¶It happened, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his elder son, and said to him, “My son?”
¶He said to him, “Here I am.”
Gn 27:1Gn 27:1ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ γηρᾶσαι Ισαακ καὶ ἠμβλύνθησαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ὁρᾶν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ησαυ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν πρεσβύτερον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ υἱέ μου καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώGn 27:1
And it came to pass after Isaac was old, that his eyes were dimmed so that he could not see; and he called Esau, his elder son, and said to him, My son; and he said, Behold, I am here.

¶It happened, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his elder son, and said to him, “My son?”
¶He said to him, “Here I am.”
2Gn 27:22וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּה־נָ֖א זָקַ֑נְתִּי לֹ֥א יָדַ֖עְתִּי י֥וֹם מוֹתִֽי׃Gn 27:2
¶He said, “See now, I am old. I don’t know the day of my death.
Gn 27:2Gn 27:2καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ γεγήρακα καὶ οὐ γινώσκω τὴν ἡμέραν τῆς τελευτῆς μουGn 27:2
And he said, Behold, I am grown old, and know not the day of my death.

¶He said, “See now, I am old. I don’t know the day of my death.
3Gn 27:33וְעַתָּה֙ שָׂא־נָ֣א כֵלֶ֔יךָ תֶּלְיְךָ֖ וְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וְצֵא֙ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה וְצ֥וּדָה לִּ֖י ‏{ צידה צָֽיִד׃ }‏

Gn 27:3
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field, and take me venison.
Gn 27:3Gn 27:3νῦν οὖν λαβὲ τὸ σκεῦός σου τήν τε φαρέτραν καὶ τὸ τόξον καὶ ἔξελθε εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ θήρευσόν μοι θήρανGn 27:3
Now then take the weapons, both thy quiver and thy bow, and go into the plain, and get me venison,

Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field, and take me venison.
4Gn 27:44וַעֲשֵׂה־לִ֨י מַטְעַמִּ֜ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהַ֛בְתִּי וְהָבִ֥יאָה לִּ֖י וְאֹכֵ֑לָה בַּעֲב֛וּר תְּבָרֶכְךָ֥ נַפְשִׁ֖י בְּטֶ֥רֶם אָמֽוּת׃Gn 27:4
Make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat, and that my soul may bless you before I die.”
Gn 27:4Gn 27:4καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα ὡς φιλῶ ἐγώ καὶ ἔνεγκέ μοι ἵνα φάγω ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ἡ ψυχή μου πρὶν ἀποθανεῖν μεGn 27:4
and make me meats, as I like them, and bring them to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless thee, before I die.

5Gn 27:55וְרִבְקָ֣ה שֹׁמַ֔עַת בְּדַבֵּ֣ר יִצְחָ֔ק אֶל־עֵשָׂ֖ו בְּנ֑וֹ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ עֵשָׂו֙ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה לָצ֥וּד צַ֖יִד לְהָבִֽיא׃Gn 27:5
¶Rebekah heard when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.

And Rebecca heard Isaac speaking to Esau his son; and Esau went to the plain to procure venison for his father.

¶Rebekah heard when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.
6Gn 27:66וְרִבְקָה֙ אָֽמְרָ֔ה אֶל־יַעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָ֖הּ לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֤ה שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ אֶת־אָבִ֔יךָ מְדַבֵּ֛ר אֶל־עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יךָ לֵאמֹֽר׃Gn 27:6
Rebekah spoke to Jacob her son, saying, “Behold, I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying,
Gn 27:6Gn 27:6Ρεβεκκα δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν ἐλάσσω ἰδὲ ἐγὼ ἤκουσα τοῦ πατρός σου λαλοῦντος πρὸς Ησαυ τὸν ἀδελφόν σου λέγοντοςGn 27:6
And Rebecca said to Jacob her younger son, Behold, I heard thy father speaking to Esau thy brother, saying,

