Now I am about to destroy them and the earth. 6:14 Make for yourself an ark of cypress wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it with pitch inside and out (NET).

Heb 11:9
By faith, he lived as an alien outsider[a] in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents,[b] with Isaac[c] and Jacob,[d] the heirs with him of the same promise.
———
a Gk. ἀλλότριος, that is, as an other. God gave Abraham the land, but not possession of it. (See Gn. 15:7-18 [Heb. 11:13a note] and Gn. 28:4 [Heb. 11:20a note].)
b See Gn. 12:8; 13:3, 5, 12, 18; 18:1-10.
c Gn. 26:2-5: 26:2 The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, Do not go down to Egypt; settle down in the land that I will point out to you. 26:3 Stay in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will fulfill the solemn promise I made to your father Abraham. 26:4 I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants. 26:5 All this will come to pass because Abraham obeyed me and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws (NET).
d Gn. 28:10-15: 28:10 Meanwhile Jacob left Beer Sheba and set out for Haran. 28:11 He reached a certain place where he decided to camp because the sun had gone down. He took one of the stones and placed it near his head. Then he fell asleep in that place 28:12 and had a dream. He saw a stairway erected on the earth with its top reaching to the heavens. The angels of God were going up and coming down it 28:13 and the Lord stood at its top. He said, I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the ground you are lying on. 28:14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. All the families of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using your name and that of your descendants. 28:15 I am with you! Heb 11:11
[a]By faith,[b] even and Sarah herself[c] (being) barren—(he) received power to conceive impregnate, and (she) bore a child when she was past age,[d] since she (he) counted him faithful who had promised.[e]
———
a Alterative translation: By [his? her?] faith, even Sarah herself received power to conceive, and she bore a child when she was past age, since she [or he?] counted him faithful who had promised.
b Abraham's faith or Sarah's? Gn. 15:1-6: 15:1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision.... 15:5 The Lord took him outside and said, Gaze into the sky and count the stars – if you are able to count them! Then he said to him, So will your descendants be. 15:6 Abram believed the Lord [LXX: ἐπίστευσεν Αβραμ τῷ θεῷ], and the Lord considered his response of faith as proof of genuine loyalty [LXX: ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην] (NET).
c Gn. 18:10-12: 18:10 One of them said, I will surely return to you when the season comes round again, and your wife Sarah will have a son! (Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, not far behind him. 18:11 Abraham and Sarah were old and advancing in years; Sarah had long since passed menopause.) 18:12 So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, After I am worn out will I have pleasure, especially when my husband is old too? (NET).
d Gn. 21:1-2: 21:1 The Lord visited Sarah just as he had said he would and did for Sarah what he had promised. 21:2 So Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the appointed time that God had told him (NET).
e Gk. πιστὸν ἡγήσατο τὸν ἐπαγγειλάμενον. Gn. 21:6-7: 21:6 Sarah said, God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears about this will laugh with me. 21:7 She went on to say, Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have given birth to a son for him in his old age! (NET).

a Jo. 6:1-5: 6:1 Now Jericho was shut tightly because of the Israelites. No one was allowed to leave or enter. 6:2 The Lord told Joshua, See, I am about to defeat Jericho for you, along with its king and its warriors. 6:3 Have all the warriors march around the city one time; do this for six days. 6:4 Have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day march around the city seven times, while the priests blow the horns. 6:5 When you hear the signal from the ram’s horn, have the whole army give a loud battle cry. Then the city wall will collapse and the warriors should charge straight ahead (NET). See also Jo. 6:15-20.

By faith, Rahab[a] the prostitute, didn’t perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.

a See Jo. 2:8-13: 2:8 Now before the spies went to sleep, Rahab went up to the roof. 2:9 She said to the men, I know the Lord is handing this land over to you. We are absolutely terrified of you, and all who live in the land are cringing before you. 2:10 For we heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you left Egypt and how you annihilated the two Amorite kings, Sihon and Og, on the other side of the Jordan. 2:11 When we heard the news we lost our courage and no one could even breathe for fear of you. For the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below! 2:12 So now, promise me this with an oath sworn in the Lord’s name. Because I have shown allegiance to you, show allegiance to my family. Give me a solemn pledge 2:13 that you will spare the lives of my father, mother, brothers, sisters, and all who belong to them, and rescue us from death (NET). See also Jo. 6:17, 22-23, 25.
