τῷ Δαυιδ ἐπὶ τῶν ποταμῶν Βαβυλῶνος ἐκεῖ ἐκαθίσαμεν καὶ ἐκλαύσαμεν ἐν τῷ μνησθῆναι ἡμᾶς τῆς Σιων
Ps 137:1
For David, a Psalm of Jeremias. By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat; and wept when we remembered Sion.

Yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down.
Yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
2Ps 137:22ἐπὶ ταῖς ἰτέαις ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ἐκρεμάσαμεν τὰ ὄργανα ἡμῶνPs 137:2
We hung our harps on the willows in the midst of it.

For there they that had taken us captive asked of us the words of a song; and they that had carried us away asked a hymn, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Sion.

For there, those who led us captive asked us for songs.
Those who tormented us demanded songs of joy:
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill.

6Ps 137:66κολληθείη ἡ γλῶσσά μου τῷ λάρυγγί μου ἐὰν μή σου μνησθῶ ἐὰν μὴ προανατάξωμαι τὴν Ιερουσαλημ ἐν ἀρχῇ τῆς εὐφροσύνης μουPs 137:6
May my tongue cleave to my throat, if I do not remember thee; if I do not prefer Jerusalem as the chief of my joy.

Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don’t remember you;
if I don’t prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy.

Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to its foundations.

the day of Jerusalem;
who said, “Raze it!
Raze it even to its foundation!”
Ps 137:7Ps 137:7זְכֹ֤ר יְהוָ֨ה ׀ לִבְנֵ֬י אֱד֗וֹם אֵת֮ י֤וֹם יְֽרוּשָׁ֫לִָ֥ם הָ֭אֹ֣מְרִים עָ֤רוּ ׀ עָ֑רוּ עַ֝֗ד הַיְס֥וֹד בָּֽהּ׃Ps 137:7
Remember, Yahweh, against the children of Edom,
the day of Jerusalem;

8Ps 137:88θυγάτηρ Βαβυλῶνος ἡ ταλαίπωρος μακάριος ὃς ἀνταποδώσει σοι τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου ὃ ἀνταπέδωκας ἡμῖνPs 137:8
Wretched daughter of Babylon! blessed shall he be who shall reward thee as thou hast rewarded us.
Ps 137:8
Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
he will be happy who rewards you,
as you have served us.

Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,

Blessed shall he be who shall seize and dash thine infants against the rock.

who takes and dashes your little ones against the rock.