Rebekah spoke to Jacob her son, saying, “Behold, I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying,
7Gn 27:77הָבִ֨יאָה לִּ֥י צַ֛יִד וַעֲשֵׂה־לִ֥י מַטְעַמִּ֖ים וְאֹכֵ֑לָה וַאֲבָרֶכְכָ֛ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתִֽי׃Gn 27:7
‘Bring me venison, and make me savory food, that I may eat, and bless you before Yahweh before my death.’
Gn 27:7Gn 27:7ἔνεγκόν μοι θήραν καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα καὶ φαγὼν εὐλογήσω σε ἐναντίον κυρίου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν μεGn 27:7
Bring me venison, and prepare me meats, that I may eat and bless thee before the Lord before I die.
Gn 27:7
‘Bring me venison, and make me savory food, that I may eat, and bless you before Yahweh before my death.’
8Gn 27:88וְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י לַאֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י מְצַוָּ֥ה אֹתָֽךְ׃Gn 27:8
Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command you.
Gn 27:8Gn 27:8νῦν οὖν υἱέ ἄκουσόν μου καθὰ ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαιGn 27:8
Now then, my son, hearken to me, as I command thee.

9Gn 27:99לֶךְ־נָא֙ אֶל־הַצֹּ֔אן וְקַֽח־לִ֣י מִשָּׁ֗ם שְׁנֵ֛י גְּדָיֵ֥י עִזִּ֖ים טֹבִ֑ים וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨ה אֹתָ֧ם מַטְעַמִּ֛ים לְאָבִ֖יךָ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהֵֽב׃Gn 27:9
Go now to the flock, and get me from there two good young goats. I will make them savory food for your father, such as he loves.
Gn 27:9Gn 27:9καὶ πορευθεὶς εἰς τὰ πρόβατα λαβέ μοι ἐκεῖθεν δύο ἐρίφους ἁπαλοὺς καὶ καλούς καὶ ποιήσω αὐτοὺς ἐδέσματα τῷ πατρί σου ὡς φιλεῖGn 27:9
And go to the cattle and take for me thence two kids, tender and good, and I will make them meats for thy father, as he likes.

Go now to the flock, and get me from there two good young goats. I will make them savory food for your father, such as he loves.
10Gn 27:1010וְהֵבֵאתָ֥ לְאָבִ֖יךָ וְאָכָ֑ל בַּעֲבֻ֛ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְבָרֶכְךָ֖ לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתֽוֹ׃Gn 27:10
You shall bring it to your father, that he may eat, so that he may bless you before his death.”
Gn 27:10Gn 27:10καὶ εἰσοίσεις τῷ πατρί σου καὶ φάγεται ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ὁ πατήρ σου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτόνGn 27:10
And thou shalt bring them in to thy father, and he shall eat, that thy father may bless thee before he dies.
Gn 27:10
You shall bring it to your father, that he may eat, so that he may bless you before his death.”
11Gn 27:1111וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֔ב אֶל־רִבְקָ֖ה אִמּ֑וֹ הֵ֣ן עֵשָׂ֤ו אָחִי֙ אִ֣ישׁ שָׂעִ֔ר וְאָנֹכִ֖י אִ֥ישׁ חָלָֽק׃Gn 27:11
¶Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.
Gn 27:11Gn 27:11εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ πρὸς Ρεβεκκαν τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ ἔστιν Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφός μου ἀνὴρ δασύς ἐγὼ δὲ ἀνὴρ λεῖοςGn 27:11
And Jacob said to his mother Rebecca, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I a smooth man.

¶Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.
12Gn 27:1212אוּלַ֤י יְמֻשֵּׁ֙נִי֙ אָבִ֔י וְהָיִ֥יתִי בְעֵינָ֖יו כִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַ וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י עָלַ֛י קְלָלָ֖ה וְלֹ֥א בְרָכָֽה׃Gn 27:12
What if my father touches me? I will seem to him as a deceiver, and I would bring a curse on myself, and not a blessing.”
Gn 27:12Gn 27:12μήποτε ψηλαφήσῃ με ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ ἔσομαι ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ὡς καταφρονῶν καὶ ἐπάξω ἐπ’ ἐμαυτὸν κατάραν καὶ οὐκ εὐλογίανGn 27:12
Peradventure my father may feel me, and I shall be before him as one ill-intentioned, and I shall bring upon me a curse, and not a blessing.

13Gn 27:1313וַתֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ אִמּ֔וֹ עָלַ֥י קִלְלָתְךָ֖ בְּנִ֑י אַ֛ךְ שְׁמַ֥ע בְּקֹלִ֖י וְלֵ֥ךְ קַֽח־לִֽי׃Gn 27:13
¶His mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go get them for me.”
Gn 27:13Gn 27:13εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἡ κατάρα σου τέκνον μόνον ὑπάκουσον τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ πορευθεὶς ἔνεγκέ μοιGn 27:13
And his mother said to him, On me be thy curse, son; only hearken to my voice, and go and bring them me.

