I Daniel understood by books the number of the years which was the word of the Lord to the prophet Jeremias, even seventy years for the accomplishment of the desolation of Jerusalem.

To thee, O Lord, belongs righteousness, an to us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Juda, and to the dwellers in Jerusalem, and to all Israel, to them that are near, and to them that are far off in all the earth, wherever thou has scattered them, for the sin which they committed.

If a seven-year period (i.e., a week of years), then seventy periods = 490 years (assuming 360-day years, then 490*360/365.24 = 483 solar years). (See Lv. 25:8 for an explicitly qualified period of seven years: ἑπτὰ ἑβδομάδες ἐτῶν, seven periods of seven years, i.e., forty-nine years.) While here unspecified whether of days or years, this is in contrast to Dn. 10:2 which makes an explicit qualification where days are intended: τρεῖς ἑβοδμάδας ἡμερῶν, three periods of seven days, i.e., three weeks.
