Zacchaeus

Lk19:1Καὶ εἰσελθὼν διήρχετο τὴν Ἰεριχώ.Lk19:1¶He entered and was passing through Jericho.

Lk19:2There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
Lk19:3Καὶ ἐζήτει ἰδεῖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν τίς ἐστιν, καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου, ὅτι τῇ ἡλικίᾳ μικρὸς ἦν.Lk19:3He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.

Lk19:4He ran on ahead, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.
Lk19:5Καὶ ὡς ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον, ἀναβλέψας ὁ Ἰησοῦς { εἶδεν αὐτόν, καὶ ♦ - } εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν, Ζακχαῖε, σπεύσας κατάβηθι· σήμερον γὰρ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου δεῖ με μεῖναι.

Lk19:5When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
Lk19:6Καὶ σπεύσας κατέβη, καὶ ὑπεδέξατο αὐτὸν χαίρων.Lk19:6He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.
Lk19:7Καὶ ἰδόντες πάντες διεγόγγυζον, λέγοντες ὅτι Παρὰ ἁμαρτωλῷ ἀνδρὶ εἰσῆλθεν καταλῦσαι.Lk19:7When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”
Lk19:8Σταθεὶς δὲ Ζακχαῖος εἶπεν πρὸς τὸν κύριον, Ἰδού, τὰ { ἡμίση ♦ ἡμίσιά μου } τῶν ὑπαρχόντων { μου, κύριε ♦ κύριε }, { δίδωμι τοῖς πτωχοῖς ♦ τοῖς πτωχοῖς δίδωμι }· καὶ εἴ τινός τι ἐσυκοφάντησα, ἀποδίδωμι τετραπλοῦν.

Lk19:8¶Zacchaeus stood stopped and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”
Lk19:9Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Σήμερον σωτηρία τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ ἐγένετο, καθότι καὶ αὐτὸς υἱὸς Ἀβραάμ ἐστιν.Lk19:9¶Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
Lk19:10Ἦλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ζητῆσαι καὶ σῶσαι τὸ ἀπολωλός.Lk19:10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”

The Talents and Minas

Lk19:11¶Ἀκουόντων δὲ αὐτῶν ταῦτα, προσθεὶς εἶπεν παραβολήν, διὰ τὸ ἐγγὺς { αὐτὸν εἶναι Ἱερουσαλήμ ♦ εἶναι Ἰερουσαλὴμ αὐτὸν }, καὶ δοκεῖν αὐτοὺς ὅτι παραχρῆμα μέλλει ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἀναφαίνεσθαι.

Lk19:11¶As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the Kingdom of God would be revealed immediately.

Mt25:15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.Lk19:13He called ten of his servants of his, and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’
Lk19:14Οἱ δὲ πολῖται αὐτοῦ ἐμίσουν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπέστειλαν πρεσβείαν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ, λέγοντες, Οὐ θέλομεν τοῦτον βασιλεῦσαι ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς.Lk19:14But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’

Mt25:19“Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them.Lk19:15“It happened when he had come back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