¶His mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go get them for me.”
14Gn 27:1414וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ וַיִּקַּ֔ח וַיָּבֵ֖א לְאִמּ֑וֹ וַתַּ֤עַשׂ אִמּוֹ֙ מַטְעַמִּ֔ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר אָהֵ֥ב אָבִֽיו׃Gn 27:14
¶He went, and got them, and brought them to his mother. His mother made savory food, such as his father loved.
Gn 27:14Gn 27:14πορευθεὶς δὲ ἔλαβεν καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρί καὶ ἐποίησεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ ἐδέσματα καθὰ ἐφίλει ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦGn 27:14
So he went and took and brought them to his mother; and his mother made meats, as his father liked them.

15Gn 27:1515וַתִּקַּ֣ח רִ֠בְקָה אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֨י עֵשָׂ֜ו בְּנָ֤הּ הַגָּדֹל֙ הַחֲמֻדֹ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתָּ֖הּ בַּבָּ֑יִת וַתַּלְבֵּ֥שׁ אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֖ב בְּנָ֥הּ הַקָּטָֽן׃Gn 27:15
Rebekah took the good clothes of Esau, her elder son, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob, her younger son.
Gn 27:15Gn 27:15καὶ λαβοῦσα Ρεβεκκα τὴν στολὴν Ησαυ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου τὴν καλήν ἣ ἦν παρ’ αὐτῇ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ ἐνέδυσεν Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν νεώτερονGn 27:15
And Rebecca having taken the fine raiment of her elder son Esau which was with her in the house, put it on Jacob her younger son.

Rebekah took the good clothes of Esau, her elder son, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob, her younger son.
16Gn 27:1616וְאֵ֗ת עֹרֹת֙ גְּדָיֵ֣י הָֽעִזִּ֔ים הִלְבִּ֖ישָׁה עַל־יָדָ֑יו וְעַ֖ל חֶלְקַ֥ת צַוָּארָֽיו׃Gn 27:16
She put the skins of the young goats on his hands, and on the smooth of his neck.
Gn 27:16Gn 27:16καὶ τὰ δέρματα τῶν ἐρίφων περιέθηκεν ἐπὶ τοὺς βραχίονας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ γυμνὰ τοῦ τραχήλου αὐτοῦGn 27:16
And she put on his arms the skins of the kids, and on the bare parts of his neck.

She put the skins of the young goats on his hands, and on the smooth of his neck.
17Gn 27:1717וַתִּתֵּ֧ן אֶת־הַמַּטְעַמִּ֛ים וְאֶת־הַלֶּ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑תָה בְּיַ֖ד יַעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָֽהּ׃Gn 27:17
She gave the savory food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
Gn 27:17Gn 27:17καὶ ἔδωκεν τὰ ἐδέσματα καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους οὓς ἐποίησεν εἰς τὰς χεῖρας Ιακωβ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆςGn 27:17
And she gave the meats, and the loaves which she had prepared, into the hands of Jacob her son.
Gn 27:17
She gave the savory food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
18Gn 27:1818וַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל־אָבִ֖יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אָבִ֑י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הִנֶּ֔נִּי מִ֥י אַתָּ֖ה בְּנִֽי׃Gn 27:18
¶He came to his father, and said, “My father?”
¶He said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?”
Gn 27:18Gn 27:18καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν δέ πάτερ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ τίς εἶ σύ τέκνονGn 27:18
And he brought them to his father, and said, Father; and he said, Behold I am here; who art thou, son?

