Ps 45:1
For the end, for alternate strains by the sons of Core; for instruction, a Song concerning the beloved. My heart has uttered a good matter: I declare my works to the king: my tongue is the pen of a quick writer.

2Ps 45:12ἐξηρεύξατο ἡ καρδία μου λόγον ἀγαθόν λέγω ἐγὼ τὰ ἔργα μου τῷ βασιλεῖ ἡ γλῶσσά μου κάλαμος γραμματέως ὀξυγράφου2
Ps 45:1
My heart overflows with a noble theme.
I recite my verses for the king.
My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.My heart pours outª a good word,
I tell my works to the king,
My tongue is the pen of a fast-writing scribe.

Ps 45:2Ps 45:2רָ֘חַ֤שׁ לִבִּ֨י ׀ דָּ֘בָ֤ר ט֗וֹב אֹמֵ֣ר אָ֭נִי מַעֲשַׂ֣י לְמֶ֑לֶךְ לְ֝שׁוֹנִ֗י עֵ֤ט ׀ סוֹפֵ֬ר מָהִֽיר׃Ps 45:1
My heart overflows with a noble theme.

3Ps 45:23ὡραῖος κάλλει παρὰ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐξεχύθη χάρις ἐν χείλεσίν σου διὰ τοῦτο εὐλόγησέν σε ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὸν αἰῶναPs 45:2
Thou art more beautiful than the sons of men: grace has been shed forth on thy lips: therefore God has blessed thee for ever.
Ps 45:2
You are the most excellent of the sons of men.
Grace has anointed your lips,
therefore God has blessed you forever.
Ps 45:3Ps 45:3יָפְיָפִ֡יתָ מִבְּנֵ֬י אָדָ֗ם ה֣וּצַק חֵ֭ן בְּשְׂפְתוֹתֶ֑יךָ עַל־כֵּ֤ן בֵּֽרַכְךָ֖ אֱלֹהִ֣ים לְעוֹלָֽם׃Ps 45:2
You are the most excellent of the sons of men.
Grace has anointed your lips,
therefore God has blessed you forever.
4Ps 45:34περίζωσαι τὴν ῥομφαίαν σου ἐπὶ τὸν μηρόν σου δυνατέ τῇ ὡραιότητί σου καὶ τῷ κάλλει σουPs 45:3
Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O Mighty One, in thy comeliness, and in thy beauty;
Ps 45:3
Strap your sword on your thigh, mighty one:
your splendor and your majesty.
Ps 45:4Ps 45:4חֲגֽוֹר־חַרְבְּךָ֣ עַל־יָרֵ֣ךְ גִּבּ֑וֹר ה֝וֹדְךָ֗ וַהֲדָרֶֽךָ׃Ps 45:3
Strap your sword on your thigh, mighty one:
your splendor and your majesty.
5Ps 45:45καὶ ἔντεινον καὶ κατευοδοῦ καὶ βασίλευε ἕνεκεν ἀληθείας καὶ πραΰτητος καὶ δικαιοσύνης καὶ ὁδηγήσει σε θαυμαστῶς ἡ δεξιά σουPs 45:4
and bend thy bow, and prosper, and reign, because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall guide thee wonderfully.
Ps 45:4
In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness.
Let your right hand display awesome deeds.
Ps 45:5Ps 45:5וַהֲדָ֬רְךָ֨ ׀ צְלַ֬ח רְכַ֗ב עַֽל־דְּבַר־אֱ֭מֶת וְעַנְוָה־צֶ֑דֶק וְתוֹרְךָ֖ נוֹרָא֣וֹת יְמִינֶֽךָ׃Ps 45:4
In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness.
Let your right hand display awesome deeds.
6Ps 45:56τὰ βέλη σου ἠκονημένα δυνατέ λαοὶ ὑποκάτω σου πεσοῦνται ἐν καρδίᾳ τῶν ἐχθρῶν τοῦ βασιλέωςPs 45:5
Thy weapons are sharpened, Mighty One, (the nations shall fall under thee) they are in the heart of the king's enemies.
Ps 45:5
Your arrows are sharp.
The nations fall under you, with arrows in the heart of the king’s enemies.
Ps 45:6Ps 45:6חִצֶּ֗יךָ שְׁנ֫וּנִ֥ים עַ֭מִּים תַּחְתֶּ֣יךָ יִפְּל֑וּ בְּ֝לֵ֗ב אוֹיְבֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃Ps 45:5
Your arrows are sharp.
The nations fall under you, with arrows in the heart of the king’s enemies.
