Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness,
and princes shall rule in justice.
Is 32:1Is 32:1ἰδοὺ γὰρ βασιλεὺς δίκαιος βασιλεύσει καὶ ἄρχοντες μετὰ κρίσεως ἄρξουσινIs 32:1
For, behold, a righteous king shall reign, and princes shall govern with judgment.
Is 32:1
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness,
and princes shall rule in justice.
2Is 32:22וְהָיָה־אִ֥ישׁ כְּמַֽחֲבֵא־ר֖וּחַ וְסֵ֣תֶר זָ֑רֶם כְּפַלְגֵי־מַ֣יִם בְּצָי֔וֹן כְּצֵ֥ל סֶֽלַע־כָּבֵ֖ד בְּאֶ֥רֶץ עֲיֵפָֽה׃Is 32:2
A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind,
and a covert from the storm,
as streams of water in a dry place,
as the shade of a large rock in a weary land.
Is 32:2Is 32:2καὶ ἔσται ὁ ἄνθρωπος κρύπτων τοὺς λόγους αὐτοῦ καὶ κρυβήσεται ὡς ἀφ’ ὕδατος φερομένου καὶ φανήσεται ἐν Σιων ὡς ποταμὸς φερόμενος ἔνδοξος ἐν γῇ διψώσῃIs 32:2
And a man shall hide his words, and be hidden, as from rushing water, and shall appear in Sion as a rushing river, glorious in a thirsty land.
Is 32:2

3Is 32:33וְלֹ֥א תִשְׁעֶ֖ינָה עֵינֵ֣י רֹאִ֑ים וְאָזְנֵ֥י שֹׁמְעִ֖ים תִּקְשַֽׁבְנָה׃Is 32:3
The eyes of those who see will not be dim,
and the ears of those who hear will listen.
Is 32:3Is 32:3καὶ οὐκέτι ἔσονται πεποιθότες ἐπ’ ἀνθρώποις ἀλλὰ τὰ ὦτα δώσουσιν ἀκούεινIs 32:3
And they shall no more trust in men, but they shall incline their ears to hear.
Is 32:3
The eyes of those who see will not be dim,
and the ears of those who hear will listen.
4Is 32:44וּלְבַ֥ב נִמְהָרִ֖ים יָבִ֣ין לָדָ֑עַת וּלְשׁ֣וֹן עִלְּגִ֔ים תְּמַהֵ֖ר לְדַבֵּ֥ר צָחֽוֹת׃Is 32:4
The heart of the rash will understand knowledge,
and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
Is 32:4Is 32:4καὶ ἡ καρδία τῶν ἀσθενούντων προσέξει τοῦ ἀκούειν καὶ αἱ γλῶσσαι αἱ ψελλίζουσαι ταχὺ μαθήσονται λαλεῖν εἰρήνηνIs 32:4
And the heart of the weak ones shall attend to hear, and the stammering tongues shall soon learn to speak peace.
Is 32:4
The heart of the rash will understand knowledge,

5Is 32:55לֹֽא־יִקָּרֵ֥א ע֛וֹד לְנָבָ֖ל נָדִ֑יב וּלְכִילַ֕י לֹ֥א יֵֽאָמֵ֖ר שֽׁוֹעַ׃Is 32:5
The fool will no longer be called noble,
nor the scoundrel be highly respected.
Is 32:5Is 32:5καὶ οὐκέτι μὴ εἴπωσιν τῷ μωρῷ ἄρχειν καὶ οὐκέτι μὴ εἴπωσιν οἱ ὑπηρέται σου σίγαIs 32:5
And they shall no more at all tell a fool to rule, and thy servants shall no more at all say, Be silent.
Is 32:5
The fool will no longer be called noble,
nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