¶He came to his father, and said, “My father?”
¶He said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?”
19Gn 27:1919וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶל־אָבִ֗יו אָנֹכִי֙ עֵשָׂ֣ו בְּכֹרֶ֔ךָ עָשִׂ֕יתִי כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ אֵלָ֑י קֽוּם־נָ֣א שְׁבָ֗ה וְאָכְלָה֙ מִצֵּידִ֔י בַּעֲב֖וּר תְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃Gn 27:19
¶Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn. I have done what you asked me to do. Please arise, sit and eat of my venison, that your soul may bless me.”
Gn 27:19Gn 27:19καὶ εἶπεν Ιακωβ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ ἐγὼ Ησαυ ὁ πρωτότοκός σου ἐποίησα καθὰ ἐλάλησάς μοι ἀναστὰς κάθισον καὶ φάγε τῆς θήρας μου ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ με ἡ ψυχή σουGn 27:19
And Jacob said to his father, I, Esau thy first-born, have done as thou toldest me; rise, sit, and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

¶Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn. I have done what you asked me to do. Please arise, sit and eat of my venison, that your soul may bless me.”
20Gn 27:2020וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ אֶל־בְּנ֔וֹ מַה־זֶּ֛ה מִהַ֥רְתָּ לִמְצֹ֖א בְּנִ֑י וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֥י הִקְרָ֛ה יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לְפָנָֽי׃Gn 27:20
¶Isaac said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?”
¶He said, “Because Yahweh your God gave me success.”
Gn 27:20Gn 27:20εἶπεν δὲ Ισαακ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ τί τοῦτο ὃ ταχὺ εὗρες ὦ τέκνον ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ὃ παρέδωκεν κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐναντίον μουGn 27:20
And Isaac said to his son, What is this which thou hast quickly found? And he said, That which the Lord thy God presented before me.

¶Isaac said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?”
¶He said, “Because Yahweh your God gave me success.”
21Gn 27:2121וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֔ב גְּשָׁה־נָּ֥א וַאֲמֻֽשְׁךָ֖ בְּנִ֑י הַֽאַתָּ֥ה זֶ֛ה בְּנִ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו אִם־לֹֽא׃Gn 27:21
¶Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.”
Gn 27:21Gn 27:21εἶπεν δὲ Ισαακ τῷ Ιακωβ ἔγγισόν μοι καὶ ψηλαφήσω σε τέκνον εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱός μου Ησαυ ἢ οὔGn 27:21
And Isaac said to Jacob, Draw night to me, and I will feel thee, son, if thou art my son Esau or not.
Gn 27:21
¶Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.”
22Gn 27:2222וַיִּגַּ֧שׁ יַעֲקֹ֛ב אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו וַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַקֹּל֙ ק֣וֹל יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְהַיָּדַ֖יִם יְדֵ֥י עֵשָֽׂו׃Gn 27:22
¶Jacob went near to Isaac his father. He felt him, and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
Gn 27:22Gn 27:22ἤγγισεν δὲ Ιακωβ πρὸς Ισαακ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐψηλάφησεν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν ἡ μὲν φωνὴ φωνὴ Ιακωβ αἱ δὲ χεῖρες χεῖρες ΗσαυGn 27:22
And Jacob drew night to his father Isaac, and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

¶Jacob went near to Isaac his father. He felt him, and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
23Gn 27:2323וְלֹ֣א הִכִּיר֔וֹ כִּֽי־הָי֣וּ יָדָ֗יו כִּידֵ֛י עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יו שְׂעִרֹ֑ת וַֽיְבָרְכֵֽהוּ׃Gn 27:23
He didn’t recognize him, because his hands were hairy, like his brother, Esau’s hands. So he blessed him.
Gn 27:23Gn 27:23καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω αὐτόν ἦσαν γὰρ αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ὡς αἱ χεῖρες Ησαυ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ δασεῖαι καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτόνGn 27:23
And he knew him not, for his hands were as the hands of his brother Esau, hairy; and he blessed him,
Gn 27:23
He didn’t recognize him, because his hands were hairy, like his brother, Esau’s hands. So he blessed him.
24Gn 27:2424וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אַתָּ֥ה זֶ֖ה בְּנִ֣י עֵשָׂ֑ו וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָֽנִי׃Gn 27:24
He said, “Are you really my son Esau?”
¶He said, “I am.”
Gn 27:24Gn 27:24καὶ εἶπεν σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱός μου Ησαυ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώGn 27:24
and he said, Art thou my son Esau? and he said, I am.
Gn 27:24
He said, “Are you really my son Esau?”
¶He said, “I am.”
25Gn 27:2525וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַגִּ֤שָׁה לִּי֙ וְאֹֽכְלָה֙ מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנִ֔י לְמַ֥עַן תְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֖ נַפְשִׁ֑י וַיַּגֶּשׁ־לוֹ֙ וַיֹּאכַ֔ל וַיָּ֧בֵא ל֦וֹ יַ֖יִן וַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ׃Gn 27:25
¶He said, “Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless you.”
¶He brought it near to him, and he ate. He brought him wine, and he drank.

