1Mk 5:1¶They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.Mt 8:28¶When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way.Lk 8:26They arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.

He wore no clothes, and didn’t live in a house, but in among the tombs.

He was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bands apart, he was driven by the demon into the desert.

¶They came out, and went into the herd of pigs: and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water.
Lk 8:33The demons came out from the man, and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned.




Begging Him to Leave

b The woman would have been a social outcast, for her bleeding meant anyone who touched either her or anything on which she sat was made unclean. Leviticus 15:25-27: If a woman has a discharge of blood [LXX: ἐὰν ῥέῃ ῥύσει αἵματος] for many days, not at the time of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond the time of her impurity, all the days of the discharge she shall continue in uncleanness.