6Is 32:66כִּ֤י נָבָל֙ נְבָלָ֣ה יְדַבֵּ֔ר וְלִבּ֖וֹ יַעֲשֶׂה־אָ֑וֶן לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת חֹ֗נֶף וּלְדַבֵּ֤ר אֶל־יְהוָה֙ תּוֹעָ֔ה לְהָרִיק֙ נֶ֣פֶשׁ רָעֵ֔ב וּמַשְׁקֶ֥ה צָמֵ֖א יַחְסִֽיר׃Is 32:6
For the fool will speak folly,
and his heart will work iniquity,
to practice profanity,
and to utter error against Yahweh,
To make empty the soul of the hungry,
and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
Is 32:6Is 32:6ὁ γὰρ μωρὸς μωρὰ λαλήσει καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ μάταια νοήσει τοῦ συντελεῖν ἄνομα καὶ λαλεῖν πρὸς κύριον πλάνησιν τοῦ διασπεῖραι ψυχὰς πεινώσας καὶ τὰς ψυχὰς τὰς διψώσας κενὰς ποιῆσαιIs 32:6
For the fool shall speak foolish words, and his heart shall meditate vanities, and to perform lawless deeds and to speak error against the Lord, to scatter hungry souls, and he will cause the thirsty souls to be empty.

For the fool will speak folly,
and his heart will work iniquity,

Is 32:7
The ways of the scoundrel are evil.
He devises wicked devices to destroy the humble with lying words,
even when the needy speaks right.
Is 32:7Is 32:7ἡ γὰρ βουλὴ τῶν πονηρῶν ἄνομα βουλεύσεται καταφθεῖραι ταπεινοὺς ἐν λόγοις ἀδίκοις καὶ διασκεδάσαι λόγους ταπεινῶν ἐν κρίσειIs 32:7
For the counsel of the wicked will devise iniquity, to destroy the poor with unjust words, and ruin the cause of the poor in judgment.

But the noble devises noble things;
and he will continue in noble things.
Is 32:8Is 32:8οἱ δὲ εὐσεβεῖς συνετὰ ἐβουλεύσαντο καὶ αὕτη ἡ βουλὴ μενεῖIs 32:8
But the godly have devised wise measures, and this counsel shall stand.

But the noble devises noble things;
and he will continue in noble things.
9Is 32:99נָשִׁים֙ שַֽׁאֲנַנּ֔וֹת קֹ֖מְנָה שְׁמַ֣עְנָה קוֹלִ֑י בָּנוֹת֙ בֹּֽטח֔וֹת הַאְזֵ֖נָּה אִמְרָתִֽי׃Is 32:9
Rise up, you women who are at ease! Hear my voice!
You careless daughters, give ear to my speech!
Is 32:9Is 32:9γυναῖκες πλούσιαι ἀνάστητε καὶ ἀκούσατε τῆς φωνῆς μου θυγατέρες ἐν ἐλπίδι ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους μουIs 32:9
Rise up, ye rich women, and hear my voice; ye confident daughters, hearken to my words.
Is 32:9
Rise up, you women who are at ease! Hear my voice!
You careless daughters, give ear to my speech!
10Is 32:1010יָמִים֙ עַל־שָׁנָ֔ה תִּרְגַּ֖זְנָה בֹּֽטְח֑וֹת כִּ֚י כָּלָ֣ה בָצִ֔יר אֹ֖סֶף בְּלִ֥י יָבֽוֹא׃Is 32:10
For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women;
for the vintage shall fail.
The harvest won’t come.
Is 32:10Is 32:10ἡμέρας ἐνιαυτοῦ μνείαν ποιήσασθε ἐν ὀδύνῃ μετ’ ἐλπίδος ἀνήλωται ὁ τρύγητος πέπαυται ὁ σπόρος καὶ οὐκέτι μὴ ἔλθῃIs 32:10
Remember for a full year in pain, yet with hope: the vintage has been cut off; it has ceased, it shall by no means come again.
Is 32:10
For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women;