And he said, Bring hither, and I will eat of thy venison, son, that my soul may bless thee; and he brought it near to him, and he ate, and he brought him wine, and he drank.

¶He said, “Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless you.”
¶He brought it near to him, and he ate. He brought him wine, and he drank.
26Gn 27:2626וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו יִצְחָ֣ק אָבִ֑יו גְּשָׁה־נָּ֥א וּשְׁקָה־לִּ֖י בְּנִֽי׃Gn 27:26
His father Isaac said to him, “Come near now, and kiss me, my son.”

He came near, and kissed him. He smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him, and said,
“Behold, the smell of my son
is as the smell of a field which Yahweh has blessed.

And he drew nigh and kissed him, and smelled the smell of his garments, and blessed him, and said, Behold, the smell of my son is as the smell of an abundant field, which the Lord has blessed.

28Gn 27:2828וְיִֽתֶּן־לְךָ֙ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים מִטַּל֙ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּמִשְׁמַנֵּ֖י הָאָ֑רֶץ וְרֹ֥ב דָּגָ֖ן וְתִירֹֽשׁ׃Gn 27:28
God give you of the dew of the sky,
of the fatness of the earth,
and plenty of grain and new wine.
Gn 27:28Gn 27:28καὶ δῴη σοι ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ τῆς δρόσου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς πιότητος τῆς γῆς καὶ πλῆθος σίτου καὶ οἴνουGn 27:28
And may God give thee of the dew of heaven, and of the fatness of the earth, and abundance of corn and wine.

Gn 27:29
Let peoples serve you,
and nations bow down to you.
Be lord over your brothers.
Let your mother’s sons bow down to you.
Cursed be everyone who curses you.
Blessed be everyone who blesses you.”

¶It happened, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob had just gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
Gn 27:30Gn 27:30καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ παύσασθαι Ισαακ εὐλογοῦντα Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξῆλθεν Ιακωβ ἀπὸ προσώπου Ισαακ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ἦλθεν ἀπὸ τῆς θήραςGn 27:30
And it came to pass after Isaac had ceased blessing his son Jacob, it even came to pass, just when Jacob had gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

¶It happened, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob had just gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
31Gn 27:3131וַיַּ֤עַשׂ גַּם־הוּא֙ מַטְעַמִּ֔ים וַיָּבֵ֖א לְאָבִ֑יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאָבִ֗יו יָקֻ֤ם אָבִי֙ וְיֹאכַל֙ מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנ֔וֹ בַּעֲב֖וּר תְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃Gn 27:31
He also made savory food, and brought it to his father. He said to his father, “Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that your soul may bless me.”

¶Isaac his father said to him, “Who are you?”
¶He said, “I am your son, your firstborn, Esau.”

And Isaac his father said to him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy first-born son Esau.

33Gn 27:3333וַיֶּחֱרַ֨ד יִצְחָ֣ק חֲרָדָה֮ גְּדֹלָ֣ה עַד־מְאֹד֒ וַיֹּ֡אמֶר מִֽי־אֵפ֡וֹא ה֣וּא הַצָּֽד־צַיִד֩ וַיָּ֨בֵא לִ֜י וָאֹכַ֥ל מִכֹּ֛ל בְּטֶ֥רֶם תָּב֖וֹא וָאֲבָרֲכֵ֑הוּ גַּם־בָּר֖וּךְ יִהְיֶֽה׃Gn 27:33
¶Isaac trembled violently, and said, “Who, then, is he who has taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before you came, and have blessed him? Yes, he will be blessed.”
Gn 27:33Gn 27:33ἐξέστη δὲ Ισαακ ἔκστασιν μεγάλην σφόδρα καὶ εἶπεν τίς οὖν ὁ θηρεύσας μοι θήραν καὶ εἰσενέγκας μοι καὶ ἔφαγον ἀπὸ πάντων πρὸ τοῦ σε ἐλθεῖν καὶ ηὐλόγησα αὐτόν καὶ εὐλογημένος ἔστωGn 27:33
And Isaac was amazed with very great amazement, and said, Who then is it that has procured venison for me and brought it to me? and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and I have blessed him, and he shall be blessed.

