b Gk. ἁλὶ ἁλισθὴσεται, lit., will be salted with salt.
c See Lv. 2:13: You shall season all your grain offerings with salt. You shall not let the salt of the covenant with your God be missing from your grain offering; with all your offerings you shall offer salt (ESV). (A convenant of salt is an enduring, irrevocable covenant [see also Nm. 18:19 and 2 Chr. 13:5]. Presumably the salt serves as a constant reminder of the convenants [Ex. 19:5-6; Dt. 19:1, 10-15] with God into which Israel entered, and under which the sacrifices and offers are made: Ex. 24:3: Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the rules. And all the people answered with one voice and said, All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do [ESV].)

34Mk 9:50Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness were to ever become unsalty,[a] with what will you season it use for seasoning?[b] Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
———
a That is, impure to the point of dilution.
b Gk. ἐν τίνι αὐτὸ ἀρτύσετε, with what will you season it? "It" [αὐτὸ] is presumably indefinite, referring non-specifically to anything that needs seasoning.
Mt 5:13“You are the salt of the earth,[a] but if the salt has lost were to ever lose its flavor,[b] with what will it (the earth) be salted seasoned?[c] It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
———
a See 2 Kgs. 2:20-22, where salt is a healing agent: He [Elisha] said, Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it. So they brought it to him. (21) Then he went to the spring of water and threw salt in it and said, Thus says the Lord, I have healed this water; from now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from it. (22) So the water has been healed to this day, according to the word that Elisha spoke (ESV).
b Gk. μωρανθῇ, lit. be made or become stupid.
c Gk. ἐν τίνι ἁλισθήσεται, lit., with what will (it) be salted? Cf. Lk 14:34 which has almost the same wording [ἐν τίνι ἀτυρθήσεται, with what will (it) be seasoned?], but where it has no direct referent. (It here, likewise, could therefore be indefinite instead of specifically referring to the earth.)
Lk 14:34Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless were to ever lose its flavor,[a] with what do you season it what will be used for seasoning?[b]

35(Mk)(Mt)Lk 14:35Οὔτε εἰς γῆν οὔτε εἰς κοπρίαν εὔθετόν ἐστιν· ἔξω βάλλουσιν αὐτό. Ὁ ἔχων ὦτα ἀκούειν ἀκουέτω.35(Mk)(Mt)Lk 14:35It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”‑‑(Mk)(Mt)(Lk)(Lk 8:8)‑‑(Mk)(Mt)(Lk)(Lk 8:8)
