Purpose of the Parables (Seeing They Do Not See, Hearing They Do Not Hear)

Explanation of the Parable of the Sower
13Mk 4:13Καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, Οὐκ οἴδατε τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην; Καὶ πῶς πάσας τὰς παραβολὰς γνώσεσθε;(Mt)(Lk)13Mk 4:13¶He said to them, Don’t you understand Is this parable not obvious[a] to you? How will you understand all of the parables?

a Gr. οἶδα, which like γινώσκω in the next sentence means to know, often connotates previous awareness of or familiarity with, but here that meaning doesn't fit because it doesn't follow that lack of prior knowledge should bear on one's ability to understand other parables.