¶Isaac trembled violently, and said, “Who, then, is he who has taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before you came, and have blessed him? Yes, he will be blessed.”
34Gn 27:3434כִּשְׁמֹ֤עַ עֵשָׂו֙ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֣י אָבִ֔יו וַיִּצְעַ֣ק צְעָקָ֔ה גְּדֹלָ֥ה וּמָרָ֖ה עַד־מְאֹ֑ד וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאָבִ֔יו בָּרֲכֵ֥נִי גַם־אָ֖נִי אָבִֽי׃Gn 27:34
¶When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceeding great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me, even me also, my father.”
Gn 27:34Gn 27:34ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἤκουσεν Ησαυ τὰ ῥήματα Ισαακ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἀνεβόησεν φωνὴν μεγάλην καὶ πικρὰν σφόδρα καὶ εἶπεν εὐλόγησον δὴ κἀμέ πάτερGn 27:34
And it came to pass when Esau heard the words of his father Isaac, he cried out with a great and very bitter cry, and said, Bless, I pray thee, me also, father.

¶When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceeding great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me, even me also, my father.”
35Gn 27:3535וַיֹּ֕אמֶר בָּ֥א אָחִ֖יךָ בְּמִרְמָ֑ה וַיִּקַּ֖ח בִּרְכָתֶֽךָ׃Gn 27:35
¶He said, “Your brother came with deceit, and has taken away your blessing.”
Gn 27:35Gn 27:35εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἐλθὼν ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ δόλου ἔλαβεν τὴν εὐλογίαν σουGn 27:35
And he said to him, Thy brother has come with subtlety, and taken thy blessing.

¶He said, “Your brother came with deceit, and has taken away your blessing.”
36Gn 27:3636וַיֹּ֡אמֶר הֲכִי֩ קָרָ֨א שְׁמ֜וֹ יַעֲקֹ֗ב וַֽיַּעְקְבֵ֙נִי֙ זֶ֣ה פַעֲמַ֔יִם אֶת־בְּכֹרָתִ֣י לָקָ֔ח וְהִנֵּ֥ה עַתָּ֖ה לָקַ֣ח בִּרְכָתִ֑י וַיֹּאמַ֕ר הֲלֹא־אָצַ֥לְתָּ לִּ֖י בְּרָכָֽה׃Gn 27:36
¶He said, “Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. See, now he has taken away my blessing.” He said, “Haven’t you reserved a blessing for me?”
Gn 27:36Gn 27:36καὶ εἶπεν δικαίως ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ιακωβ ἐπτέρνικεν γάρ με ἤδη δεύτερον τοῦτο τά τε πρωτοτόκιά μου εἴληφεν καὶ νῦν εἴληφεν τὴν εὐλογίαν μου καὶ εἶπεν Ησαυ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ οὐχ ὑπελίπω μοι εὐλογίαν πάτερGn 27:36
And he said, Rightly was his name called Jacob, for lo! this second time has he supplanted me; he has both taken my birthright, and now he has taken my blessing; and Esau said to his father, Hast thou not left a blessing for me, father?

¶He said, “Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. See, now he has taken away my blessing.” He said, “Haven’t you reserved a blessing for me?”
37Gn 27:3737וַיַּ֨עַן יִצְחָ֜ק וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְעֵשָׂ֗ו הֵ֣ן גְּבִ֞יר שַׂמְתִּ֥יו לָךְ֙ וְאֶת־כָּל־אֶחָ֗יו נָתַ֤תִּי לוֹ֙ לַעֲבָדִ֔ים וְדָגָ֥ן וְתִירֹ֖שׁ סְמַכְתִּ֑יו וּלְכָ֣ה אֵפ֔וֹא מָ֥ה אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה בְּנִֽי׃Gn 27:37
¶Isaac answered Esau, “Behold, I have made him your lord, and all his brothers have I given to him for servants. With grain and new wine have I sustained him. What then will I do for you, my son?”
Gn 27:37Gn 27:37ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ισαακ εἶπεν τῷ Ησαυ εἰ κύριον αὐτὸν ἐποίησά σου καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐποίησα αὐτοῦ οἰκέτας σίτῳ καὶ οἴνῳ ἐστήρισα αὐτόν σοὶ δὲ τί ποιήσω τέκνονGn 27:37
And Isaac answered and said to Esau, If I have made him thy lord, and have made all his brethren his servants, and have strengthened him with corn and wine, what then shall I do for thee, son?

