ־יֵ֪שׁ נַפְשְׁכֶ֡ם תַּ֤חַת נַפְשִׁ֗י אַחְבִּ֣ירָה עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם בְּמִלִּ֑ים וְאָנִ֥יעָה עֲ֝לֵיכֶ֗ם בְּמ֣וֹ רֹאשִֽׁי׃Jb 16:4
I also could speak as you do.
If your soul were in my soul’s place,
I could join words together against you,
and shake my head at you,
Jb 16:4Jb 16:4κἀγὼ καθ’ ὑμᾶς λαλήσω εἰ ὑπέκειτό γε ἡ ψυχὴ ὑμῶν ἀντὶ τῆς ἐμῆς εἶτ’ ἐναλοῦμαι ὑμῖν ῥήμασιν κινήσω δὲ καθ’ ὑμῶν κεφαλήνJb 16:4
I also will speak as ye do: if indeed your soul were in my soul's stead,
Jb 16:4
I also could speak as you do.
If your soul were in my soul’s place,
I could join words together against you,
and shake my head at you,
5Jb 16:55אֲאַמִּצְכֶ֥ם בְּמוֹ־פִ֑י וְנִ֖יד שְׂפָתַ֣י יַחְשֹֽׂךְ׃Jb 16:5
but I would strengthen you with my mouth.
The solace of my lips would relieve you.
Jb 16:5Jb 16:5εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαιJb 16:5
then would I insult you with words, and I would shake my head at you.
Jb 16:5
but I would strengthen you with my mouth.
The solace of my lips would relieve you.
6Jb 16:66אִֽם־אֲ֭דַבְּרָה לֹא־יֵחָשֵׂ֣ךְ כְּאֵבִ֑י וְ֝אַחְדְּלָ֗ה מַה־מִנִּ֥י יַהֲלֹֽךְ׃Jb 16:6
“Though I speak, my grief is not subsided.
Though I forbear, what am I eased?
Jb 16:6Jb 16:6ἐὰν γὰρ λαλήσω οὐκ ἀλγήσω τὸ τραῦμα ἐὰν δὲ καὶ σιωπήσω τί ἔλαττον τρωθήσομαιJb 16:6
And would there were strength in my mouth, and I would not spare the movement of my lips.
Jb 16:6
“Though I speak, my grief is not subsided.
Though I forbear, what am I eased?
7Jb 16:77אַךְ־עַתָּ֥ה הֶלְאָ֑נִי הֲ֝שִׁמּ֗וֹתָ כָּל־עֲדָתִֽי׃Jb 16:7
But now, God, you have surely worn me out.
You have made desolate all my company.
Jb 16:7Jb 16:7νῦν δὲ κατάκοπόν με πεποίηκεν μωρόν σεσηπόταJb 16:7
For if I should speak, I shall not feel the pain of my wound: and if I should be silent, how shall I be wounded the less?
Jb 16:7
But now, God, you have surely worn me out.
You have made desolate all my company.
8Jb 16:88וַֽ֭תִּקְמְטֵנִי לְעֵ֣ד הָיָ֑ה וַיָּ֥קָם בִּ֥י כַ֝חֲשִׁ֗י בְּפָנַ֥י יַעֲנֶֽה׃Jb 16:8
You have shriveled me up. This is a witness against me.
My leanness rises up against me.
It testifies to my face.
Jb 16:8Jb 16:8καὶ ἐπελάβου μου εἰς μαρτύριον ἐγενήθη καὶ ἀνέστη ἐν ἐμοὶ τὸ ψεῦδός μου κατὰ πρόσωπόν μου ἀνταπεκρίθηJb 16:8
But now he has made me weary, and a worn-out fool; and thou hast laid hold of me.
Jb 16:8
You have shriveled me up. This is a witness against me.
My leanness rises up against me.
It testifies to my face.
9Jb 16:99אַפּ֤וֹ טָרַ֨ף ׀ וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֵ֗נִי חָרַ֣ק עָלַ֣י בְּשִׁנָּ֑יו צָרִ֓י ׀ יִלְט֖וֹשׁ עֵינָ֣יו לִֽי׃Jb 16:9
He has torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me.
He has gnashed on me with his teeth.
My adversary sharpens his eyes on me.
Jb 16:9Jb 16:9ὀργῇ χρησάμενος κατέβαλέν με ἔβρυξεν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ τοὺς ὀδόντας βέλη πειρατῶν αὐτοῦ ἐπ’ ἐμοὶ ἔπεσενJb 16:9
My falsehood has become a testimony, and has risen up against me: it has confronted me to my face.
Jb 16:9
He has torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me.
He has gnashed on me with his teeth.
My adversary sharpens his eyes on me.
10Jb 16:1010פָּעֲר֬וּ עָלַ֨י ׀ בְּפִיהֶ֗ם בְּ֭חֶרְפָּה הִכּ֣וּ לְחָיָ֑י יַ֝֗חַד עָלַ֥י יִתְמַלָּאֽוּן׃Jb 16:10
They have gaped on me with their mouth.
They have struck me on the cheek reproachfully.
They gather themselves together against me.
Jb 16:10Jb 16:10ἀκίσιν ὀφθαλμῶν ἐνήλατο ὀξεῖ ἔπαισέν με εἰς σιαγόνα ὁμοθυμαδὸν δὲ κατέδραμον ἐπ’ ἐμοίJb 16:10
In his anger he has cast me down; he has gnashed his teeth upon me: the weapons of his robbers have fallen upon me.

