Lk18:1¶He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up falter,
Lk18:2λέγων, Κριτής τις ἦν ἔν τινι πόλει, τὸν θεὸν μὴ φοβούμενος, καὶ ἄνθρωπον μὴ ἐντρεπόμενος·Lk18:2saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man.
Lk18:3χήρα δὲ ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει ἐκείνῃ, καὶ ἤρχετο πρὸς αὐτόν, λέγουσα, Ἐκδίκησόν με ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀντιδίκου μου.Lk18:3A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’

Lk18:4He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God, nor respect man,

Lk18:7Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
Lk18:8Λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ποιήσει τὴν ἐκδίκησιν αὐτῶν ἐν τάχει. Πλὴν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐλθὼν ἆρα εὑρήσει τὴν πίστιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς;Lk18:8I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

God, I Thank You That I Am Not Like the Rest of Men

Lk18:9¶Εἶπεν δὲ { πρός ♦ καὶ πρός } τινας τοὺς πεποιθότας ἐφ’ ἑαυτοῖς ὅτι εἰσὶν δίκαιοι, καὶ ἐξουθενοῦντας τοὺς λοιπούς, τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην·

Lk18:9¶He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.

Lk18:11Ὁ Φαρισαῖος σταθεὶς πρὸς ἑαυτὸν ταῦτα προσηύχετο, Ὁ θεός, εὐχαριστῶ σοι ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ ὥσπερ οἱ λοιποὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἅρπαγες, ἄδικοι, μοιχοί, ἢ καὶ ὡς οὗτος ὁ τελώνης.Lk18:11The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself up and prayed like this: ‘God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

Lk18:12Νηστεύω δὶς τοῦ σαββάτου, ἀποδεκατῶ πάντα ὅσα κτῶμαι.Lk18:12I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’
