Ps 71:1
By David, a Psalm sung by the sons of Jonadab, and the first that were taken captive. O Lord, I have hoped in thee: let me never be put to shame.

In you, Yahweh, I take refuge.
Never let me be disappointed.

2Ps 71:22ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου ῥῦσαί με καὶ ἐξελοῦ με κλῖνον πρός με τὸ οὖς σου καὶ σῶσόν μεPs 71:2
In thy righteousness deliver me and rescue me: incline thine ear to me, and save me.

Deliver me in your righteousness, and rescue me.
Turn your ear to me, and save me.
3Ps 71:33γενοῦ μοι εἰς θεὸν ὑπερασπιστὴν καὶ εἰς τόπον ὀχυρὸν τοῦ σῶσαί με ὅτι στερέωμά μου καὶ καταφυγή μου εἶ σύPs 71:3
Be to me a protecting God, and a strong hold to save me: for thou art my fortress and my refuge.

Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go.
Give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.

Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go.
Give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.
4Ps 71:44ὁ θεός μου ῥῦσαί με ἐκ χειρὸς ἁμαρτωλοῦ ἐκ χειρὸς παρανομοῦντος καὶ ἀδικοῦντοςPs 71:4
Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the sinner, from the hand of the transgressor and unjust man.

Rescue me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

Rescue me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5Ps 71:55ὅτι σὺ εἶ ἡ ὑπομονή μου κύριε κύριος ἡ ἐλπίς μου ἐκ νεότητός μουPs 71:5
For thou art my support, O Lord; O Lord, thou art my hope from my youth.

For you are my hope, Lord Yahweh;
my confidence from my youth.

For you are my hope, Lord Yahweh;
my confidence from my youth.
6Ps 71:66ἐπὶ σὲ ἐπεστηρίχθην ἀπὸ γαστρός ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου σύ μου εἶ σκεπαστής ἐν σοὶ ἡ ὕμνησίς μου διὰ παντόςPs 71:6
On thee have I been stayed from the womb: from the belly of my mother thou art my protector: of thee is my praise continually.
Ps 71:6
I have relied on you from the womb.
You are he who took me my protector out of from (the time I was in) my mother’s womb.[a]
I will always In you (is) my praise you always.

I have relied on you from the womb.
You are he who took me out of my mother’s womb.
I will always praise you.
7Ps 71:77ὡσεὶ τέρας ἐγενήθην τοῖς πολλοῖς καὶ σὺ βοηθὸς κραταιόςPs 71:7
I am become as it were a wonder to many: but thou art my strong helper.

I am a marvel to many,
but you are my strong refuge.

8Ps 71:88πληρωθήτω τὸ στόμα μου αἰνέσεως ὅπως ὑμνήσω τὴν δόξαν σου ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν τὴν μεγαλοπρέπειάν σουPs 71:8
Let my mouth be filled with praise, that I may hymn thy glory, and thy majesty all the day.
Ps 71:8
My mouth shall be filled with your praise,

My mouth shall be filled with your praise,

Cast me not off at the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength fails.

For mine enemies have spoken against me; and they that lay wait for my soul have taken counsel together,

For my enemies talk about me.

For my enemies talk about me.
Those who watch for my soul conspire together,
11Ps 71:1111λέγοντες ὁ θεὸς ἐγκατέλιπεν αὐτόν καταδιώξατε καὶ καταλάβετε αὐτόν ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ῥυόμενοςPs 71:11
saying, God has forsaken him: persecute ye and take him; for there is none to deliver him.

saying, “God has forsaken him.
Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him.”
Ps 71:11Ps 71:11לֵ֭אמֹר אֱלֹהִ֣ים עֲזָב֑וֹ רִֽדְפ֥וּ וְ֝תִפְשׂ֗וּהוּ כִּי־אֵ֥ין מַצִּֽיל׃Ps 71:11
saying, “God has forsaken him.
Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him.”
12Ps 71:1212ὁ θεός μὴ μακρύνῃς ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ ὁ θεός μου εἰς τὴν βοήθειάν μου πρόσχεςPs 71:12
O God, go not far from me, O my God, draw nigh to my help.
Ps 71:12
God, don’t be far from me.
My God, hurry to help me.