They have gaped on me with their mouth.

11Jb 16:1111יַסְגִּירֵ֣נִי אֵ֭ל אֶ֣ל עֲוִ֑יל וְעַל־יְדֵ֖י רְשָׁעִ֣ים יִרְטֵֽנִי׃Jb 16:11
God delivers me to the ungodly,
and casts me into the hands of the wicked.
Jb 16:11Jb 16:11παρέδωκεν γάρ με ὁ κύριος εἰς χεῖρας ἀδίκου ἐπὶ δὲ ἀσεβέσιν ἔρριψέν μεJb 16:11
He has attacked me with the keen glances of his eyes; with his sharp spear he has smitten me down upon my knees; and they have run upon me with one accord.
Jb 16:11
God delivers me to the ungodly,
and casts me into the hands of the wicked.
12Jb 16:1212שָׁ֘לֵ֤ו הָיִ֨יתִי ׀ וַֽיְפַרְפְּרֵ֗נִי וְאָחַ֣ז בְּ֭עָרְפִּי וַֽיְפַצְפְּצֵ֑נִי וַיְקִימֵ֥נִי ל֝֗וֹ לְמַטָּרָֽה׃Jb 16:12
I was at ease, and he broke me apart.
Yes, he has taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces.
He has also set me up for his target.
Jb 16:12Jb 16:12εἰρηνεύοντα διεσκέδασέν με λαβών με τῆς κόμης διέτιλεν κατέστησέν με ὥσπερ σκοπόνJb 16:12
For the Lord has delivered me into the hands of unrighteous men, and thrown me upon the ungodly.
Jb 16:12
I was at ease, and he broke me apart.

13Jb 16:1313יָ֘סֹ֤בּוּ עָלַ֨י ׀ רַבָּ֗יו יְפַלַּ֣ח כִּ֭לְיוֹתַי וְלֹ֣א יַחְמ֑וֹל יִשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ לָ֝אָ֗רֶץ מְרֵרָֽתִי׃Jb 16:13
His archers surround me.
He splits my kidneys apart, and does not spare.
He pours out my gall on the ground.
Jb 16:13Jb 16:13ἐκύκλωσάν με λόγχαις βάλλοντες εἰς νεφρούς μου οὐ φειδόμενοι ἐξέχεαν εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν χολήν μουJb 16:13
When I was at peace he distracted me: he took me by the hair of the head, and plucked it out: he set me up as a mark.
Jb 16:13
His archers surround me.