11Is 32:1111חִרְדוּ֙ שַֽׁאֲנַנּ֔וֹת רְגָ֖זָה בֹּֽטְח֑וֹת פְּשֹׁ֣טָֽה וְעֹ֔רָה וַחֲג֖וֹרָה עַל־חֲלָצָֽיִם׃Is 32:11
Tremble, you women who are at ease!
Be troubled, you careless ones!
Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked,
and put sackcloth on your waist.
Is 32:11Is 32:11ἔκστητε λυπήθητε αἱ πεποιθυῖαι ἐκδύσασθε γυμναὶ γένεσθε περιζώσασθε σάκκους τὰς ὀσφύαςIs 32:11
Be amazed, be pained, ye confident ones: strip you, bare yourselves, gird your loins;
Is 32:11
Tremble, you women who are at ease!
Be troubled, you careless ones!
Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked,

12Is 32:1212עַל־שָׁדַ֖יִם סֹֽפְדִ֑ים עַל־שְׂדֵי־חֶ֕מֶד עַל־גֶּ֖פֶן פֹּרִיָּֽה׃Is 32:12
Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields,
for the fruitful vine.
Is 32:12Is 32:12καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν μαστῶν κόπτεσθε ἀπὸ ἀγροῦ ἐπιθυμήματος καὶ ἀμπέλου γενήματοςIs 32:12
and beat your breasts, because of the pleasant field, and the fruit of the vine.

Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields,
for the fruitful vine.
13Is 32:1313עַ֚ל אַדְמַ֣ת עַמִּ֔י ק֥וֹץ שָׁמִ֖יר תַּֽעֲלֶ֑ה כִּ֚י עַל־כָּל־בָּתֵּ֣י מָשׂ֔וֹשׂ קִרְיָ֖ה עַלִּיזָֽה׃Is 32:13
Thorns and briars will come up on my people’s land;
yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.
Is 32:13Is 32:13ἡ γῆ τοῦ λαοῦ μου ἄκανθα καὶ χόρτος ἀναβήσεται καὶ ἐκ πάσης οἰκίας εὐφροσύνη ἀρθήσεται πόλις πλουσίαIs 32:13
As for the land of my people, the thorn and grass shall come upon it, and joy shall be removed from every house.
Is 32:13
Thorns and briars will come up on my people’s land;
yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.
14Is 32:1414כִּֽי־אַרְמ֣וֹן נֻטָּ֔שׁ הֲמ֥וֹן עִ֖יר עֻזָּ֑ב עֹ֣פֶל וָבַ֜חַן הָיָ֨ה בְעַ֤ד מְעָרוֹת֙ עַד־עוֹלָ֔ם מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ פְּרָאִ֖ים מִרְעֵ֥ה עֲדָרִֽים׃Is 32:14
For the palace will be forsaken.
The populous city will be deserted.
The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever,
a delight for wild donkeys,
a pasture of flocks;
Is 32:14Is 32:14οἶκοι ἐγκαταλελειμμένοι πλοῦτον πόλεως καὶ οἴκους ἐπιθυμητοὺς ἀφήσουσιν καὶ ἔσονται αἱ κῶμαι σπήλαια ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος εὐφροσύνη ὄνων ἀγρίων βοσκήματα ποιμένωνIs 32:14
As for the rich city, the houses are deserted; they shall abandon the wealth of the city, and the pleasant houses: and the villages shall be caves for ever, the joy of wild asses, shepherds' pastures;

15Is 32:1515עַד־יֵ֨עָרֶ֥ה עָלֵ֛ינוּ ר֖וּחַ מִמָּר֑וֹם וְהָיָ֤ה מִדְבָּר֙ לַכַּרְמֶ֔ל ‏{ וכרמל וְהַכַּרְמֶ֖ל }‏ לַיַּ֥עַר יֵחָשֵֽׁב׃

