Lk 7:1
¶After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

Lk 7:2
A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
3Ἀκοσας δὲ περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ, ἀπστειλεν πρὸς αὐτὸν πρεσβυτρους τῶν Ἰουδαων, ἐρωτῶν αὐτν, ὅπως ἐλθὼν διασσῃ τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ.Lk 7:3
When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.
4Οἱ δέ, παραγενμενοι πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, παρεκλουν αὐτὸν σπουδαως, λγοντες ὅτι Ἄξις ἐστιν { παρξειπαρξῃ } τοῦτο·

Lk 7:4
When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him,
5ἀγαπᾷ γὰρ τὸ ἔθνος ἡμῶν, καὶ τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτὸς ᾠκοδμησεν ἡμῖν.Lk 7:5
for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.”
6 δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἐπορεετο σὺν αὐτοῖς. Ἤδη δὲ αὐτοῦ οὐ μακρὰν ἀπχοντος ἀπὸ τῆς οἰκας, ἔπεμψεν { πρὸς αὐτὸν ἑκατνταρχος φλουςφλους ἑκατοντρχης }, λγων αὐτῷ, Κριε, μὴ σκλλου· οὐ γρ { εἰμι ἱκανὸςἱκανς εἰμι } ἵνα ὑπὸ τὴν στγην μου εἰσλθῃς·

Lk 7:6
Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.

Lk 7:7
Therefore Nay, I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8Καὶ γὰρ ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπς εἰμι ὑπὸ ἐξουσαν τασσμενος, ἔχων ὑπ’ ἐμαυτὸν στρατιτας, καὶ λγω τοτῳ, Πορεθητι, καὶ πορεεται· καὶ ἄλλῳ, Ἔρχου, καὶ ἔρχεται· καὶ τῷ δολῳ μου, Ποησον τοῦτο, καὶ ποιεῖ.Lk 7:8
For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9Ἀκοσας δὲ ταῦτα Ἰησοῦς ἐθαμασεν αὐτν, καὶ στραφεὶς τῷ ἀκολουθοῦντι αὐτῷ ὄχλῳ εἶπεν, Λγω ὑμῖν, { οὔτεοὐδὲ } ἐν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ τοσατην πστιν εὗρον.

Lk 7:9
¶When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.”
10Καὶ ὑποστρψαντες { οἱ πεμφθντες εἰς τὸν οἶκονεἰς τὸν οἶκον οἱ πεμφθντες } εὗρον τὸν { ἀσθενοῦντα ♦ - } δοῦλον ὑγιανοντα.

Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.

¶It happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.

When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, “Don’t cry.”
14Καὶ προσελθὼν ἥψατο τῆς σοροῦ· οἱ δὲ βαστζοντες ἔστησαν. Καὶ εἶπεν, Νεανσκε, σοὶ λγω, ἐγρθητι.Lk 7:14
He came near and And approaching he touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still stopped. And He he said:, “Young man, I tell you, arise!” Young man, I say to you, Get up!
15Καὶ ἀνεκθισεν νεκρς, καὶ ἤρξατο λαλεῖν. Καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ.Lk 7:15

¶Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited his people!”

John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”

When the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?’”
21Ἐν { αὐτῇ δὲἐκενῃ } τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐθερπευσεν πολλοὺς ἀπὸ νσων καὶ μαστγων καὶ πνευμτων πονηρῶν, καὶ τυφλοῖς πολλοῖς ἐχαρσατο { τὸ ♦ - } βλπειν.

¶In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.

Lk 7:22
Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have are having good news preached relayed to them.
23καὶ μακρις ἐστιν, ὃς ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί.Lk 7:23
Blessed is he who is not offended by me.”
24Ἀπελθντων δὲ τῶν ἀγγλων Ἰωννου, ἤρξατο λγειν { τοῖς ὄχλοιςπρὸς τοὺς ὄχλους } περὶ Ἰωννου, Τί { ἐξεληλθατεἐξλθατε } εἰς τὴν ἔρημον θεσασθαι; Κλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνμου σαλευμενον;

¶When John’s messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25Ἀλλὰ τί { ἐξεληλθατεἐξλθατε } ἰδεῖν; Ἄνθρωπον ἐν μαλακοῖς ἱματοις ἠμφιεσμνον; Ἰδού, οἱ ἐν ἱματισμῷ ἐνδξῳ καὶ τρυφῇ ὑπρχοντες ἐν τοῖς βασιλεοις εἰσν.

But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.

