“Yes, at this my heart trembles,
and is moved out of its place.
Jb 37:1Jb 37:1καὶ ταύτης ἐταράχθη ἡ καρδία μου καὶ ἀπερρύη ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῆςJb 37:1
At this also my heart is troubled, and moved out of its place.

“Yes, at this my heart trembles,
and is moved out of its place.
2Jb 37:22שִׁמְע֤וּ שָׁמ֣וֹעַ בְּרֹ֣גֶז קֹל֑וֹ וְ֝הֶ֗גֶה מִפִּ֥יו יֵצֵֽא׃Jb 37:2
Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice,
the sound that goes out of his mouth.
Jb 37:2Jb 37:2ἄκουε ἀκοὴν ἐν ὀργῇ θυμοῦ κυρίου καὶ μελέτη ἐκ στόματος αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσεταιJb 37:2
Hear thou a report by the anger of the Lord's wrath, and a discourse shall come out of his mouth.
Jb 37:2
Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice,
the sound that goes out of his mouth.
3Jb 37:33תַּֽחַת־כָּל־הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם יִשְׁרֵ֑הוּ וְ֝אוֹר֗וֹ עַל־כַּנְפ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃Jb 37:3
He sends it forth under the whole sky,
and his lightning to the ends of the earth.
Jb 37:3Jb 37:3ὑποκάτω παντὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἀρχὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸ φῶς αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πτερύγων τῆς γῆςJb 37:3
His dominion is under the whole heaven, and his light is at the extremities of the earth.

He sends it forth under the whole sky,
and his lightning to the ends of the earth.
4Jb 37:44אַחֲרָ֤יו ׀ יִשְׁאַג־ק֗וֹל יַ֭רְעֵם בְּק֣וֹל גְּאוֹנ֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א יְ֝עַקְּבֵ֗ם כִּֽי־יִשָּׁמַ֥ע קוֹלֽוֹ׃Jb 37:4
After it a voice roars.
He thunders with the voice of his majesty.
He doesn’t hold back anything when his voice is heard.
Jb 37:4Jb 37:4ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ βοήσεται φωνή βροντήσει ἐν φωνῇ ὕβρεως αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἀνταλλάξει αὐτούς ὅτι ἀκούσει φωνὴν αὐτοῦJb 37:4
After him shall be a cry with a loud voice; he shall thunder with the voice of his excellency, yet he shall not cause men to pass away, for one shall hear his voice.

After it a voice roars.
He thunders with the voice of his majesty.

5Jb 37:55יַרְעֵ֤ם אֵ֣ל בְּ֭קוֹלוֹ נִפְלָא֑וֹת עֹשֶׂ֥ה גְ֝דֹל֗וֹת וְלֹ֣א נֵדָֽע׃Jb 37:5
God thunders marvelously with his voice.
He does great things, which we can’t comprehend.
Jb 37:5Jb 37:5βροντήσει ὁ ἰσχυρὸς ἐν φωνῇ αὐτοῦ θαυμάσια ἐποίησεν γὰρ μεγάλα ἃ οὐκ ᾔδειμενJb 37:5
The Mighty One shall thunder wonderfully with his voice: for he has done great things which we knew not;