Ps 71:12
God, don’t be far from me.
My God, hurry to help me.
13Ps 71:1313αἰσχυνθήτωσαν καὶ ἐκλιπέτωσαν οἱ ἐνδιαβάλλοντες τὴν ψυχήν μου περιβαλέσθωσαν αἰσχύνην καὶ ἐντροπὴν οἱ ζητοῦντες τὰ κακά μοιPs 71:13
Let those that plot against my soul be ashamed and utterly fail: let those that seek my hurt be clothed with shame and dishonour.
Ps 71:13
Let my accusers be disappointed and consumed.
Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me.
Ps 71:13Ps 71:13יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ יִכְלוּ֮ שֹׂטְנֵ֪י נַ֫פְשִׁ֥י יַֽעֲט֣וּ חֶ֭רְפָּה וּכְלִמָּ֑ה מְ֝בַקְשֵׁ֗י רָעָתִֽי׃Ps 71:13
Let my accusers be disappointed and consumed.
Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me.
14Ps 71:1414ἐγὼ δὲ διὰ παντὸς ἐλπιῶ καὶ προσθήσω ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν αἴνεσίν σουPs 71:14
But I will hope continually, and will praise thee more and more.

But I will always hope,
and will add to all of your praise.
Ps 71:14Ps 71:14וַ֭אֲנִי תָּמִ֣יד אֲיַחֵ֑ל וְ֝הוֹסַפְתִּ֗י עַל־כָּל־תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃Ps 71:14
But I will always hope,
and will add to all of your praise.
15Ps 71:1515τὸ στόμα μου ἐξαγγελεῖ τὴν δικαιοσύνην σου ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν τὴν σωτηρίαν σου ὅτι οὐκ ἔγνων γραμματείαςPs 71:15
My mouth shall declare thy righteousness openly, and thy salvation all the day; for I am not acquainted with the affairs of men.

My mouth will tell about your righteousness,
and of your salvation all day,
though I don’t know its full measure.
Ps 71:15Ps 71:15פִּ֤י ׀ יְסַפֵּ֬ר צִדְקָתֶ֗ךָ כָּל־הַיּ֥וֹם תְּשׁוּעָתֶ֑ךָ כִּ֤י לֹ֖א יָדַ֣עְתִּי סְפֹרֽוֹת׃Ps 71:15
My mouth will tell about your righteousness,
and of your salvation all day,
though I don’t know its full measure.
16Ps 71:1616εἰσελεύσομαι ἐν δυναστείᾳ κυρίου κύριε μνησθήσομαι τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου μόνουPs 71:16
I will go on in the might of the Lord: O Lord, I will make mention of thy righteousness only.
Ps 71:16
I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Yahweh.
I will make mention of your righteousness, even of yours alone.
Ps 71:16Ps 71:16אָב֗וֹא בִּ֭גְבֻרוֹת אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה אַזְכִּ֖יר צִדְקָתְךָ֣ לְבַדֶּֽךָ׃Ps 71:16
I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Yahweh.
I will make mention of your righteousness, even of yours alone.
17Ps 71:1717ἐδίδαξάς με ὁ θεός ἐκ νεότητός μου καὶ μέχρι νῦν ἀπαγγελῶ τὰ θαυμάσιά σουPs 71:17
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth, and until now will I declare thy wonders;
Ps 71:17
God, you have taught me from my youth.
Until now, I have declared your wondrous works.
Ps 71:17Ps 71:17אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים לִמַּדְתַּ֥נִי מִנְּעוּרָ֑י וְעַד־הֵ֝֗נָּה אַגִּ֥יד נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃Ps 71:17
God, you have taught me from my youth.
Until now, I have declared your wondrous works.
18Ps 71:1818καὶ ἕως γήρους καὶ πρεσβείου ὁ θεός μὴ ἐγκαταλίπῃς με ἕως ἂν ἀπαγγείλω τὸν βραχίονά σου πάσῃ τῇ γενεᾷ τῇ ἐρχομένῃ τὴν δυναστείαν σου καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην σουPs 71:18
even until I am old and advanced in years. O God, forsake me not; until I shall have declared thine arm to all the generation that is to come:
Ps 71:18
Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me,
until I have declared your strength to the next generation,
your might to everyone who is to come.

Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me,
until I have declared your strength to the next generation,
your might to everyone who is to come.
19Ps 71:1919ὁ θεός ἕως ὑψίστων ἃ ἐποίησας μεγαλεῖα ὁ θεός τίς ὅμοιός σοιPs 71:19
even thy power and thy righteousness, O God, up to the highest heavens, even the mighty works which thou has done: O God, who is like to thee?
Ps 71:19
Your righteousness also, God, reaches to the heavens;
you have done great things.

Ps 71:19Ps 71:19וְצִדְקָתְךָ֥ אֱלֹהִ֗ים עַד־מָ֫ר֥וֹם אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֥יתָ גְדֹל֑וֹת אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים מִ֣י כָמֽוֹךָ׃Ps 71:19
Your righteousness also, God, reaches to the heavens;
you have done great things.

20Ps 71:2020ὅσας ἔδειξάς μοι θλίψεις πολλὰς καὶ κακάς καὶ ἐπιστρέψας ἐζωοποίησάς με καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἀβύσσων τῆς γῆς πάλιν ἀνήγαγές μεPs 71:20
What afflictions many and sore hast thou shewed me! yet thou didst turn and quicken me, and broughtest me again from the depths of the earth.

You, who have shown us many and bitter troubles,
you will let me live.
You will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

you will let me live.

21Ps 71:2121ἐπλεόνασας τὴν μεγαλοσύνην σου καὶ ἐπιστρέψας παρεκάλεσάς με καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἀβύσσων τῆς γῆς πάλιν ἀνήγαγές μεPs 71:21
Thou didst multiply thy righteousness, and didst turn and comfort me, and broughtest me again out of the depths of the earth.

Increase my honor,
and comfort me again.

I will also therefore give thanks to thee, O God, because of thy truth, on an instrument of psalmody: I will sing psalms to thee on the harp, O Holy One of Israel.
Ps 71:22
I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God.
I sing praises to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.

I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God.
I sing praises to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
23Ps 71:2323ἀγαλλιάσονται τὰ χείλη μου ὅταν ψάλω σοι καὶ ἡ ψυχή μου ἣν ἐλυτρώσωPs 71:23
My lips shall rejoice when I sing to thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
Ps 71:23
My lips shall shout for joy!
My soul, which you have redeemed, sings praises to you!
Ps 71:23Ps 71:23תְּרַנֵּ֣נָּ֣ה שְׂ֭פָתַי כִּ֣י אֲזַמְּרָה־לָּ֑ךְ וְ֝נַפְשִׁ֗י אֲשֶׁ֣ר פָּדִֽיתָ׃Ps 71:23
My lips shall shout for joy!
My soul, which you have redeemed, sings praises to you!
24Ps 71:2424ἔτι δὲ καὶ ἡ γλῶσσά μου ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν μελετήσει τὴν δικαιοσύνην σου ὅταν αἰσχυνθῶσιν καὶ ἐντραπῶσιν οἱ ζητοῦντες τὰ κακά μοιPs 71:24
Moreover also my tongue shall dwell all the day upon thy righteousness; when they shall be ashamed and confounded that seek my hurt.
Ps 71:24
My tongue will also talk about your righteousness all day long,
for they are disappointed, and they are confounded,
who want to harm me.

My tongue will also talk about your righteousness all day long,
for they are disappointed, and they are confounded,
who want to harm me.
