Lk 7:1
¶After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

Lk 7:2
A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
3Ἀκούσας δὲ περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ, ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς αὐτὸν πρεσβυτέρους τῶν Ἰουδαίων, ἐρωτῶν αὐτόν, ὅπως ἐλθὼν διασώσῃ τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ.Lk 7:3
When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.
4Οἱ δέ, παραγενόμενοι πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν σπουδαίως, λέγοντες ὅτι Ἄξιός ἐστιν { παρέξειπαρέξῃ } τοῦτο·

Lk 7:4
When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him,
5ἀγαπᾷ γὰρ τὸ ἔθνος ἡμῶν, καὶ τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτὸς ᾠκοδόμησεν ἡμῖν.Lk 7:5
for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.”
6 δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἐπορεύετο σὺν αὐτοῖς. Ἤδη δὲ αὐτοῦ οὐ μακρὰν ἀπέχοντος ἀπὸ τῆς οἰκίας, ἔπεμψεν { πρὸς αὐτὸν ἑκατόνταρχος φίλουςφίλους ἑκατοντάρχης }, λέγων αὐτῷ, Κύριε, μὴ σκύλλου· οὐ γάρ { εἰμι ἱκανὸςἱκανός εἰμι } ἵνα ὑπὸ τὴν στέγην μου εἰσέλθῃς·

Lk 7:6
Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.

Lk 7:7
Therefore Nay, I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8Καὶ γὰρ ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπός εἰμι ὑπὸ ἐξουσίαν τασσόμενος, ἔχων ὑπ’ ἐμαυτὸν στρατιώτας, καὶ λέγω τούτῳ, Πορεύθητι, καὶ πορεύεται· καὶ ἄλλῳ, Ἔρχου, καὶ ἔρχεται· καὶ τῷ δούλῳ μου, Ποίησον τοῦτο, καὶ ποιεῖ.Lk 7:8
For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9Ἀκούσας δὲ ταῦτα Ἰησοῦς ἐθαύμασεν αὐτόν, καὶ στραφεὶς τῷ ἀκολουθοῦντι αὐτῷ ὄχλῳ εἶπεν, Λέγω ὑμῖν, { οὔτεοὐδὲ } ἐν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ τοσαύτην πίστιν εὗρον.

Lk 7:9
¶When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.”

Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.

¶It happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.

When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, “Don’t cry.”
14Καὶ προσελθὼν ἥψατο τῆς σοροῦ· οἱ δὲ βαστάζοντες ἔστησαν. Καὶ εἶπεν, Νεανίσκε, σοὶ λέγω, ἐγέρθητι.Lk 7:14
He came near and And approaching he touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still stopped. And He he said:, “Young man, I tell you, arise!” Young man, I say to you, Get up!
15Καὶ ἀνεκάθισεν νεκρός, καὶ ἤρξατο λαλεῖν. Καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ.Lk 7:15

¶Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited his people!”

John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”

¶In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.

Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have are having good news preached relayed to them.
23καὶ μακάριός ἐστιν, ὃς ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί.Lk 7:23
Blessed is he who is not offended by me.”
24Ἀπελθόντων δὲ τῶν ἀγγέλων Ἰωάννου, ἤρξατο λέγειν { τοῖς ὄχλοιςπρὸς τοὺς ὄχλους } περὶ Ἰωάννου, Τί { ἐξεληλύθατεἐξήλθατε } εἰς τὴν ἔρημον θεάσασθαι; Κάλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου σαλευόμενον;

¶When John’s messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25Ἀλλὰ τί { ἐξεληλύθατεἐξήλθατε } ἰδεῖν; Ἄνθρωπον ἐν μαλακοῖς ἱματίοις ἠμφιεσμένον; Ἰδού, οἱ ἐν ἱματισμῷ ἐνδόξῳ καὶ τρυφῇ ὑπάρχοντες ἐν τοῖς βασιλείοις εἰσίν.

But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.

‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face,

Lk 7:28
“For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer, yet he who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29Καὶ πᾶς λαὸς ἀκούσας καὶ οἱ τελῶναι ἐδικαίωσαν τὸν θεόν, βαπτισθέντες τὸ βάπτισμα Ἰωάννου·Lk 7:29
¶When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, and the tax collectors, they declared upheld[a] God to be just, having been by being baptized with John’s baptism.

30οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ οἱ νομικοὶ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θεοῦ ἠθέτησαν εἰς ἑαυτούς, μὴ βαπτισθέντες ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ.Lk 7:30
But the Pharisees and the lawyers legalists rejected for themselves the counsel of God, (by) not being baptized by him themselves.
31Τίνι οὖν ὁμοιώσω τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης, καὶ τίνι εἰσὶν ὅμοιοι;Lk 7:31
*“To what then will I liken the people of this generation? What, to what even are they like?
32Ὅμοιοί εἰσιν παιδίοις τοῖς ἐν ἀγορᾷ καθημένοις, καὶ προσφωνοῦσιν ἀλλήλοις, { καὶ λέγουσιν λέγει }, Ηὐλήσαμεν ὑμῖν, καὶ οὐκ ὠρχήσασθε· { ἐθρηνήσαμεν ὑμῖνἐθρηνήσαμεν }, καὶ οὐκ ἐκλαύσατε.

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man, a glutton and a drunkard;, a friend of one loved by tax collectors and sinners!’[a]

35Καὶ ἐδικαιώθη σοφία ἀπὸ { τῶν τέκνων αὐτῆς πάντωνπάντων τῶν τέκνων αὐτῆς }.

Wisdom is justified by all her children.”

Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39Ἰδὼν δὲ Φαρισαῖος καλέσας αὐτὸν εἶπεν ἐν ἑαυτῷ λέγων, Οὗτος, εἰ ἦν προφήτης, ἐγίνωσκεν ἂν τίς καὶ ποταπὴ γυνὴ ἥτις ἅπτεται αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἁμαρτωλός ἐστιν.Lk 7:39
Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.”
40Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν, Σίμων, ἔχω σοί τι εἰπεῖν. δέ { φησιν, Διδάσκαλε, εἰπέΔιδάσκαλε εἰπέ φησίν }.

Lk 7:40
¶Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”

44Καὶ στραφεὶς πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα, τῷ Σίμωνι ἔφη, Βλέπεις ταύτην τὴν γυναῖκα; Εἰσῆλθόν σου εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν, ὕδωρ { ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας μουμοι ἐπὶ πόδας } οὐκ ἔδωκας· αὕτη δὲ τοῖς δάκρυσιν ἔβρεξέν μου τοὺς πόδας, καὶ ταῖς θριξὶν { τῆς κεφαλῆς ♦ - } αὐτῆς ἐξέμαξεν.

45Φίλημά μοι οὐκ ἔδωκας· αὕτη δέ, ἀφ’ ἧς εἰσῆλθον, οὐ διέλιπεν καταφιλοῦσά μου τοὺς πόδας.Lk 7:45
You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.

49Καὶ ἤρξαντο οἱ συνανακείμενοι λέγειν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς, Τίς οὗτός ἐστιν ὃς καὶ ἁμαρτίας ἀφίησιν;Lk 7:49
¶Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα, πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε· πορεύου εἰς εἰρήνην.Lk 7:50
¶He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