God thunders marvelously with his voice.
He does great things, which we can’t comprehend.
6Jb 37:66כִּ֤י לַשֶּׁ֨לַג ׀ יֹאמַ֗ר הֱוֵ֫א אָ֥רֶץ וְגֶ֥שֶׁם מָטָ֑ר וְ֝גֶ֗שֶׁם מִטְר֥וֹת עֻזּֽוֹ׃Jb 37:6
For he says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth;’
likewise to the shower of rain,
and to the showers of his mighty rain.
Jb 37:6Jb 37:6συντάσσων χιόνι γίνου ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ χειμὼν ὑετός καὶ χειμὼν ὑετῶν δυναστείας αὐτοῦJb 37:6
commanding the snow, Be thou upon the earth, and the stormy rain, and the storm of the showers of his might.
Jb 37:6
For he says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth;’
likewise to the shower of rain,
and to the showers of his mighty rain.
7Jb 37:77בְּיַד־כָּל־אָדָ֥ם יַחְתּ֑וֹם לָ֝דַ֗עַת כָּל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י מַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃Jb 37:7
He seals up the hand of every man,
that all men whom he has made may know it.
Jb 37:7Jb 37:7ἐν χειρὶ παντὸς ἀνθρώπου κατασφραγίζει ἵνα γνῷ πᾶς ἄνθρωπος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ἀσθένειανJb 37:7
He seals up the hand of every man, that every man may know his own weakness.
Jb 37:7
He seals up the hand of every man,
that all men whom he has made may know it.
8Jb 37:88וַתָּבֹ֣א חַיָּ֣ה בְמוֹ־אָ֑רֶב וּבִמְע֖וֹנֹתֶ֣יהָ תִשְׁכֹּֽן׃Jb 37:8
Then the animals take cover,
and remain in their dens.
Jb 37:8Jb 37:8εἰσῆλθεν δὲ θηρία ὑπὸ σκέπην ἡσύχασαν δὲ ἐπὶ κοίτηςJb 37:8
And the wild beasts come in under the covert, and rest in their lair.

Then the animals take cover,
and remain in their dens.
9Jb 37:99מִן־הַ֭חֶדֶר תָּב֣וֹא סוּפָ֑ה וּֽמִמְּזָרִ֥ים קָרָֽה׃Jb 37:9
Out of its room comes the storm,
and cold out of the north.
Jb 37:9Jb 37:9ἐκ ταμιείων ἐπέρχονται δῖναι ἀπὸ δὲ ἀκρωτηρίων ψῦχοςJb 37:9
Troubles come on out of the secret chambers, and cold from the mountain-tops.

Out of its room comes the storm,
and cold out of the north.
10Jb 37:1010מִנִּשְׁמַת־אֵ֥ל יִתֶּן־קָ֑רַח וְרֹ֖חַב מַ֣יִם בְּמוּצָֽק׃Jb 37:10
By the breath of God, ice is given,
and the breadth of the waters is frozen.
Jb 37:10Jb 37:10καὶ ἀπὸ πνοῆς ἰσχυροῦ δώσει πάγος οἰακίζει δὲ τὸ ὕδωρ ὡς ἐὰν βούληταιJb 37:10
And from the breath of the Mighty One he will send frost; and he guides the water in whatever way he pleases.
Jb 37:10
By the breath of God, ice is given,
and the breadth of the waters is frozen.
11Jb 37:1111אַף־בְּ֭רִי יַטְרִ֣יחַ עָ֑ב יָ֝פִ֗יץ עֲנַ֣ן אוֹרֽוֹ׃Jb 37:11
Yes, he loads the thick cloud with moisture.
He spreads abroad the cloud of his lightning.
Jb 37:11Jb 37:11καὶ ἐκλεκτὸν καταπλάσσει νεφέλη διασκορπιεῖ νέφος φῶς αὐτοῦJb 37:11
And if a cloud obscures what is precious to him, his light will disperse the cloud.

Yes, he loads the thick cloud with moisture.

12Jb 37:1212וְה֤וּא מְסִבּ֨וֹת ׀ מִתְהַפֵּ֣ךְ ‏{ בתחבולתו בְּתַחְבּוּלֹתָ֣יו }‏ לְפָעֳלָ֑ם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְצַוֵּ֓ם ׀ עַל־פְּנֵ֖י תֵבֵ֣ל אָֽרְצָה׃

Ketib: בתחבולתו ⬪ Qere: בְּתַחְבּוּלֹתָ֣יו
Jb 37:12
It is turned around by his guidance,
that they may do whatever he commands them
on the surface of the habitable world,
Jb 37:12Jb 37:12καὶ αὐτὸς κυκλώματα διαστρέψει ἐν θεεβουλαθω εἰς ἔργα αὐτῶν πάντα ὅσα ἂν ἐντείληται αὐτοῖς ταῦτα συντέτακται παρ’ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆςJb 37:12
And he will carry round the encircling clouds by his governance, to perform their works: whatsoever he shall command them,
Jb 37:12
It is turned around by his guidance,
that they may do whatever he commands them