He runs on me like a giant.
Jb 16:14Jb 16:14κατέβαλόν με πτῶμα ἐπὶ πτώματι ἔδραμον πρός με δυνάμενοιJb 16:14
They surrounded me with spears, aiming at my reins: without sparing me they poured out my gall upon the ground.
Jb 16:14
He breaks me with breach on breach.
He runs on me like a giant.
15Jb 16:1515שַׂ֣ק תָּ֭פַרְתִּי עֲלֵ֣י גִלְדִּ֑י וְעֹלַ֖לְתִּי בֶעָפָ֣ר קַרְנִֽי׃Jb 16:15
I have sewed sackcloth on my skin,
and have thrust my horn in the dust.
Jb 16:15Jb 16:15σάκκον ἔρραψα ἐπὶ βύρσης μου τὸ δὲ σθένος μου ἐν γῇ ἐσβέσθηJb 16:15
They overthrew me with fall upon fall: they ran upon me in their might.
Jb 16:15
I have sewed sackcloth on my skin,

16Jb 16:1616פָּנַ֣י ‏{ חמרמרה חֳ֭מַרְמְרוּ }‏ מִנִּי־בֶ֑כִי וְעַ֖ל עַפְעַפַּ֣י צַלְמָֽוֶת׃

Jb 16:16
My face is red with weeping.
Deep darkness is on my eyelids.
Jb 16:16Jb 16:16ἡ γαστήρ μου συγκέκαυται ἀπὸ κλαυθμοῦ ἐπὶ δὲ βλεφάροις μου σκιάJb 16:16
They sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and my strength has been spent on the ground.
Jb 16:16
My face is red with weeping.

17Jb 16:1717עַ֭ל לֹא־חָמָ֣ס בְּכַפָּ֑י וּֽתְפִלָּתִ֥י זַכָּֽה׃Jb 16:17
Although there is no violence in my hands,
and my prayer is pure.
Jb 16:17Jb 16:17ἄδικον δὲ οὐδὲν ἦν ἐν χερσίν μου εὐχὴ δέ μου καθαράJb 16:17
My belly has been parched with wailing, and darkness is on my eyelids.

Although there is no violence in my hands,
and my prayer is pure.
18Jb 16:1818אֶ֭רֶץ אַל־תְּכַסִּ֣י דָמִ֑י וְֽאַל־יְהִ֥י מָ֝ק֗וֹם לְזַעֲקָתִֽי׃Jb 16:18
“Earth, don’t cover my blood.
Let my cry have no place to rest.
Jb 16:18Jb 16:18γῆ μὴ ἐπικαλύψῃς ἐφ’ αἵματι τῆς σαρκός μου μηδὲ εἴη τόπος τῇ κραυγῇ μουJb 16:18
Yet there was no injustice in my hands, and my prayer is pure.
Jb 16:18
“Earth, don’t cover my blood.
Let my cry have no place to rest.
19Jb 16:1919גַּם־עַ֭תָּה הִנֵּה־בַשָּׁמַ֣יִם עֵדִ֑י וְ֝שָׂהֲדִ֗י בַּמְּרוֹמִֽים׃Jb 16:19
Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven.
He who vouches for me is on high.

21Jb 16:2121וְיוֹכַ֣ח לְגֶ֣בֶר עִם־אֱל֑וֹהַּ וּֽבֶן־אָדָ֥ם לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃Jb 16:21

of a son of man with his neighbor!
Jb 16:21Jb 16:21εἴη δὲ ἔλεγχος ἀνδρὶ ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦJb 16:21
Let my supplication come to the Lord, and let mine eye weep before him.
Jb 16:21
that he would maintain the right of a man with God,
of a son of man with his neighbor!
22Jb 16:2222כִּֽי־שְׁנ֣וֹת מִסְפָּ֣ר יֶאֱתָ֑יוּ וְאֹ֖רַח לֹא־אָשׁ֣וּב אֶהֱלֹֽךְ׃Jb 16:22
For when a few years are come,
I shall go the way of no return.
Jb 16:22Jb 16:22ἔτη δὲ ἀριθμητὰ ἥκασιν ὁδῷ δέ ᾗ οὐκ ἐπαναστραφήσομαι πορεύσομαιJb 16:22
Oh that a man might plead before the Lord, even as the son of man with his neighbor!