7Ps 45:67ὁ θρόνος σου ὁ θεός εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος ῥάβδος εὐθύτητος ἡ ῥάβδος τῆς βασιλείας σουPs 45:6
Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of righteousness.
Ps 45:6
Your throne, God, is forever and ever.
A scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom.
Ps 45:7Ps 45:7כִּסְאֲךָ֣ אֱ֭לֹהִים עוֹלָ֣ם וָעֶ֑ד שֵׁ֥בֶט מִ֝ישֹׁ֗ר שֵׁ֣בֶט מַלְכוּתֶֽךָ׃Ps 45:6
Your throne, God, is forever and ever.

8Ps 45:78ἠγάπησας δικαιοσύνην καὶ ἐμίσησας ἀνομίαν διὰ τοῦτο ἔχρισέν σε ὁ θεὸς ὁ θεός σου ἔλαιον ἀγαλλιάσεως παρὰ τοὺς μετόχους σουPs 45:7
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness beyond thy fellows.
Ps 45:7
You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
Ps 45:8Ps 45:8אָהַ֣בְתָּ צֶּדֶק֮ וַתִּשְׂנָ֫א רֶ֥שַׁע עַל־כֵּ֤ן ׀ מְשָׁחֲךָ֡ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֱ֭לֹהֶיךָ שֶׁ֥מֶן שָׂשׂ֗וֹן מֵֽחֲבֵרֶֽיךָ׃Ps 45:7
You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
9Ps 45:89σμύρνα καὶ στακτὴ καὶ κασία ἀπὸ τῶν ἱματίων σου ἀπὸ βάρεων ἐλεφαντίνων ἐξ ὧν ηὔφρανάν σεPs 45:8
Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia are exhaled from thy garments, and out of the ivory palaces,
Ps 45:8
All your garments smell like myrrh, aloes, and cassia.
Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.
Ps 45:9Ps 45:9מֹר־וַאֲהָל֣וֹת קְ֭צִיעוֹת כָּל־בִּגְדֹתֶ֑יךָ מִֽן־הֵ֥יכְלֵי שֵׁ֝֗ן מִנִּ֥י שִׂמְּחֽוּךָ׃Ps 45:8
All your garments smell like myrrh, aloes, and cassia.
Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.
10Ps 45:910θυγατέρες βασιλέων ἐν τῇ τιμῇ σου παρέστη ἡ βασίλισσα ἐκ δεξιῶν σου ἐν ἱματισμῷ διαχρύσῳ περιβεβλημένη πεποικιλμένηPs 45:9
with which kings' daughters have gladdened thee for thine honour: the queen stood by on thy right hand, clothed in vesture wrought with gold, and arrayed in divers colours.
Ps 45:9
Kings’ daughters are among your honorable women.
At your right hand the queen stands in gold of Ophir.
Ps 45:10Ps 45:10בְּנ֣וֹת מְ֭לָכִים בְּיִקְּרוֹתֶ֑יךָ נִצְּבָ֥ה שֵׁגַ֥ל לִֽ֝ימִינְךָ֗ בְּכֶ֣תֶם אוֹפִֽיר׃Ps 45:9
Kings’ daughters are among your honorable women.
At your right hand the queen stands in gold of Ophir.
11Ps 45:1011ἄκουσον θύγατερ καὶ ἰδὲ καὶ κλῖνον τὸ οὖς σου καὶ ἐπιλάθου τοῦ λαοῦ σου καὶ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός σουPs 45:10
Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear; forget also thy people, and thy father's house.
Ps 45:10
Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear.
Forget your own people, and also your father’s house.
Ps 45:11Ps 45:11שִׁמְעִי־בַ֣ת וּ֭רְאִי וְהַטִּ֣י אָזְנֵ֑ךְ וְשִׁכְחִ֥י עַ֝מֵּ֗ךְ וּבֵ֥ית אָבִֽיךְ׃Ps 45:10
Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear.
Forget your own people, and also your father’s house.
12Ps 45:1112ὅτι ἐπεθύμησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ κάλλους σου ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ κύριός σουPs 45:11
Because the king has desired thy beauty; for he is thy Lord.
Ps 45:11
So the king will desire your beauty,
honor him, for he is your lord.
Ps 45:12Ps 45:12וְיִתְאָ֣ו הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ יָפְיֵ֑ךְ כִּי־ה֥וּא אֲ֝דֹנַ֗יִךְ וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִי־לֽוֹ׃Ps 45:11
So the king will desire your beauty,
honor him, for he is your lord.
