———
a the action is a wiping off via an unguent acting as a loosing agent, i.e. Christ himself.,
b literally, a recurring action that provides a renewing soul (or cooling wind). This refers to the refreshment of mind we get when we receive more of Christ by believing more of Him -- line upon line, grace upon grace, from glory to glory. An acquisition of new life (Christ changing water to wine, λογος εις πνευμα through His faith).
c His face (or presence) is the open book of the Bible, from which we acquire grace when we believe. Kiss the Son! προσκυνει αυτον.
d Μετανοια is making a change in the νους -- the logical mind -- as opposed to η φρην -- the reins of the emotions. Repent is a good translation, but it overlooks the mechanical actions inherent in the word.
