¶The burden of Tyre. Howl, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. From the land of Kittim it is revealed to them.

THE WORD CONCERNING TYRE. Howl, ye ships of Carthage; for she has perished, and men no longer arrive from the land of the Citians: she is led captive.
Is 23:1¶The burden of Tyre. Howl, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. From the land of Kittim it is revealed to them. The vision of Tyre:
Howl oh ships of Carthage for she was destroyed and they no longer come from the land of Kitiean, it has been led captive.

Be still, you inhabitants of the coast, you whom the merchants of Sidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.

3Is 23:33וּבְמַ֤יִם רַבִּים֙ זֶ֣רַע שִׁחֹ֔ר קְצִ֥יר יְא֖וֹר תְּבֽוּאָתָ֑הּ וַתְּהִ֖י סְחַ֥ר גּוֹיִֽם׃Is 23:3
On great waters, the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue. She was the market of nations.

Be ashamed, Sidon; for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, “I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins.”
Is 23:4Is 23:4αἰσχύνθητι Σιδών εἶπεν ἡ θάλασσα ἡ δὲ ἰσχὺς τῆς θαλάσσης εἶπεν οὐκ ὤδινον οὐδὲ ἔτεκον οὐδὲ ἐξέθρεψα νεανίσκους οὐδὲ ὕψωσα παρθένουςIs 23:4
Be ashamed, O Sidon: the sea has said, yea, the strength of the sea has said, I have not travailed, nor brought forth, nor have I brought up young men, nor reared virgins.
Is 23:4Be ashamed, Sidon; for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, “I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins.”"Be ashamed Oh Sidon", said the sea and the strength of the sea said "I was not travailing neither did I give birth nor did I nurture young men nor raise up virgins"

5Is 23:55כַּֽאֲשֶׁר־שֵׁ֖מַע לְמִצְרָ֑יִם יָחִ֖ילוּ כְּשֵׁ֥מַע צֹֽר׃Is 23:5
When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report of Tyre.
Is 23:5Is 23:5ὅταν δὲ ἀκουστὸν γένηται Αἰγύπτῳ λήμψεται αὐτοὺς ὀδύνη περὶ ΤύρουIs 23:5
Moreover when it shall be heard in Egypt, sorrow shall seize them for Tyre.
Is 23:5When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report of Tyre.But when the sound reaches Egypt, they will receive pain of mind over Tyre.

Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honorable of the earth?
Is 23:8Is 23:8τίς ταῦτα ἐβούλευσεν ἐπὶ Τύρον μὴ ἥσσων ἐστὶν ἢ οὐκ ἰσχύει οἱ ἔμποροι αὐτῆς ἔνδοξοι ἄρχοντες τῆς γῆςIs 23:8
Who has devised this counsel against Tyre? Is she inferior? or has she no strength? her merchants were the glorious princes of the earth.
Is 23:8Who has planned this against Tyre,the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honorable of the earth? Who determined this upon Tyre? Is she weaker or does she not have strength? Her merchants are the glorious rulers of the land (earth).

The Lord of hosts has purposed to bring down all the pride of the glorious ones, and to disgrace every glorious thing on the earth.

Pass through your land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish. There is no restraint any more.

Till thy land; for ships no more come out of Carthage.

He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Yahweh has ordered the destruction of Canaan’s strongholds.
Is 23:11Is 23:11ἡ δὲ χείρ σου οὐκέτι ἰσχύει κατὰ θάλασσαν ἡ παροξύνουσα βασιλεῖς κύριος σαβαωθ ἐνετείλατο περὶ Χανααν ἀπολέσαι αὐτῆς τὴν ἰσχύνIs 23:11
And thy hand prevails no more by sea, which troubled kings: the Lord of hosts has given a command concerning Chanaan, to destroy the strength thereof.
Is 23:11He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Yahweh has ordered the destruction of Canaan’s strongholds.Yet your hand while provoking kings, no longer has strength for the sea. The Lord of Sabaoth commanded Canaan to destroy her strength

Is 23:12
He said, “You shall rejoice no more, you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim. Even there you will have no rest.”
Is 23:12Is 23:12καὶ ἐροῦσιν οὐκέτι μὴ προσθῆτε τοῦ ὑβρίζειν καὶ ἀδικεῖν τὴν θυγατέρα Σιδῶνος καὶ ἐὰν ἀπέλθῃς εἰς Κιτιεῖς οὐδὲ ἐκεῖ σοι ἀνάπαυσις ἔσταιIs 23:12
And men shall say, Ye shall no longer at all continue to insult and injure the daughter of Sidon: and if thou depart to the Citians, neither there shalt thou have rest.
Is 23:12He said, “You shall rejoice no more, you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim. Even there you will have no rest.”and they will say "you will no longer add insult and do harm to the daughter of Sidon and even if you depart into Kitieis, not even there will there be rest to you.

¶Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people was not. The Assyrians founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin.
Is 23:13Is 23:13καὶ εἰς γῆν Χαλδαίων καὶ αὕτη ἠρήμωται ἀπὸ τῶν Ἀσσυρίων οὐδὲ ἐκεῖ σοι ἀνάπαυσις ἔσται ὅτι ὁ τοῖχος αὐτῆς πέπτωκενIs 23:13
And if thou depart to the land of the Chaldeans, this also is laid waste by the Assyrians, for her wall is fallen.
Is 23:13¶Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people was not. The Assyrians founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin. and into the land of the Chaldeans by the Assyrians, it has been desolated, neither there will there be rest to you because her wall has fallen.

Take a harp, go about, O city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; play well on the harp, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.

It will happen after the end of seventy years that Yahweh will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her wages, and will play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world on the surface of the earth.
Is 23:17Is 23:17καὶ ἔσται μετὰ ἑβδομήκοντα ἔτη ἐπισκοπὴν ποιήσει ὁ θεὸς Τύρου καὶ πάλιν ἀποκατασταθήσεται εἰς τὸ ἀρχαῖον καὶ ἔσται ἐμπόριον πάσαις ταῖς βασιλείαις τῆς οἰκουμένηςIs 23:17
And it shall come to pass after the seventy years, that God will visit Tyre, and she shall be again restored to her primitive state, and she shall be a mart for all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth.
Is 23:17It will happen after the end of seventy years that Yahweh will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her wages, and will play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world on the surface of the earth.
and it will be after seventy years that God will make a visit upon Tyre and again she will be restored to antiquity and she will be a market to all the kingdoms of the inhabited world

Her merchandise and her wages will be holiness to Yahweh. It will not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise will be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
Is 23:18Is 23:18καὶ ἔσται αὐτῆς ἡ ἐμπορία καὶ ὁ μισθὸς ἅγιον τῷ κυρίῳ οὐκ αὐτοῖς συναχθήσεται ἀλλὰ τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν ἔναντι κυρίου πᾶσα ἡ ἐμπορία αὐτῆς φαγεῖν καὶ πιεῖν καὶ ἐμπλησθῆναι εἰς συμβολὴν μνημόσυνον ἔναντι κυρίουIs 23:18
And her trade and her gain shall be holiness to the Lord: it shall not be gathered for them, but for those that dwell before the Lord, even all her trade, to eat and drink and be filled, and for a covenant and a memorial before the Lord.
Is 23:18Her merchandise and her wages will be holiness to Yahweh. It will not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise will be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
And the merchandise* and reward of her will be holy to the Lord, not by them will it be gathered** but by those residing before the Lord, all her merchandise will be to eat and to drink and be satisfied into the record assemebled before the Lord.