13Ps 45:1213καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν αὐτῷ θυγατέρες Τύρου ἐν δώροις τὸ πρόσωπόν σου λιτανεύσουσιν οἱ πλούσιοι τοῦ λαοῦPs 45:12
And the daughter of Tyre shall adore him with gifts; the rich of the people of the land shall supplicate thy favour.
Ps 45:12
The daughter of Tyre comes with a gift.
The rich among the people entreat your favor.
Ps 45:13Ps 45:13וּבַֽת־צֹ֨ר ׀ בְּ֭מִנְחָה פָּנַ֥יִךְ יְחַלּ֗וּ עֲשִׁ֣ירֵי עָֽם׃Ps 45:12
The daughter of Tyre comes with a gift.
The rich among the people entreat your favor.
14Ps 45:1314πᾶσα ἡ δόξα αὐτῆς θυγατρὸς βασιλέως ἔσωθεν ἐν κροσσωτοῖς χρυσοῖς περιβεβλημένη πεποικιλμένηPs 45:13
All her glory is that of the daughter of the king of Esebon, robed as she is in golden fringed garments,
Ps 45:13
The princess inside is all glorious.
Her clothing is interwoven with gold.
Ps 45:14Ps 45:14כָּל־כְּבוּדָּ֣ה בַת־מֶ֣לֶךְ פְּנִ֑ימָה מִֽמִּשְׁבְּצ֖וֹת זָהָ֣ב לְבוּשָֽׁהּ׃Ps 45:13
The princess inside is all glorious.
Her clothing is interwoven with gold.
15Ps 45:1415ἀπενεχθήσονται τῷ βασιλεῖ παρθένοι ὀπίσω αὐτῆς αἱ πλησίον αὐτῆς ἀπενεχθήσονταί σοιPs 45:14
in embroidered clothing: virgins shall be brought to the king after her: her fellows shall be brought to thee.
Ps 45:14
She shall be led to the king in embroidered work.
The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to you.
Ps 45:15Ps 45:15לִרְקָמוֹת֮ תּוּבַ֪ל לַ֫מֶּ֥לֶךְ בְּתוּל֣וֹת אַ֭חֲרֶיהָ רֵעוֹתֶ֑יהָ מ֖וּבָא֣וֹת לָֽךְ׃Ps 45:14
She shall be led to the king in embroidered work.
The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to you.
16Ps 45:1516ἀπενεχθήσονται ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ καὶ ἀγαλλιάσει ἀχθήσονται εἰς ναὸν βασιλέωςPs 45:15
They shall be brought with gladness and exultation: they shall be led into the king's temple.
Ps 45:15
With gladness and rejoicing they shall be led.
They shall enter into the king’s palace.
Ps 45:16Ps 45:16תּ֭וּבַלְנָה בִּשְׂמָחֹ֣ת וָגִ֑יל תְּ֝בֹאֶ֗ינָה בְּהֵ֣יכַל מֶֽלֶךְ׃Ps 45:15
With gladness and rejoicing they shall be led.
They shall enter into the king’s palace.
17Ps 45:1617ἀντὶ τῶν πατέρων σου ἐγενήθησάν σοι υἱοί καταστήσεις αὐτοὺς ἄρχοντας ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆνPs 45:16
Instead of thy fathers children are born to thee: thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.
Ps 45:16
Your sons will take the place of your fathers.
You shall make them princes in all the earth.
Ps 45:17Ps 45:17תַּ֣חַת אֲ֭בֹתֶיךָ יִהְי֣וּ בָנֶ֑יךָ תְּשִׁיתֵ֥מוֹ לְ֝שָׂרִ֗ים בְּכָל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃Ps 45:16
Your sons will take the place of your fathers.
You shall make them princes in all the earth.
18Ps 45:1718μνησθήσονται τοῦ ὀνόματός σου ἐν πάσῃ γενεᾷ καὶ γενεᾷ διὰ τοῦτο λαοὶ ἐξομολογήσονταί σοι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνοςPs 45:17
They shall make mention of thy name from generation to generation: therefore shall the nations give thanks to thee for ever, even for ever and ever.
Ps 45:17
I will make your name to be remembered in all generations.
Therefore the peoples shall give you thanks forever and ever.
Ps 45:18Ps 45:18אַזְכִּ֣ירָה שִׁ֭מְךָ בְּכָל־דֹּ֣ר וָדֹ֑ר עַל־כֵּ֥ן עַמִּ֥ים יְ֝הוֹדֻ֗ךָ לְעֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃Ps 45:17
I will make your name to be remembered in all generations.
Therefore the peoples shall give you thanks forever and ever.