13Jb 37:1313אִם־לְשֵׁ֥בֶט אִם־לְאַרְצ֑וֹ אִם־לְ֝חֶ֗סֶד יַמְצִאֵֽהוּ׃Jb 37:13
Whether it is for correction, or for his land,
or for loving kindness, that he causes it to come.
Jb 37:13Jb 37:13ἐὰν εἰς παιδείαν ἐὰν εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ ἐὰν εἰς ἔλεος εὑρήσει αὐτόνJb 37:13
this has been appointed by him on the earth, whether for correction, or for his land, or if he shall find him an object for mercy.

Whether it is for correction, or for his land,
or for loving kindness, that he causes it to come.
14Jb 37:1414הַאֲזִ֣ינָה זֹּ֣את אִיּ֑וֹב עֲ֝מֹ֗ד וְהִתְבּוֹנֵ֤ן ׀ נִפְלְא֬וֹת אֵֽל׃Jb 37:14
“Listen to this, Job.
Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
Jb 37:14Jb 37:14ἐνωτίζου ταῦτα Ιωβ στῆθι νουθετοῦ δύναμιν κυρίουJb 37:14
Hearken to this, O Job: stand still, and be admonished of the power of the Lord.
Jb 37:14
“Listen to this, Job.
Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15Jb 37:1515הֲ֭תֵדַע בְּשׂוּם־אֱל֣וֹהַּ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וְ֝הוֹפִ֗יעַ א֣וֹר עֲנָנֽוֹ׃Jb 37:15
Do you know how God controls them,
and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine?
Jb 37:15Jb 37:15οἴδαμεν ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ἔθετο ἔργα αὐτοῦ φῶς ποιήσας ἐκ σκότουςJb 37:15
We know that god has disposed his works, having made light out of darkness.
Jb 37:15
Do you know how God controls them,
and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine?
16Jb 37:1616הֲ֭תֵדַע עַל־מִפְלְשֵׂי־עָ֑ב מִ֝פְלְא֗וֹת תְּמִ֣ים דֵּעִֽים׃Jb 37:16
Do you know the workings of the clouds,
the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
Jb 37:16Jb 37:16ἐπίσταται δὲ διάκρισιν νεφῶν ἐξαίσια δὲ πτώματα πονηρῶνJb 37:16
And he knows the divisions of the clouds, and the signal overthrows of the ungodly.
Jb 37:16
Do you know the workings of the clouds,
the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
17Jb 37:1717אֲשֶׁר־בְּגָדֶ֥יךָ חַמִּ֑ים בְּהַשְׁקִ֥ט אֶ֝֗רֶץ מִדָּרֽוֹם׃Jb 37:17
You whose clothing is warm,
when the earth is still by reason of the south wind?
Jb 37:17Jb 37:17σοῦ δὲ ἡ στολὴ θερμή ἡσυχάζεται δὲ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆςJb 37:17
But thy robe is warm, and there is quiet upon the land.
Jb 37:17
You whose clothing is warm,
when the earth is still by reason of the south wind?
18Jb 37:1818תַּרְקִ֣יעַ עִ֭מּוֹ לִשְׁחָקִ֑ים חֲ֝זָקִ֗ים כִּרְאִ֥י מוּצָֽק׃Jb 37:18
Can you, with him, spread out the sky,
which is strong as a cast metal mirror?
Jb 37:18Jb 37:18στερεώσεις μετ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς παλαιώματα ἰσχυραὶ ὡς ὅρασις ἐπιχύσεωςJb 37:18
Wilt thou establish with him foundations for the ancient heavens? they are strong as a molten mirror.
Jb 37:18
Can you, with him, spread out the sky,
which is strong as a cast metal mirror?
19Jb 37:1919ה֭וֹדִיעֵנוּ מַה־נֹּ֣אמַר ל֑וֹ לֹ֥א־נַ֝עֲרֹ֗ךְ מִפְּנֵי־חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃Jb 37:19
Teach us what we shall tell him,
for we can’t make our case by reason of darkness.
Jb 37:19Jb 37:19διὰ τί δίδαξόν με τί ἐροῦμεν αὐτῷ καὶ παυσώμεθα πολλὰ λέγοντεςJb 37:19
Wherefore teach me, what shall we say to him? and let us cease from saying much.
Jb 37:19
Teach us what we shall tell him,
for we can’t make our case by reason of darkness.
20Jb 37:2020הַֽיְסֻפַּר־ל֭וֹ כִּ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר אִֽם־אָ֥מַר אִ֝֗ישׁ כִּ֣י יְבֻלָּֽע׃Jb 37:20
Shall it be told him that I would speak?
Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?
Jb 37:20Jb 37:20μὴ βίβλος ἢ γραμματεύς μοι παρέστηκεν ἵνα ἄνθρωπον ἑστηκὼς κατασιωπήσωJb 37:20
Have I a book or a scribe my me, that I may stand and put man to silence?
Jb 37:20
Shall it be told him that I would speak?
Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?
21Jb 37:2121וְעַתָּ֤ה ׀ לֹ֘א רָ֤אוּ א֗וֹר בָּהִ֣יר ה֭וּא בַּשְּׁחָקִ֑ים וְר֥וּחַ עָ֝בְרָ֗ה וַֽתְּטַהֲרֵֽם׃Jb 37:21
Now men don’t see the light which is bright in the skies,
but the wind passes, and clears them.
Jb 37:21Jb 37:21πᾶσιν δ’ οὐχ ὁρατὸν τὸ φῶς τηλαυγές ἐστιν ἐν τοῖς παλαιώμασιν ὥσπερ τὸ παρ’ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ νεφῶνJb 37:21
But the light is not visible to all: it shines afar off in the heavens, as that which is from him in the clouds.
Jb 37:21
Now men don’t see the light which is bright in the skies,
but the wind passes, and clears them.
22Jb 37:2222מִ֭צָּפוֹן זָהָ֣ב יֶֽאֱתֶ֑ה עַל־אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ נ֣וֹרָא הֽוֹד׃Jb 37:22
Out of the north comes golden splendor.
With God is awesome majesty.
Jb 37:22Jb 37:22ἀπὸ βορρᾶ νέφη χρυσαυγοῦντα ἐπὶ τούτοις μεγάλη ἡ δόξα καὶ τιμὴ παντοκράτοροςJb 37:22
From the north come the clouds shining like gold: in these great are the glory and honour of the Almighty;

Out of the north comes golden splendor.
With God is awesome majesty.
23Jb 37:2323שַׁדַּ֣י לֹֽא־מְ֭צָאנֻהוּ שַׂגִּיא־כֹ֑חַ וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט וְרֹב־צְ֝דָקָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְעַנֶּֽה׃Jb 37:23
We can’t reach the Almighty.
He is exalted in power.
In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress.
Jb 37:23Jb 37:23καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκομεν ἄλλον ὅμοιον τῇ ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ ὁ τὰ δίκαια κρίνων οὐκ οἴει ἐπακούειν αὐτόνJb 37:23
and we do not find another his equal in strength: as for him that judges justly, dost thou not think that he listens?
Jb 37:23
We can’t reach the Almighty.

He doesn’t regard any who are wise of heart.”
Jb 37:24Jb 37:24διὸ φοβηθήσονται αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνθρωποι φοβηθήσονται δὲ αὐτὸν καὶ οἱ σοφοὶ καρδίᾳJb 37:24
Wherefore men shall fear him; and the wise also in heart shall fear him.

Therefore men revere him.
He doesn’t regard any who are wise of heart.”