¶Isaac answered Esau, “Behold, I have made him your lord, and all his brothers have I given to him for servants. With grain and new wine have I sustained him. What then will I do for you, my son?”
38Gn 27:3838וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו אֶל־אָבִ֗יו הַֽבְרָכָ֨ה אַחַ֤ת הִֽוא־לְךָ֙ אָבִ֔י בָּרֲכֵ֥נִי גַם־אָ֖נִי אָבִ֑י וַיִּשָּׂ֥א עֵשָׂ֛ו קֹל֖וֹ וַיֵּֽבְךְּ׃Gn 27:38
¶Esau said to his father, “Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, my father.” Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
Gn 27:38Gn 27:38εἶπεν δὲ Ησαυ πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ μὴ εὐλογία μία σοί ἐστιν πάτερ εὐλόγησον δὴ κἀμέ πάτερ κατανυχθέντος δὲ Ισαακ ἀνεβόησεν φωνὴν Ησαυ καὶ ἔκλαυσενGn 27:38
And Esau said to his father, Hast thou only one blessing, father? Bless, I pray thee, me also, father. And Isaac being troubled, Esau cried aloud and wept.

¶Esau said to his father, “Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, my father.” Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
39Gn 27:3939וַיַּ֛עַן יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֑יו הִנֵּ֞ה מִשְׁמַנֵּ֤י הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה מֽוֹשָׁבֶ֔ךָ וּמִטַּ֥ל הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם מֵעָֽל׃Gn 27:39
¶Isaac his father answered him,
“Behold, of the fatness of the earth will be your dwelling,
and of the dew of the sky from above.
Gn 27:39Gn 27:39ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ισαακ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ ἀπὸ τῆς πιότητος τῆς γῆς ἔσται ἡ κατοίκησίς σου καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς δρόσου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἄνωθενGn 27:39
And Isaac his father answered and said to him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above.

¶Isaac his father answered him,
“Behold, of the fatness of the earth will be your dwelling,
and of the dew of the sky from above.
40Gn 27:4040וְעַל־חַרְבְּךָ֣ תִֽחְיֶ֔ה וְאֶת־אָחִ֖יךָ תַּעֲבֹ֑ד וְהָיָה֙ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר תָּרִ֔יד וּפָרַקְתָּ֥ עֻלּ֖וֹ מֵעַ֥ל צַוָּארֶֽךָ׃Gn 27:40
By your sword will you live, and you will serve your brother.
It will happen, when you will break loose,
that you shall shake his yoke from off your neck.”
Gn 27:40Gn 27:40καὶ ἐπὶ τῇ μαχαίρῃ σου ζήσῃ καὶ τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου δουλεύσεις ἔσται δὲ ἡνίκα ἐὰν καθέλῃς καὶ ἐκλύσεις τὸν ζυγὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ τραχήλου σουGn 27:40
And thou shalt live by thy sword, and shalt serve thy brother; and there shall be a time when thou shalt break and loosen his yoke from off thy neck.
Gn 27:40
By your sword will you live, and you will serve your brother.
It will happen, when you will break loose,
that you shall shake his yoke from off your neck.”
41Gn 27:4141וַיִּשְׂטֹ֤ם עֵשָׂו֙ אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֔ב עַל־הַ֨בְּרָכָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּרֲכ֖וֹ אָבִ֑יו וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו בְּלִבּ֗וֹ יִקְרְבוּ֙ יְמֵי֙ אֵ֣בֶל אָבִ֔י וְאַֽהַרְגָ֖ה אֶת־יַעֲקֹ֥ב אָחִֽי׃Gn 27:41
¶Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
Gn 27:41Gn 27:41καὶ ἐνεκότει Ησαυ τῷ Ιακωβ περὶ τῆς εὐλογίας ἧς εὐλόγησεν αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν δὲ Ησαυ ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ ἐγγισάτωσαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πένθους τοῦ πατρός μου ἵνα ἀποκτείνω Ιακωβ τὸν ἀδελφόν μουGn 27:41
And Esau was angry with Jacob because of the blessing, with which his father blessed him; and Esau said in his mind, Let the days of my father's mourning draw nigh, that I may slay my brother Jacob.