Is 32:15
Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high,
and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field is considered a forest.
Is 32:15Is 32:15ἕως ἂν ἐπέλθῃ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς πνεῦμα ἀφ’ ὑψηλοῦ καὶ ἔσται ἔρημος ὁ Χερμελ καὶ ὁ Χερμελ εἰς δρυμὸν λογισθήσεταιIs 32:15
until the Spirit shall come upon you from on high, and Chermel shall be desert, and Chermel shall be counted for a forest.
Is 32:15
Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high,
and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field is considered a forest.
16Is 32:1616וְשָׁכַ֥ן בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וּצְדָקָ֖ה בַּכַּרְמֶ֥ל תֵּשֵֽׁב׃Is 32:16
Then justice will dwell in the wilderness;
and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field.
Is 32:16Is 32:16καὶ ἀναπαύσεται ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνη ἐν τῷ Καρμήλῳ κατοικήσειIs 32:16
Then judgment shall abide in the wilderness, and righteousness shall dwell in Carmel.
Is 32:16
Then justice will dwell in the wilderness;
and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field.
17Is 32:1717וְהָיָ֛ה מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה הַצְּדָקָ֖ה שָׁל֑וֹם וַֽעֲבֹדַת֙ הַצְּדָקָ֔ה הַשְׁקֵ֥ט וָבֶ֖טַח עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃Is 32:17
The work of righteousness will be peace;
and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.
Is 32:17Is 32:17καὶ ἔσται τὰ ἔργα τῆς δικαιοσύνης εἰρήνη καὶ κρατήσει ἡ δικαιοσύνη ἀνάπαυσιν καὶ πεποιθότες ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνοςIs 32:17
And the works of righteousness shall be peace; and righteousness shall ensure rest, and the righteous shall be confident for ever.
Is 32:17
The work of righteousness will be peace;
and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.
18Is 32:1818וְיָשַׁ֥ב עַמִּ֖י בִּנְוֵ֣ה שָׁל֑וֹם וּֽבְמִשְׁכְּנוֹת֙ מִבְטַחִ֔ים וּבִמְנוּחֹ֖ת שַׁאֲנַנּֽוֹת׃Is 32:18
My people will live in a peaceful habitation,
in safe dwellings,
and in quiet resting places.
Is 32:18Is 32:18καὶ κατοικήσει ὁ λαὸς αὐτοῦ ἐν πόλει εἰρήνης καὶ ἐνοικήσει πεποιθώς καὶ ἀναπαύσονται μετὰ πλούτουIs 32:18
And his people shall inhabit a city of peace, and dwell in it in confidence, and they shall rest with wealth.
Is 32:18
My people will live in a peaceful habitation,
in safe dwellings,
and in quiet resting places.
19Is 32:1919וּבָרַ֖ד בְּרֶ֣דֶת הַיָּ֑עַר וּבַשִּׁפְלָ֖ה תִּשְׁפַּ֥ל הָעִֽיר׃Is 32:19
Though hail flattens the forest,
and the city is leveled completely.
Is 32:19Is 32:19ἡ δὲ χάλαζα ἐὰν καταβῇ οὐκ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς ἥξει καὶ ἔσονται οἱ ἐνοικοῦντες ἐν τοῖς δρυμοῖς πεποιθότες ὡς οἱ ἐν τῇ πεδινῇIs 32:19
And if the hail should come down, it shall not come upon you; and they that dwell in the forests shall be in confidence, as those in the plain country.
Is 32:19
Though hail flattens the forest,
and the city is leveled completely.
20Is 32:2020אַשְׁרֵיכֶ֕ם זֹרְעֵ֖י עַל־כָּל־מָ֑יִם מְשַׁלְּחֵ֥י רֶֽגֶל־הַשּׁ֖וֹר וְהַחֲמֽוֹר׃ ס Is 32:20
Blessed are you who sow beside all waters,
who send out the feet of the ox and the donkey.
Is 32:20Is 32:20μακάριοι οἱ σπείροντες ἐπὶ πᾶν ὕδωρ οὗ βοῦς καὶ ὄνος πατεῖIs 32:20
Blessed are they that sow by every water, where the ox and ass tread.
Is 32:20
Blessed are you who sow beside all waters,
who send out the feet of the ox and the donkey.