This is he of whom it is written,
‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.’*
28Λγω { γὰρ ♦ - } ὑμῖν, μεζων ἐν γεννητοῖς γυναικῶν { προφτης Ἰωννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦἸωννου } οὐδες ἐστιν· δὲ μικρτερος ἐν τῇ βασιλε τοῦ θεοῦ μεζων αὐτοῦ ἐστιν.

Lk 7:28
“For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer, yet he who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29Καὶ πᾶς λαὸς ἀκοσας καὶ οἱ τελῶναι ἐδικαωσαν τὸν θεν, βαπτισθντες τὸ βπτισμα Ἰωννου·Lk 7:29
¶When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, and the tax collectors, they declared upheld[a] God to be just, having been by being baptized with John’s baptism.

a Gr. δικαιόω; the δικαιοω-ing of God here is opposite to the rejecting of his βουλή in verse 30.
30οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ οἱ νομικοὶ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θεοῦ ἠθτησαν εἰς ἑαυτος, μὴ βαπτισθντες ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ.Lk 7:30
But the Pharisees and the lawyers legalists rejected for themselves the counsel of God, (by) not being baptized by him themselves.
31Τνι οὖν ὁμοισω τοὺς ἀνθρπους τῆς γενεᾶς τατης, καὶ τνι εἰσὶν ὅμοιοι;Lk 7:31
*“To what then will I liken the people of this generation? What, to what even are they like?
32Ὅμοιοεἰσιν παιδοις τοῖς ἐν ἀγορᾷ καθημνοις, καὶ προσφωνοῦσιν ἀλλλοις, { καὶ λγουσιν λγει }, Ηὐλσαμεν ὑμῖν, καὶ οὐκ ὠρχσασθε· { ἐθρηνσαμεν ὑμῖνἐθρηνσαμεν }, καὶ οὐκ ἐκλασατε.

Lk 7:33

34ἐλλυθεν υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρπου ἐσθων καὶ πνων, καὶ λγετε, Ἰδού, ἄνθρωπος φγος καὶ οἰνοπτης, φλος τελωνῶν καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν.Lk 7:34
The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man, a glutton and a drunkard;, a friend of one loved by tax collectors and sinners!’[a]

a The sense here is not that he is friendly toward tax collectors and sinners, but more disreputably that tax collectors and sinners see him as one of their own.
35Καὶ ἐδικαιθη σοφα ἀπὸ { τῶν τκνων αὐτῆς πντωνπντων τῶν τκνων αὐτῆς }.

Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39Ἰδὼν δὲ Φαρισαῖος καλσας αὐτὸν εἶπεν ἐν ἑαυτῷ λγων, Οὗτος, εἰ ἦν προφτης, ἐγνωσκεν ἂν τς καὶ ποταπὴ γυνὴ ἥτις ἅπτεται αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἁμαρτωλς ἐστιν.Lk 7:39
Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.”
40Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτν, Σμων, ἔχω σοτι εἰπεῖν. δέ { φησιν, Διδσκαλε, εἰπέ ♦ Διδσκαλε εἰπφησν }.

Lk 7:40
¶Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”

41Δο { χρεωφειλται ἦσαν δανειστῇχρεοφειλται ἦσαν δανιστῇ } τινί· εἷς ὤφειλεν δηνρια πεντακσια, δὲ ἕτερος πεντκοντα.

¶Simon answered, “He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most.”

44Καὶ στραφεὶς πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα, τῷ Σμωνι ἔφη, Βλπεις τατην τὴν γυναῖκα; Εἰσῆλθν σου εἰς τὴν οἰκαν, ὕδωρ { ἐπὶ τοὺς πδας μουμοι ἐπὶ πδας } οὐκ ἔδωκας· αὕτη δὲ τοῖς δκρυσιν ἔβρεξν μου τοὺς πδας, καὶ ταῖς θριξὶν { τῆς κεφαλῆς ♦ - } αὐτῆς ἐξμαξεν.

Lk 7:44
Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.

You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
46Ἐλα τὴν κεφαλν μου οὐκ ἤλειψας· αὕτη δὲ μρῳ ἤλειψν { μου τοὺς πδαςτοὺς πδας μου }.

Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”
48Εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῇ, Ἀφωντασου αἱ ἁμαρται.Lk 7:48
He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49Καὶ ἤρξαντο οἱ συνανακεμενοι λγειν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς, Τς οὗτς ἐστιν ὃς καὶ ἁμαρτας ἀφησιν;Lk 7:49
¶Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα, πστις σου σσωκν σε· πορεου εἰς εἰρνην.Lk 7:50
¶He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
