Heb 11:4
By faith, Abel[a] offered to God a more (excellent) sacrifice than Cain, through which he had testimony given to him that he was was attested to be righteous, God testifying with respect to upon his gifts;[b] and through it he, being dead, he still speaks.[c]
———
a Gn. 4:3-8: 4:3 At the designated time Cain brought some of the fruit of the ground for an offering to the Lord. 4:4 But Abel brought some of the firstborn of his flock – even the fattest of them. And the Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering, 4:5 but with Cain and his offering he was not pleased.... 4:8 Cain said to his brother Abel, Let’s go out to the field. While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him (NET). **LXX**4:7 If you offer correctly but do not divide correctly, have you not sinned? Be still, the turning around of it is towards you and you will rule over it. the LXX uniquely reveals that Kain's sin was of not properly dividing the sacrifice.
b Gn. 4:4b LXX: καὶ ἐπεῖδεν ὁ θεὸς ἐπὶ Αβελ καὶ ἐπὶ τοῖς δώροις αὐτοῦ, and God looked upon Abel and upon his gifts [And the Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering (NET)].
c Gn. 4:10-11: And the Lord said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground. 11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand (ESV). See also Heb. 12:24. (Is the more excellent sacrifice himself, being murdered? )

He walked with God. 6:10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 6:11 The earth was ruined in the sight of God; the earth was filled with violence. 6:12 God saw the earth, and indeed it was ruined, for all living creatures on the earth were sinful. 6:13 So God said to Noah, “I have decided that all living creatures must die, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Now I am about to destroy them and the earth. 6:14 Make for yourself an ark of cypress wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it with pitch inside and out (NET).

b See Gn. 12:8; 13:3, 5, 12, 18; 18:1-10.
c Gn. 26:2-5: 26:2 The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, Do not go down to Egypt; settle down in the land that I will point out to you. 26:3 Stay in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will fulfill the solemn promise I made to your father Abraham. 26:4 I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants. 26:5 All this will come to pass because Abraham obeyed me and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws (NET).
d Gn. 28:10-15: 28:10 Meanwhile Jacob left Beer Sheba and set out for Haran. 28:11 He reached a certain place where he decided to camp because the sun had gone down. He took one of the stones and placed it near his head. Then he fell asleep in that place 28:12 and had a dream. He saw a stairway erected on the earth with its top reaching to the heavens. The angels of God were going up and coming down it 28:13 and the Lord stood at its top. He said, I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the ground you are lying on. 28:14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. All the families of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using your name and that of your descendants. 28:15 I am with you! I will protect you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you! (NET).

[a]By faith,[b] even and Sarah herself[c] (being) barren—(he) received power to conceive impregnate, and (she) bore a child when she was past age,[d] since she (he) counted him faithful who had promised.[e]
———
a Alterative translation: By [his? her?] faith, even Sarah herself received power to conceive, and she bore a child when she was past age, since she [or he?] counted him faithful who had promised.
b Abraham's faith or Sarah's? Gn. 15:1-6: 15:1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision.... 15:5 The Lord took him outside and said, Gaze into the sky and count the stars – if you are able to count them! Then he said to him, So will your descendants be. 15:6 Abram believed the Lord [LXX: ἐπίστευσεν Αβραμ τῷ θεῷ], and the Lord considered his response of faith as proof of genuine loyalty [LXX: ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην] (NET).
c Gn. 18:10-12: 18:10 One of them said, I will surely return to you when the season comes round again, and your wife Sarah will have a son! (Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, not far behind him. 18:11 Abraham and Sarah were old and advancing in years; Sarah had long since passed menopause.) 18:12 So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, After I am worn out will I have pleasure, especially when my husband is old too? (NET).
d Gn. 21:1-2: 21:1 The Lord visited Sarah just as he had said he would and did for Sarah what he had promised. 21:2 So Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the appointed time that God had told him (NET).
e Gk. πιστὸν ἡγήσατο τὸν ἐπαγγειλάμενον. Gn. 21:6-7: 21:6 Sarah said, God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears about this will laugh with me. 21:7 She went on to say, Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have given birth to a son for him in his old age! (NET).

a Of possession of the land and innumerable descendents. Gn. 15:7-18: 15:7 The Lord said to him, I am the Lord who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess. 15:8 But Abram said, O sovereign Lord, by what can I know that I am to possess it?...15:18 That day the Lord made a covenant with Abram: To your descendants I give this land... (NET). Gn. 15:16: In the fourth generation your descendants will return here... (NET). See also Acts 7:5.
b Gk. ξένοι καὶ παρεπίδημοί. Gn. 23:3: Then Abraham got up from mourning his dead wife and said to the sons of Heth, 23:4 I am a temporary settler [LXX: πάροικος καὶ παρεπίδημος] among you. Grant me ownership of a burial site among you so that I may bury my dead (NET). Gn. 15:13: Then the Lord said to Abram, Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers [LXX: πάροικον] in a foreign country [LXX: γῇ οὐκ ἰδίᾳ, a land not their own]. They will be enslaved and oppressed for four hundred years (NET). Gn. 28:4 (note Heb. 11:20a): ...the land where you have been living as a temporary resident... (NET).
c Gk. γῆ, land or earth. This is being assumed here to refer back to γῆ in 11:9. Most translations, though, read on the earth.

Gn. 48:3-5: 48:3 Jacob said to Joseph, The sovereign God appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me. 48:4 He said to me, I am going to make you fruitful and will multiply you. I will make you into a group of nations, and I will give this land to your descendants as an everlasting possession. 48:5 Now, as for your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, they will be mine. Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine just as Reuben and Simeon are (NET).
b Gn. 47:30-31 LXX: 47:30 But I will sleep with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me up out of Egypt, and bury me in their sepulchre. And he said, I will do according to thy word. 47:31 And he said, Swear to me; and he swore to him. And Israel did reverence, leaning on the top of his staff (Brenton).