¶Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
42Gn 27:4242וַיֻּגַּ֣ד לְרִבְקָ֔ה אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו בְּנָ֣הּ הַגָּדֹ֑ל וַתִּשְׁלַ֞ח וַתִּקְרָ֤א לְיַעֲקֹב֙ בְּנָ֣הּ הַקָּטָ֔ן וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו הִנֵּה֙ עֵשָׂ֣ו אָחִ֔יךָ מִתְנַחֵ֥ם לְךָ֖ לְהָרְגֶֽךָ׃Gn 27:42
¶The words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebekah. She sent and called Jacob, her younger son, and said to him, “Behold, your brother Esau comforts himself about you by planning to kill you.
Gn 27:42Gn 27:42ἀπηγγέλη δὲ Ρεβεκκα τὰ ῥήματα Ησαυ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου καὶ πέμψασα ἐκάλεσεν Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν νεώτερον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἀπειλεῖ σοι τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναί σεGn 27:42
And the words of Esau her elder son were reported to Rebecca, and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him, Behold, Esau thy brother threatens thee to kill thee.

¶The words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebekah. She sent and called Jacob, her younger son, and said to him, “Behold, your brother Esau comforts himself about you by planning to kill you.
43Gn 27:4343וְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י וְק֧וּם בְּרַח־לְךָ֛ אֶל־לָבָ֥ן אָחִ֖י חָרָֽנָה׃Gn 27:43
Now therefore, my son, obey my voice. Arise, flee to Laban, my brother, in Haran.
Gn 27:43Gn 27:43νῦν οὖν τέκνον ἄκουσόν μου τῆς φωνῆς καὶ ἀναστὰς ἀπόδραθι εἰς τὴν Μεσοποταμίαν πρὸς Λαβαν τὸν ἀδελφόν μου εἰς ΧαρρανGn 27:43
Now then, my son, hear my voice, and rise and depart quickly into Mesopotamia to Laban my brother into Charran.

Now therefore, my son, obey my voice. Arise, flee to Laban, my brother, in Haran.
44Gn 27:4444וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֥ עִמּ֖וֹ יָמִ֣ים אֲחָדִ֑ים עַ֥ד אֲשֶׁר־תָּשׁ֖וּב חֲמַ֥ת אָחִֽיךָ׃Gn 27:44
Stay with him a few days, until your brother’s fury turns away;
Gn 27:44Gn 27:44καὶ οἴκησον μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἡμέρας τινὰς ἕως τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν θυμὸνGn 27:44
And dwell with him certain days, until thy brother's anger

Stay with him a few days, until your brother’s fury turns away;
45Gn 27:4545עַד־שׁ֨וּב אַף־אָחִ֜יךָ מִמְּךָ֗ וְשָׁכַח֙ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ וְשָׁלַחְתִּ֖י וּלְקַחְתִּ֣יךָ מִשָּׁ֑ם לָמָ֥ה אֶשְׁכַּ֛ל גַּם־שְׁנֵיכֶ֖ם י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃Gn 27:45
until your brother’s anger turn away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send, and get you from there. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?”
Gn 27:45Gn 27:45καὶ τὴν ὀργὴν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ ἐπιλάθηται ἃ πεποίηκας αὐτῷ καὶ ἀποστείλασα μεταπέμψομαί σε ἐκεῖθεν μήποτε ἀτεκνωθῶ ἀπὸ τῶν δύο ὑμῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷGn 27:45
and rage depart from thee, and he forget what thou hast done to him; and I will send and fetch thee thence, lest at any time I should be bereaved of you both in one day.

¶Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these, of the daughters of the land, what good will my life do me?”
Gn 27:46Gn 27:46εἶπεν δὲ Ρεβεκκα πρὸς Ισαακ προσώχθικα τῇ ζωῇ μου διὰ τὰς θυγατέρας τῶν υἱῶν Χετ εἰ λήμψεται Ιακωβ γυναῖκα ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων τῆς γῆς ταύτης ἵνα τί μοι ζῆνGn 27:46
And Rebecca said to Isaac, I am weary of my life, because of the daughters of the sons of Chet; if Jacob shall take a wife of the daughters of this land, wherefore should I live?
